Being all producer-y and stuff, I want to consolidate information in a single place. I've thought of Wikis, just using the boards, using IRC, or setting up a Wordpress, but ultimately I'd like to just consolidate it all on a single page that's specifically for this purpose. It's likely going to run on a Wordpress backbone, but that's neither here nor there until we have a domain set.
For that domain name, I think we need a "studio" name to go behind it. Andrew and I brainstormed a few options, and I wanted everyone's input. Didn't want to steal anything "RPGDL"-ish, and went from there.
I'd like if we could decide from the poll. If everyone feels really strongly for something else, though, let's talk!

Obviously the name should represent the design teams ideals.
This game (and, ideally, those to follow) is born from two desires. The first, to let the DL's talents shine through. And those talents of course are being crazy math people, those who can look at numbers and from them deduce what makes the games they adore work. They want to take those principles, and assemble them into a stronger whole, one that's more engaging, more balanced, and better represents the core of RPGs as a genre. The second is to scoff in the face of conventional wisdom. To say that no, RPGs are not dead, turn-based systems are not archaic, and the future of the genre lies not in sloppily hybridizing with other genres, but in relaying the foundation of what makes RPGs unique.
Numbers enough to make anyone crosseyed. Rogues flipping off the masses.
Crosseye Rogues.
In any event I like the idea of having rogue in the name, but deliberately calling yourself Indie sits poorly with me.
-
Indie Rogue was totally a joke suggestion. Andrew wasn't comfortable dropping "rogue" because, well, his username and all.
I like the idea of the name reflecting the origins, which is actually where "Query Games" came in. A bit of reference to coding, a nod to asking questions (of the gaming industry, amongst ourselves, about the process).
I should also note I'm no opposed to including "RPGDL" or any version thereof, I just didn't want to presume to borrow the name when it means a lot to a lot of people.

In any case, if we like the Rogue idea (or any other) in another suit, everyone want to suggest a riff off it?
-
I like "Studio" over "Games" for the name.
The only suggestions that even look viable are Lampeye and Query. Both of which I like better with "Studio" over "Games".
I'm still all for using a modified RPGDL-type name like "League of Duels Studio" or "LD Studio" (Studio LD?), to keep in mind our origins (though not entirely tying us to the DL if outside people ever join the team).
Barring that, I also just like the word "Rogue", so anything with that moniker in it is also pretty cool. "Crosseye Rogue Studio" isn't bad, "CrossRogue", "XEyeRogue", or even just "Rogue Games/Studio" is fine with me.
Hmm... throwing my support to Lampeye, though I like "LanternEye" better for aesthetic purposes (Also can see some cool logos with that.)
-
"Query Games" looks nice to me, actually, but I think it would be better with the word "Studio" instead of "Games."
-
Split the difference and go with Rogue Query? Studios without Games or Studio in their names are also good.
-
Seconding Rogue Query here. I like the way it sounds, myself.
-
RogueQuery.com is already taken.
Does that matter to anyone?
(That's true of a lot of the suggestions, by the way - the obvious <name>.com versions are taken. For a few, the nearby names are taken by related (ie, game development) companies/groups.)

I need to buy the domain on Thursday so I can get the website set up, so it's time to bear down on final choices!
-
How about QueryRogue.com
-
Eh, it doesn't matter much to me if .com is taken if there's another viable site.
-
I like some of the suggestions domain registrars are giving.
RogueQuery.com is taken. How about...
* RogueQueryMedia
* TheRogueQuery
* RogueQueryFish
* AngelsRogueQuery
* CheatQuery
* CheatingBastard
I honestly like RogueQueryMedia, and I am uncommonly fond of TheRogueQuery (sounds like "The Rookery" if you slur it, and I love me some corvidae), but some of the others had me scratching my head. I get the ones for Rogue River, but ... fish? angels? cheating bastard? what? o_o The ones that use a simple thesaurus run are also hilarious: RapscallionQuestion, SuffisantQuery, ArrogantQuery, etc.
(Not a fan of Query Rogue, fwiw.)
-
I like TheRogueQuery honestly. RogueQueryMedia is also acceptable.
-
No love for CheatingBastard.com? ;-;
RogueQueryMedia works.
-
No real preference here.
-
I most definitely would not mind CheatingBastard. :P
But I guess we'll go with RogueQueryMedia instead.
-
Gonna echo some sentiments here and say I like "TheRogueQuery," though CheatingBastard would be pretty cool too :3c
-
Alright! Going with Rogue Query Media. Will also buy The Rogue Query because why the hell not, domains are cheap.
More info and an actual page coming sometime this weekend. Whee.
Welcome to Rogue Query Media, guys.
-
Awesome! Throwing some too-late support for TheRogueQuery, but RQM is the sexiest abbreviation.
-
The name doesn't HAVE to completely match the website name. I'm more down with just Rogue Query than Rogue Query Media. The latter works for just the website though
