Title: 2010 Fantasy Football- Week 3- Yakko never benches Javhid Best ever again.

I'm in of course. Approve of the third flex spot.

But of course.

Support the flex spot, will think a bit on the PPR. Should be okay.

Of course I'm in, I have to defend my title~

I'm fine with the flex spot but WRs were pretty strong last year even without the PPR.  Will think on that one a bit as well.

I agree with Shale in the other thread though, don't do the draft until right before the season starts.

As much as I loathe fantasy football, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I miss this for the third season in a row.

Generically don't mind either proposed rule change, though I'd have to see the existing roster setup and scoring system to have a more meaningful opinion.

Kilga: 1 point for every ten yards, 6 points for every TD. (For WRs/TEs).

I meant overall, but .5/rec isn't too bad given those.

Draft date: August 1st sound okay? If we do it much later we'll run into DLC slowing things down, and Ciato will be out at sea after that for a few weeks.

Can't do August 1st, it's the tail end of Otakon.

EDIT: Might just be easier to list the days I can't do it.

Any time between July 28th and August 1st inclusive
August 15th

Anything else, I'll make time for, but those dates have been locked in for a long time.

August the second, in that case. It'll be a board draft, so it won't be super time intensive.

1. Super 2. Yakko 3. Mepmep/Baconforthesoul 4. Ciato 5. Shale  6. Trips. 7. Scar. 8. Kilgamayan

Draft order.  It will be reversed each round, same as before.  The draft is 15 rounds, and everyone is required to draft a kicker and defense. Is there any objection to the PPR format?

Related related note: Minutes after that happened, Corell Buckhalter injured his back. Earlier this week, the Broncos traded their third RB to the Eagles for a linebacker. An undrafted rookie is now at the top of their depth chart.

They counted on Buckhalter to stay healthy. If that isn't asking for it, I don't know what is. Well, drafting Brian Westbrook 1 overall. Thanks UD, you saved my season.

Going to get the draft started slightly early, since I know who I'm picking.

Rookie QBs are never worth drafting outside of dynasty leagues.

TE's a deep position this year, and Fasano may not even crack the top 16 there. I am massively unimpressed with him in FF, especially with two good running backs on the roster for red zone looks and Brandon Marshall around.

Henne looks poised to target Fasano a lot this year when Marshall isn't able to free himself from the triple cover schemes teams will throw at him.

Or Davone Bess will get a lot of looks, either way I am loving Miami's O this year.
Title: Re: 2010 NFL FF League Draft
Post by: Kilgamayan on August 22, 2010, 08:25:19 PM
Rookie QBs are never worth drafting outside of dynasty leagues.

I'd say that's more a product of the systems colleges run than mere inexperience. If I'm in a 12-man league and a rookie QB that played in a pro system in college wins his team's starting job, I might take a flier on them as a backup. Matt Ryan's a decent example, and Jimmy Clausen would have been pretty tempting this year if not for Matt Moore.

Someone like Tebow, though? No. Not even if Orton wasn't in his way.
Title: Re: 2010 NFL FF League Draft
Post by: superaielman on August 22, 2010, 08:32:58 PM
Matt Ryan was like the one exception to that rule. He was 15th best overall at QB in 08. Peyton Manning did well his first year fantasy wise, and otherwise it is a wasteland. Even if a rookie QB plays well like Ben did in 04, it rarely translates to being worth a damn in the FF format.
Title: Re: 2010 NFL FF League Draft
Post by: BaconForTheSoul on August 23, 2010, 02:05:18 AM
Timmy was a joke pick for me obviously.  First couple weeks the rosters get shifted a lot and last couple picks rarely hang around.  I didn't feel like doing research so I took comic relief.

As for Bradford... probably a stretch, but Kitna put up some stupid numbers in Detroit's system so we'll see what Sammy does.  (Regardless, Kolb is the fucking man.)
Title: Re: 2010 NFL FF League Draft
Post by: Kilgamayan on August 23, 2010, 02:36:13 AM
Bradford's in the Rams system. I think you're thinking of Stafford, who might actually be worth something in the next couple of years. The problem with that team right now isn't him, so who knows.

That said, my office has a 55 person pool.  It's just a weekly pick the winner for 5 bucks.  I won week 2 for 150 bucks (entire season costs 85) and it put me in a tie for first overall... after 2 weeks!  Looking good there despite my 0-4 fantasy start in 2 leagues.

My only 49er in the other league is Gore, and he tore it the fuck up last week.  I actually had a good week, but the guy I played led the league in points.  Shit, I'm 4th in points in that league outta 10, but this is no bueno.

Pts Against
235.40
208.60
204.80
184.80
183.60
176.60
166.00
159.60
150.80
145.60

Average score is 90.79.  Average score vs me is 117.7!  (Granted it's been 2 weeks.)

In this league... I just fucking suck beyond belief!  Enjoy your free wins guys!

Yeah, I am in favor of setting his lineup. It's just a for fun league.

Edit: Yakko said it was fine, so going to set his lineup. *whaps Mep

If you don't want to have to make personnel moves for Mep again you might want to remind him that he doesn't have an active QB on his roster for this week and needs to set his lineup.

Who would have figured my fantasy football team with the worst record ends up winning in the end.

Well, I ended up 1 out of 5 as far as winning the entire thing. Came close, all my teams made it to the playoffs, but only...

This one was championship worthy!

Not too bad for a trophy I guess. Still need to find a J Charles picture somewhere.
