Okay, so we need a banner. We can probably have multiple banners for different pages (such as "About" or "Guides" or "LFT"), but the main page needs a main banner.
So... submit some!
I know Idun's working on some, and Tide might have a few ideas. If anyone else is handy with Photoshop, please submit!
Here's my banner idea for review. Suggestions/constructive criticism welcome.
Colorized close-ups concept:

Blue-toned with cut-ins:

I don't like Raquel on there, her art seems far too fuzzy compared to the other two.
-
I agree with Neph about Raquel. Also, I like the one with Lenneth focusing better than the crying one. The cutins are a cool effect but the the art for Lenneth and Raquel is awkward. Chris's art looks good though all around.
-
I agree, a crying lady isn't exactly how you want to advertise yourself.
-
I realize I'm slacking. Anyway, I have multiple banners I haven't done anything to besides add characters. The one I'm interested in working with most is this:
(I'm not sure if any of the characters are ranked, or if it should truly matter given the coverage the site plans to have)
Ignore the white spots, and the black background. I just like the diagonals each figure makes with each other.

edit* the other banners are .psd and I'll .jpg them when I get home from work.
edit 2* btw I can fix Chris's sword.
TO WORK
-
I like the perspective. The polish want is already stated, but the perspective shown there is fine. Also, one of the characters used isn't necessarily ranked (well, directly) but the other two are anyhow, and the third, if I'm right, is from a ranked game, so it's all good even if you're going to be restrictive about this.
-
The jagged-y parts of Chris probably would show up less on a different kind of background but you probably know that already anyway.
-
NOTE! Hal mentioned this when I showed him my first drafts: 400 height is WAY TOO BIG. Cut it down to 250 or 200.
This makes it easier on everyone. still 996 pixels long, of course.
Also, I really like what you've got going on there.
-
I was going to work on it, but I work through Saturday evening. If I have enough energy then, I'll try to finish them up. If not, I will when I visit Charles if I have a good internet connection. Sorry.

10/10 would lulz again

Eh. Could be better, but whatever. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/SnakeEyez8/KnockoutPunch.png)

I vote for Lance's. At the very least as a temp banner for now so that we aren't using the generic one we have now.

Very cute!~

One of those should have Chris's somewhat finished sword. That said, tell me everything you don't like and do like, from the typography to the arrangements to the colors (I don't personally feel they're dark blue enough).
That's just one of the banner types I'm messing with. I need to collect cutesy character imagery now, like MM, Meeple(??), etc. etc. because I'd like a more childish, playful one.
-
#1- It's nice if we want to go with something subdued (and there's a good argument for that) in terms of the color scheme. Although certainly Chris' sword could be touched up on that one. If we did go with this design, I'd want to see the RPGDL have a little something added to it. The plain white just looks out of place when everything else is shaded and changes hues.
#2- The colors pop nicely, but there's too much shadow; everything looks a bit muddy. I like this RPGDL insignia the best, but with the darker blues the other text is barely readable.
#3- This one just doesn't do a lot for me. The little color touches look out of place to me with the greyscale.
-
I like the second one aside from not being able to read the bottom text well. The third.... I think it would be neat with just the red and not the blue/yellow. Maybe add a bit more red to compensate or something?
-
First really looks the best to me. Readable, good contrast, etc.
The second is too harsh - really bright blue that does not contrast at all. Plus you can't read the text.
The third's colour scheme does not work well - the background looks so chaotic it distracts from the rest of the picture.
-
The first one is certainly my favorite, though Chris' sword does need to be sharpened. Also, the random splash of red on Belcoot's swordhilt is weird.
The second one is overall good, particularly the RPGDL logo itself. But since the first one is much better, I'd just take the logo from this and add it to the first one.
The third one would be okay if it weren't for the random color splotches. And even with them, I kinda like it, except that I would move the blue one to behind the RPGDL logo. As is, it looks like you're shining a blue spotlight on Dylan's crotch.
But yeah, my big suggestion would be: Use #1 with the Logo from #2, fix Chris' sword and ditch the red hilt. Profit.
-
The top of his hair is also splashed red, which is a result of color burn. I can fix it. I'll begin working on a mega-man-ish one next week.
-
It doesn't look too bad splashed there. It's just the random bright red by his hilt that looks jarring.
-
Wow I can't believe you guys didn't like my amazing banner that I made before.

It's the font. Terrible.

(It should be in parentheses)
