Kefka has drained three Goddesses of their powers before; how much trouble can a fourth possibly be? The insane clown turned evil god holds the upper hand in speed, and possibly even power, in this match, and against Freya, the latter is saying something! He isn't going to last long under Freya's assault, but with a quick blitz of his devastating defence-ignoring Ultima, or maybe his high-accuracy Havoc Wing (doubled up if he's lucky), he won't have to... since she's even less likely to last long under his.

V

S

Freya is not what you call a typical looking godlike. With her graceful movement, mouth watering beauty, and very non armor like clothing, you'd expect her to be a floozy. Wrong. Freya is one of the strongest physical godlikes to grace the RPGDL arena. Her devastating attacks should easily put Kefka down fast, and her own defense means she won't crumple to a couple of well placed Havoc wings.

Most known for her unique voice acting, the Summoner of Spira is ready to roll out her Aeons in the RPGDL. And they are fearsome, to say the least. Almost anyone should rightfully fear Anima and Bahamut, and Yuna's got the power to bring them out. And that's just alone that they should fear them. Once one of Yuna's Aeon friends manages to get to Overdrive, then things will become very messy very fast. Oblivion will do some incredible pain to Yuber, and Anima's normal attacks are nothing to scoff at either. Still, Yuna will need to draw on all her skills to pull this one off.

V

S

For Yuber, this is quite an odd match. Not only is his PC form better suited to the task of winning this fight, it's the only reason he stands the remotest of chances against Yuna. Simply put, he needs a speedy use of his Eight Devil rune, which his boss form can't do as well. If Yuna somehow survives Eight Devil (unlikely), or if she outspeeds Yuber, and uses one of her summons, it's all over for the man in black.

If the RPGP and RPGDL existed in the same sub-universe of video game fandom (and who knows, maybe they do!), Terra Branford would remember Loki from their legendary Heavy final where she triumphed. This past suggests that the Half-Esper mage-knight would be the favourite here, and this is likely the case. Morphed, Terra's magic and swordplay is twice as strong as normal, and her already impressive magic defence is doubled. To top it off, Loki uses purely elemental attacks, which Terra resists due to her armour. Most important, though, is Terra's Drain spell, which allows her to fully heal herself while badly damaging her opponent, and Loki's low Magic Defence. The only Final Fantasy main in Godlike looks set for a win in her first match.

V

S

Loki's got to pull some good luck to get this to work. For starters, his best damage will come by way of Indiscriminate, and he'll need to get the optimal spells in that. Granted, that if it hits right, Terra might be a very little threat as she'll be very much dead. However, his other attacks will not be as effective here, and her Minerva may prove to be his undoing. But can the Trickster use his obscene defense to his advantage, and wait Terra out until his Indiscriminate indiscriminately incapacitates her? Only the Aesir can tell!

The bearer of the Soul Eater is in for an uphill battle here. Shizel's Dark innate elemental alignment will make his Judgement not as effective as it could be, and he can't rely on his trusty instant death against her. Indeed, he will have to hope that he can use Judgement enough times to blast her before she crushes him. But with Shizel's incredible HP advantage, and her speed not being poor, it will take a bit of luck for Tir to win this match.

V

S

A master of the Dark Aurora, Shizel faces much more fearsome opponents than she did in her home game. Thankfully, though, Tir is a PC, and as such he is susceptible her to Eternal Finality. Add to that that Shizel's Darkness innate affiliation will make his Judgement a tad less scary, and she's in a good position for this match. The bearer of the Soul Eater may have met his match in the ruler of Celestia.

Though Ramladu brings devestating attack power to the table, it's his defensive game that really turns heads. Capable of regenerating more HP a turn than many opponents can even deal, Ramladu merely needs to survive Feena's initial assault, and beat her into the dirt once she runs out of gas.

V

S

With the power to survive mating with Justin, Feena surely stands a chance against any opponent. However, her Justin enduring skills will be put to a test here. Feena's designed for an all-out blow, with her high speed, Time Gate, and combined damage output under said spell. After that, she's out. Against Ramladu's high HP, Def, and auto-regen, Feena's going to have to pray she takes him out fast with her Time Gate-World End-Zap Whipx2 combo, or at least bring him nice and low so that his regen doesn't overcome her damage output. Still, if she can stand Justin for extended periods of time, then Ramladu shouldn't be so bad.

Happy Beam and Invincible! Those sort of sum up everyone's favourite robot friend! The machine that could is up against a worthy foe in Edgar, and he'll need all of his best tricks to win this one. This match will be a match of machine against... machine-user...

V

S

How does Edgar normally win his matches? Simple. Air Anchor. Apply said anchor to opponent, and watch them die. That's Edgar's plan for this match. Hit em once, and let em drop. If that fails, he can fall back to his powerful array of other tools, including the defense ignoring drill

Rutee has a simple battle plan here. Bloody Rose, Bloody Rose, Bloody Rose, with healing and some attack magic mixed in to freshen things up. Considering that Peach can outheal, status, hit, and speed her, Rutee has to press for a quick victory.

V

S

The Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom is a formidable foe in this match, with her Frying Pan going steel to steel with a Swordian. However, her healing powers are much more formidable, and the power of Psych Bomb, Sleepy Time, and Mute will make her a nasty competitor to face. As well, her defenses are nothing to scoff at, giving Princess Toadstool an edge in this match.

Roan normally can laugh at status attacks, and shred them with his powerful True Dragon rise, before they can move. Not this week. Geno's a fast, nasty status attacker, who uses one of the few attacks Roan can't block-instant death. As such, Roan's going to have to win this match in short order, or face a severe beating at the hands of his opponent.

V

S

The puppet of doom makes his first appearance in the RPGDL this week. An all-around strong fighter, Geno possesses both speed and power. Geno Whirl, in particular, is the bane of all PCs...and Roan just happens to be a PC! Should Geno Whirl not be deemed necessary, Geno can fall back on Geno Boost and his other strong spells. He's fast, he's strong, and he's made of wood; that's good enough to succeed in Heavy.

Sgt Jordi has seen many battle fields on many worlds, and Kasumi is perhaps the fastest opponent he's seen. Kasumi can press the fearless duck with her strike rune, so it'll likely be a battle of attack-heal-attack, for Sgt Joe. If he sticks to his guns, a win isn't out of the question.

V

S

The Ninja-turned-general Kasumi is all about one thing: speed. She's easily one of the fastest PCs ever to grace a Suikoden game, and with her Shrike Rune, she has the power to back her speed up. Against Sgt. Joe, she needs to press the offensive and force the duck to heal constantly... at which point it's a simple matter of running her opponent out of spell charges and cruising to victory.

A little girl who lives in a daycare... Somehow, that doesn't sound fearsome, but it is. Paula's Freeze Omega strikes terror into the hearts of the opponents who fall victim to it, As well, Her Shield spells will shield her from the brunt of Tengaar's attacks, and her healing will keep her easily sated in this duel. Paula's PSI Magnet spells could also help, by draining Tengaar's charges. And her Goddess Ribbon will help protect from the brunt of Tengaar's attacks, being the strongest defensive item in the game. Who knew little girls could be so dangerous?!

V

S

Having proven that Light is no match for her, Tengaar, the young Earth mage from the Warriors' Village, is out to prove herself in Middle. Her Earthquake is a devastating spell, and considering her opponent's rather pitiful HP supply, a one-hit kill isn't out of the question. If not, her opponent can't heal, and the reasonably fast Tengaar has a second one in her MP supply anyway. Tengaar probably won't even have to use her anti-magic Canopy Defence in this battle, as she looks for her fifth straight RPGDL win.

Marle, though hated and one of the weaker characters in-game, is quite a decent dueler. Her Haste is one of the most powerful hastes in existence, making her low speed very good, as well as possessing cheap full-healing spells. While her damage output is low, her Provoke spell and Valkyrie Bow can help make that problem less of a problem. Against Alma, Marle will just have to wait her out, relying on her much more effective healing spells to run the FFT-bitch dry, then ( slowly ) pummelling her to death.

V

S

Had it not been for a purple octopus three seasons ago, Alma would have the label 'Middle champion' on her RPGDL resume. Now, however, she is finally getting another shot at the title she fell just short of. However, her first opponent is an all-too-familiar one... Princess Nadia (Marle) Guardia. Though Alma bested the upstart princess in the semi-finals of Season 1, it won't be easy to repeat. Once again, Alma is best off optimising for speed and power and blitzing her less-than-durable opponent with Ultimas before she can get a chance to form a Haste-heal loop. With an N-Kai Armlet to block what is now recognised as Marle's deadliest status attack (Provoke), Alma should be able to pull out a repeat win.

Lucca has the rare pleasure of being far faster than her opponent this week. She can easily press that advantage via her status weapons, if she wants a quick win. If not, she can simply wear out Rand's healing with her powerful fire magic, or just hit him with back to back flares.

V

S

He's big, he's slow, and he has healing. Really, Rand is a man designed to run an attrition battle. However, he'll have to beware of Lucca's Hypno Wave and the erratic damage of her WonderShot, or, worse yet, a weapon with stop. Still, if he keeps his healing at the right time, and keeps full healing her damage, he can win this.

Everyone's favourite tadpole (?) Mallow is one of several Super Mario RPG PCs making his RPGDL debut this week. Mallow doesn't bring nearly as much to a duel as Geno or Toadstool, though. Of course, that's why he's in Light, where he's more than able to handle the competition. Mallow possesses plenty of full healing to power himself past Ard this week, along with Shocker to do nice damage to the durability-lacking lizard. Mallow can also take comfort in the fact that, while he isn't the fastest fighter around, his opponent is nothing short of sluggish. Light may be in for a shock (literally) with Mallow around this season, and Ard is set to be the first victim.

V

S

Ard! Ard! The sound of one of the super smart lizards! While Ard may not be as smart(?) as his pal Liz, he does more damage, and doesn't status himself. Go Ard! Ard also can do some good damage with his attacks, and his HP is pretty good for his division. Can the nearly silent lizard pull off a victory? The answer is Ard!

Gogo is going to use his super miming skills this week. He'll attempt to copy the masterful evasive tactics of Thomas, and try to get in a Holy shot from his Pearl rod. If Gogo can't do those things, the only thing he'll be miming is a Zombie.

V

S

Ah, Thomas. Bad HP, bad defences, bad damage, no skillset... can he do ANYTHING well? Actually, yes. He can dodge. He can dodge so much he puts arguably the RPGDL's most evasive cast (which includes the likes of Yuber, Hugo, and Emily) to shame. With an S in Repel and an A+ in Parry, Thomas is nigh impossible to hit with a physical attack. And his first opponent, Gogo, has nothing but a physical attack under RPGDL rules. Looks like an easy win for the only Tenkai star in Light, this week.

A Sergeant in the Garlyle forces, Saki can claim in perfect honesty that she is one of the stronger bosses in Grandia. That said, being strong for a Grandia boss simply means you're clear of the Puny border. Saki's damage is awful, which would seem to doom her against healer Raja. However, she has a chance; she possesses stat-boosting spells, Wow and Speedy, to raise her Attack and Speed, respectively. After enough castings of these, she should be able to take out Raja with a few consectutive attacks with her sword. And most importantly, with her high HP and Raja's non-existant damage, she has all the time she needs to get her buffing spells into play...

V

S

Sir-heals alot, the mightiest healer in existance. He's a god in-game, though he's barely a Light in the RPGP. His plentiful healing, combined with Blessing, allow him to absorb a large amount of damage, and with the ability to restore his own TP, that healing potential is multiplied many times over. Against Saki, like most opponents, Raja will have to rely on a long, drawn-out battle to defeat his opponent. But this is Saki...and Saki's not exactly the strongest of opponents. Will the mighty healer defeat the middling mid-boss?

The engineer from Goug isn't the best damage-dealer around, despite having the relic of ancient technology, 'gun', as a weapon. In fact, his damage makes that of Rafa and Malak look good. Still, he's not all bad. He's fast, can half all his opponent's damage using a White Robe, and using Arm Aim, he can prevent his opponent from acting. Best of all, he can reapply this while it's still in effect, after taking a shot at his opponent between attempts. However, the status doesn't last long, and Mustadio only has a 61% chhance of hitting it each time. He'll need a good run of luck to defeat Chaz, but it's far from out of the question.

V

S

Chaz isn't as fast as some of his fellow Shining Force 2 attack mages, and he's no better at taking hits, but that doesn't mean he doesn't pack just as mean a punch with his spells. With Bolt 4 and Freeze 4, Chaz can hit for incredible damage, and even with this damaged halved by his opponent's White Robe, he still has a clear offensive edge in this fight. After all, bad as Chaz' durability is, Mustadio's offence is nothing to be feared, and considering Snipe's inaccuracy and impermanence, it's likely that Chaz should be able to pull out a win.

Fashion Is Just Such A Fickle Thing
vs
~RC

Fashion is just such a fickle thing. It all started with one little comment, who made it, exactly, isn't known, but it boiled into an argument over which was worse: Crossdressing, or clichéd old long coats. Pretty soon, both sides decided to end the argument. Their way. The gender-clothingly challenged resented the way that Sephy and Yuri and Auron would point at them and make snide comments as they passed by. Granted, Kuja didn't think of himself as a crossdresser, only too beautiful to be confined to things like men's clothing, and Cloud was denying that he still had the wig and dress in his clost. And Caina still had to decide what gender he really was, but they were irked enough that they pushed it. And Flea... well, Flea admitted it, and blew everyone little pink heart kisses. And thus, it came down to battle. On one side, were those that liked the feelings of 'alternative' clothing. And, on the other, was a bunch of violent guys that liked to wear long coats because it made them cooler. Which side will triumph in this battle of fashion?
