DL Twink League 2014- Noms!
« on: November 17, 2014, 05:52:45 AM »
Rounding out our calender year will be the Twink League.  For those unfamiliar, this is a chance for all those characters from games based on customization to strut their stuff and hang with the big boys from games with more static skillsets.

Rules and Guidelines

- Please nom only twinked characters.  I'll almost certainly be filling out the league with unmodified DL characters, but if I need ideas there I'll post in the thread at a later time.
- Note that the character will be placed in the league with their as-nommed setup.  If you want a character with built in flexibility (an FFT character based around abusing awesome FFT equips for example), be sure to say as much in your nom!
- Noms should broadly aim to be "Godlike, with potential to champ in a favorable pool".  Obviously this is a difficult mark to hit reliably, but basically the character should probably not be able to beat Blue, but probably should beat Red.

Accepted Noms

1. Lenna Charlotte Tycoon (Final Fantasy V)
2. Tiz Arrior (Bravely Default)
CK: She is the female you
Snow: Speaking of Sluts!

<NotMiki> I mean, we're talking life vs. liberty, with the pursuit of happiness providing color commentary.

Gaignun Kukai Jr., Wild West Berserker (XS1) - Loadout: Bravesoul, Commander's Crest, W Special, Speed +25%, Medica Rest ether learned. Can equip a White Ring for extra speed, but likely sacrificing one of the equipment/skill options (I'd have to check precisely how he manages this loadout of equips and skills). Otherwise, DL-legal equips and skills apply.

Effective setup: Basically a spin on XF Berserker on crack: Bravesoul means Jr.'s damage gets progressively (exponentially so!) meaner as his HP depletes and Commander's Crest + W Special grant him a massive offensive boost with using two techs every turn. Speed +25% and White Ring are fairly obvious for speed purposes and Medica Rest emulates HP Burst sans the risk aspect. Medica Rest also compliments his overall buffing game very well. His durability's kinda sketchy still, but he likely can play a nice limit/attrition game here.

Princess Peach Goes Super Smash Bros. (SMRPG) - Can equip the following items among her options, in any combination: Lazy Shell (armor), Troopa Pin (huge first-turn speed boost, auto-Attack Up), Ghost Medal (auto-Defense Up). Otherwise, DL-legal options apply.

Effective setup: Well, this is basically DL Peach but with the perks of Super Mario RPG's broken equips, customizable for offense or defense - or some balance in-between. Ghost Medal is likely overkill for durability (Troopa Pin mitigates a lot of the offensive ineptude granted by Lazy Shell, which is already defensively horrifying), but so it goes. It's mostly a way to play customizability without being utterly boring like just slapping a Crystal Charm on her.

Yuffie Kisaragi, Dragon Summoner Of Wutai (FF7) - W-Summon Materia, Bahamut+Quadra Magic, Bahamut+HP Absorb, NEO Bahamut+MP Absorb, Bahamut ZERO+Magic Counter, Restore, HP Plus, Magic Plus, Mystile. Consider all relevant materia mastered. Otherwise, DL-legal options apply.

Effective setup: Basically a thematic idea of a somewhat self-sustainable parasitic healing game. Octo-Bahamut castings comprise the main means of offense, providing relatively modest HP healing, Cure to compliment the healing, NEO Bahamut grants some degree of MP restoration, Mystile allows for some added effective durability and Bahamut ZERO brings a few reasonably painful counters. This might not be incredibly effective, but I'm curious to see how far a magically twinked ITD parasitic stalling game can go. It may backfire horribly outside of offense, since the HP/MP Absorb materias are frankly underpowered, but we'll see.

Miakis, Ultimax Suplex Hold Queen's Knight (S5) - Gets full in-game equipment loadout, storebought or not, and the full assortment of in-game storebought Runes to work with.

Effective setup: Miakis getting a loadout more like what she gets in-game, more or less. Near-uber versatility, marred down mostly by the limitations inherent to Suikoden 5's system.

Labyrinthia Wordsworth, Very Capable Woman (WAXF) - Mastered classes: Arcanist, Sentinel, Sacred Slayer, Elementalist, Enigmancer, Grappler. Isolated skills allowed: MP Recovery, Conserve MP, Move and Heal MP, Speed +25%. Can switch between classes and equips as well as any skill from this pool, respecting the in-game limitations. DL-legal equipment options and levels (relevant for skill slots available) apply as well.

Effective setup: The idea here is mostly trying to actually make -some- degree of use out of Labby's weirdass defensive skills, though it'll end up being mostly about the class mishmash. Sacred Slayer and Sentinel's EQs+defensive stat boosts actually may mitigate to some degree Labby's awful base durability, which could be further augmented with Protect (and might give Distortion a vague use, holy crap!). Enigmancer's Caution and Grappler's Red Zone also synergize decently, especially with Sacred Slayer OC in the mix, and there are multiple tools here that may synergize into strong finishers (theoretically, Amplifier => Force Field => Accelerator => Heavy Strike => END or Mag Charge => Force Field => Accelerator => Devastate => END might be options). Of course, this still goes from failing at life to not being that great at speed outside Accelerator's weird shenanigans (even Speed +25% doesn't quite bring Arcanist even to average, and the only class here with a remotely acceptable base on the stat is Enigmancer... which also suffer from Labby's egregious base stats). Let's see how this even works.

May add more setups when I'm at home and can actually research FAQs.

If you see a setup for a game you know better, please suggest something over mine!

1. Ringabel, Bravely Default?  Be warned that he's a tad boring in a PC-dominated crowd since it's a straight speed check due to how incredibly rare draining / turn stealing immunity is.  (OTOH if we're aiming for "potential Godlike champ" level of power, there's gonna be a lot of straight-up speed checks -> horrific OHKOs.)

2. speaking of drain immunity...  some FF8 character?  I'll let Tide or the like step in if they want...  Quistis was simple enough last twink league but that was off mostly just HP junction & St-D junction.

3. Orlandu, FFT, w/ perfect equip/accessory choice and no universal skills dummied out for the DL, against the initial-accessories only stat topic?  So Chaos Blades, Estucheon IIs, Robe of Lords, Reflect Mail, Rubber Shoes, all that good stuff.  (Orlandu is already a champ caliber Godlike, so he doesn't need a lot of a push here.  Alternatively there's Meliadoul if people want Ribbon / Perfume hype?!  Also, since this is FFTDL, there's totally room for some broken Ramza w/ Jobs set up too...)

4. Celes, FF6, w/ all FF6 magic (but no Espers equipped), Marvel Shoes (=Safe/Shell/Regen/Haste), and an Illumina if she wants it (scaled vs. DL legal everyone else).  (I may be biased by a long-ago run through the Dungeon w/ Celes.)

5. Oscar, Boyd, & Rolf (FE9).  Triangle Attack!  (okay not a dueler, but IIRC some of the earlier twink / bluelike tournies had goofy stuff like the FE7 Peg sisters, or 1337 Jogurts.)

Not really:

NR. Flynn, SMT4?  The whole skillset customizability thing means he'd be right at home in a tourney like this...  and the power level is about right (if maybe a tad low for Godlike champ)...  except that only me/Gate/Twil(?) could vote him, so alas.  Bonus match obscura material?!

Random ideas:

??: Morgan, FE13, w/ some incredibly broken inheritance skill set?  Except no stats...  bah...   well, there's Lucina w/ a twinked skillset too.  Or, per #5, something like Lucina/Chrom stuck in a pair-up.  Or even just Lucina w/ a +5 forged Brave Sword.  (Aftergamey FE13 characters would also be interesting, what with their skills triggering much more reliably...  except then they should really go into the damage average too....  bah.)  Reiska?!

Yuna (FFX) with Aeon command disabled. (Grand Summon still works)
Weapon - One MP Cost, Triple Overdrive, First Strike, Break Damage Limit
Armor - Auto-Haste, Ribbon, Deathproof

Friendly NEB note: Auto-Life does not reactivate Auto-Haste until Yuna gets her first turn after reviving.

Blue
All stats capped (999 HP, 255 JP, 99 in everything else. Note that Blue already had capped magic relevant stats before so this mainly affects his durability and speed.)
Spells with infinite (or effectively infinite) JP costs disabled. (Tower, OverDrive, Stasis)

Ramza
Access to all full generic skillsets (except Dancer, obv) including RSM, including his native Ubersquire, and all storebought FFT equipment (DL 'legal' or not).
Comes with 4 generic Mimes, 2 male, 2 female. The males are 70/40 Br/Fa and the females are 70/70 Br/Fa.
Loss condition requires the full party to be KOed/debilitated (not that 4 Mimes by themselves can really do much).

WA5 Rebecca with Final Stage weapon and Sky Blazer Armor, and Sky Medium. Has a complementary badge loadout of 100% Orange, Marksman Badge, Sheriff Star.  I'll leave the fourth slot open for now but a Mist Cloak or Violator could be added if the setup needs something more.

A defensive twink that spits in the face of anything that tries to spam overkill damage.  100% Orange forces all damage dealt and received by the holder to 100, factoring in the Hp boost from the Sheriff Star, it takes 47 separate attacks to kill her, the downside being that this means she only deals ~5% pchp per attack herself.  Marksman badge means she ignores evasion, to better slowly beat people to death with spoon levels of damage, Sheriff Star is there mainly for the status immunity, since this twink would otherwise fall flat on it's face at the first sign of any (in)competent status slinger. Sky Medium is mostly just there for the badge slots, and is otherwise probably the least synergistic with 100% orange(no intrude, no speed buffs/debuffs), but does give her one option in Mp Draining.  Lastly, Rebecca's personal ability lets her randomly attack multiple times for up to 5 attacks per turn, for a whopping ~25% pchp, get hype.

Downsides: pretty much falls flat vs healers and hp sponges, also doesn't like other multi-acters or people who grossly outspeed her.  Calculating who pokes who to death first in duels may induce raeg.

Tuning options: If the current iteration seems strong her weapon can be changed to something with less bullets, this will force her to waste turns guarding more often.  If it's too weak then either a mist cloak or violater can be added to the last badge slot.  The Mist cloak would make her even more annoying to kill, giving her a flat 50% non aim subject evasion towards physicals, Violator would skew her power more towards offense, giving her a stacking version of her continuous shot.

Just some ideas. CK, please tone down as you feel necessary. I'm just bringing them to the table:

Citan "I am faster than Ragu 4" Uzuki (XG) - Loadout: Strongest Sword /w Speed Shoes (Auto Haste), Speed Ring Plus (+2 Speed), Speed Ring  (+1 Speed). Option to swap Speed Ring for an armor piece (that armor that increases damage as HP drops).

Pretty simple premise. Citan is 13 base XG Speed, which translates to about 158%-168% average. Due to XG's speed mechanics, being at the highest possible speed of 16 makes Citan about 335% average. Speed Shoes gives him auto-haste so he can get started on offense turn 1 at 771% average, making him faster than even Ragu 4 of the mighty 684% average. Two big weaknesses about this set up: Citan is still all physical and sacrificing all his accessory slots for speed drops him to pitiful defense (aka: Dies to a breeze). Brings a new meaning to the term 'glass cannon'. Option to swap out armor for 1 speed, but that 1 speed drops him from 771% to only about 540% so a pretty significant hit and may not alter much.

Clive "hits like a freight train" Winslett (WA3) - Loadout: Selection of 3 out of 6 Mediums and is locked into that selection for the match. Offensive mediums being: Fiery Rage, Aqua Wisp, Brave Seal, Lust Jaw, Hope Shard, Gale Claw. Mediums equipped not only have their default passive skills but have the following gears equipped as well: Amulet (Status Guard), Violator (Finest Arts), Heart Leaf (Misery Ward), Prism Crown (Elemental Ward), Baselard (Power Cancel)

More complex than the above. Hard to turn a character who is 65% average speed and not named 'Raquel' with a viable twink, but let's give this a go. The idea is to give Clive all the offensive oriented mediums (sans Flash Hit) then give him skills to see if he can pull off what he is the best at doing arguably in-game. Build to 100 FP with an empty ARM then smash with Finest Arts. Even without Finest Arts, this set still gives him access to Elemental physicals and Weakness boosts that damage by 4x. This set up also allows Clive to turtle a bit through Elemental Blocking, near all status blocking (he's vulnerable to POIZN! HYPE) and the ability to cancel his action on the current turn for no cost. Along with some of the other default skills on the mediums such as SOS Support and FP Charge, can prove to be nasty for a limit phase as well. Its main weakness its kinda slow at setting up, as it takes a minimum of three turns before the killer damage comes out.

Raquel "Dark Phoenix Rises!" Applegate (WA4) - Loadout: Goat Doll (Auto-Revive on death at 1 HP) /Prism Staff (Grants 25 FP on at 20% CHP)/Berserker Badge (damage dealt and taken is multiplied by 1.5x (assume she has 3 badge slots), Equites/Princess Sabre for weapons

All you need to know about this load out is that Goat Doll combos with Red Zone and so does Prism Staff. The only way to stop Raquel from getting a turn in this set up is using *very* specific status such as Petrify/Eject. Berserker is a hilarity option being a double edged sword but lets her hit harder and also die faster. Once she does, she'll come back with 25 FP loaded and now smashes the target with 3x the damage on the first swing and 1.5x the damage on the second. Some weaknesses - as noted before, while this set up neuters most status, some specific status will still get her. It also gets spoiled by POIZN (more RICHARD HYPE?!), as that will cause her to instantly die due to 1 HP and POIZN damage being applied at the start of the turn for WA4. It's also still one dimensional and still runs off Raquel speed.

Squall " Vice Prez RICHARD approved challenge" Leonhart (FF8) - Loadout: Active one GF choice, all magic available for junctions/abilities.

This is the same style concept as the RICHARD approved challenge that I did, only now in a DL context. Squall is allowed to choose for every fight to equip any one GF of his choice, but ONLY one. He can equip any magic to his junctions and in essence also has access to all spells. To save CK some trouble, here's a general list of what each GF offers from the challenge. Unless otherwise noted, Squall is always limited to 4 commands 2 abilities. His default command list will always typically have Magic/GF. So if there are more commands he wants, he has to sacrifice a slot for them:

EDIT - As a limiting factor to 'All magic', while Squall has all magic for junctioning, in battle, he can only cast what he has junctioned.

1) Carbuncle: HP/Mag/Vit junctions along with St-Atk/Def. Passive: HP+20/40%, Vit+20/40%, Counter and Auto-Reflect. Can equip 3 abilities
2) Brothers: HP/Str/Spr junctions along with Elem-Atk/Def. Passive: HP+20/40/80%. Command: Defend (Immunes physical damage and halves magic damage)
3) Cerberus: HP/Str/Spr/Spd junctions along with St-Atk/St-Defx4. Passive: Auto-Haste, Spd+20/40%, Expend 2-1 (When using Magic through Double, consumes only 1 stock). Can equip 3 of these abilities.
4) Shiva: Str/Vit/Spr junctions and Elem Atk/Def x2. Passives: Str +20/40%, Vit+20/40%. Command: Doom (16 seconds to live, BRO. Laggy approved)
5) Ifrit: HP/Str junctions and Elem Atk/Defx2. Passives: HP +20/40%, Str+20/40%. Command: Mad Rush (Adds Protect/Haste/ZERK to user)
6) Pandemona: HP/Str/Spd junctions and Elem Atk/Defx2. Passives: Str +20/40%, Spd+20/40%, Initiative (First Strike in battle). Command: Absorb (Functions at the same power as Level 1 Spell, but can damage undead and goes through Shell)
7) Quetzacolt: HP/Vit/Mag junctions and Elem Atk/Defx2. Passives: Vit +20/40%, Mag+20/40%. Command: Card (Turns enemies into Triple Triad Cards. Always 1/128 chance to succeed. Success rate increases linearly to the relative percentage of HP lost by target. For example, if at 1% HP, then 99% chance to succeed)
8) Siren: Mag junction with St Atk/Defx2. Passives: Mag +20/40%. Commands: Treatment (Heals all status ailments)
9) Diablos: HP and Mag junction with St-Atk/Defx2. Passives: HP+20/40/80%, Mag+20/40%. Can use 3 abilities. Commands: Darkside (Sacrifices 1/10 HP to deal 3x the Phys damage)
10) Alexander: Spr junction with Elem Atk/Defx4. Passives: Spr +20/40%, Med Data (doubles healing items). Commands: Revive (Full Revives target. Relevant as can combo with ZMOBIE)
11) Grefter the Doomtrain: Elem Atk/Defx4 and St-Atk/St-Defx4. Passives: Auto Shell. Commands: Absorb, Darkside
12) Bahamut: No junctions. Passives: Str+60%, Mag+60%, Auto-Protect, Expend 2-1. Can use 3 of these abilities
13) Tonberry: No junctions. Passives: Eva+30%, Luck+50%, Auto-Potion. Commands: Lv Up, Lv  Down, Initiative
14) Leviathan: Spr junction with Elem Atk/Defx2. Passives: Spr +20/40%, Auto-Potion. Commands: Recover (Full Heals target. Caps at 9999. Relevant as can combo with ZMOBIE)
15) Cactuar: Eva-J and Luck-J. Passives: Eva+30%, Luck+50%. Commands: Defend, Kamikaze (Deals 6x MHP damage to target, kills user. lol)
16) "Legendary" guardian Eden: Spd, Hit and Eva junctions. Passives: Luck+50%. Commands: Mad Rush, Darkside, Devour (Consumes a low HP target. Produces various effects on user if success)

Garnet (FF9)
Access to all magic stone abilities and equipment.  Starts with trance bar from anywhere up to 90%.  Maxed gemstones for summons.

Boosted Bahamut, Leviathan, or Ark plus Auto-Regen is so ugly.  Reflect-Null may have some quirky uses.  Being able to plug status holes adds to the package.

Virginia (WA3)
Comes with Flash Hit, Love Charm, and Hope Shard.  Has access to all the associated Arcana and personal skills.  Has access to every non-consumable Mystic item and 5 MTC for summoning.  ARM fully upgraded as desired.

WA3 Reflect (best implementation of status ever), Valiant + Gatling, Exploder to spoil the mass of twinked PCs, and more.  And Force Charge combined with Life Charge and the defense bonuses from defending so stalling her out doesn't work either.  + 80% HP and + 50% Def means she won't die as easily plus adds fuel for Valiant.

This post mostly to function as a bump/reminder.  Will probably assemble the first week late tonight.  While there's probably enough builds to work with once the DL Division is assembled, some folks to come in and assess for overpoweredness would be nice as well.

Lucian, Valkyrie's Champion- Granted the sword Valkyrie-Favor, the artifact Angel Curio, and the skill Guts in addition to his legal options.

Straightforward.

Millenia, Wizard of Valmar- Granted free selection of skills from the Book of War and Book of Sages in addition to her legal options.

That's Life Up, Special Power (SP Up), Speed, Aim for Counter (counters on dodge...not too useful), Fighting Spirit (increases SP regen from combo), Full-body Blow (Cancel has more knock-back) on the first and Magic Power (MP Up), Intelligence, Mentality, Wizardry Chant (Ups Fire/Wind/Lightning/Explosion damage), Mystic Chant (Ups Water/Earth/Forest/Blizzard power), and Magic Esoterica (spells gain Cancel effect)

DragonKnight: Garnet may need more of a push than that - maybe say that her Trance meter is already at 99% so she inarguably open with Eidolon -> spam healing?  (Also, I think the DL stat topic already gives Garnet credit for Reflect-Null IIRC - but Auto-Haste / Auto-Life / Auto-Reflect are potentially cool, at least.)

Also Eidolon is weird and hopefully some FF9 mechanics master knows exactly how it works - a quick Google showed that somebody claimed it triggered like 6 times before Garnet got another turn, *but* that was against Necron whose ATB is famously screwed up, so it may be one of those "works radically differently in an FF9 duel than in actual FF9 normal play" dealies.
