Title: Music Tournament of DOOM Vol. 2 ~Quarterfinals~

The time for the quarterfinals is upon us!  Eight songs remain, four matches to vote on.  As I am leaving for about a week on the third, I'll run this pool until midnight EST on June 2 so that I can set up the semifinal round before I leave.

All very easy decisions for me. Think Sphilia is now my first choice for champ? Song of Mana is close behind though.

So there's one track that wasn't in the last one left, now. Unless I misrecall and Nefertiti was in last time too. Yay.

The Fate ~ Cluster Amaryllis (Shadow Hearts Covenant) vs. Marionette Messiah (Super Robot Wars OGs) - Mu~ch better.
Battle with the Four Fiends (Final Fantasy IV) vs. EXEC_SPHILIA/. (Ar Tonelico 2) - Closest match here. Four Fiends is much better than I remember, whereas Sphilia is worse than I remember, so Fiends barely takes it.
Main Theme (Orchestral) (Parasite Eve) vs. Song of Mana (Legend of Mana) - Not Song of Mana.

Tonfa: Pretty sure Nefertiti wasn't in the last tourney. Not many people had played MK then, so its noms were pretty much limited to whatever Tallychu could get in.

Nefertiti (Mana Khemia) vs. STIGMATA (Mana Khemia) - Easy.  Nefertiti is very good and all but it isn't Godlike.
The Fate ~ Cluster Amaryllis (Shadow Hearts Covenant) vs. Marionette Messiah (Super Robot Wars OGs) - At least it looks like the Messiah hype train goes no further.  I suppose it consoles me somewhat that Messiah was undoubtedly competing against the scrubbiest pools.  But Messiah is the odd one out by a lot in the final 8, to me at least.
Battle with the Four Fiends (Final Fantasy IV) vs. EXEC_SPHILIA/. (Ar Tonelico 2) - Oh, man.  This one is tough.  Both are extremely good with some very minor flaws.  I think Battle's shortness tiebreaks against it here, as making 5 minutes interesting is hard.
Main Theme (Orchestral) (Parasite Eve) vs. Song of Mana (Legend of Mana) - Also very tough.  Coinflip.

My top favorites didn't make it this far, but at least there's definitely some very strong quality left.  Agree with Tonfa though, if another music tournament gets run, I'd hope that repeats that did very well in earlier tournies (say, pool champions and above; the top 16) are left out.

MAIN TOURNAMENT

Nefertiti (Mana Khemia) vs. STIGMATA (Mana Khemia) - This is basically a Four-star track vs. a Five-star track. Both are good, but one is just a smidge better.

The Fate ~ Cluster Amaryllis (Shadow Hearts Covenant) vs. Marionette Messiah (Super Robot Wars OGs) - Easy

Battle with the Four Fiends (Final Fantasy IV) vs. EXEC_SPHILIA/. (Ar Tonelico 2) - Also easy

Main Theme (Orchestral) (Parasite Eve) vs. Song of Mana (Legend of Mana) - Ehhh. Both of these are good but overhyped. I'll go with Parasite Eve, but I'm not especially thrilled about this match.
