Whoops, kinda switched subjects around there. My alternate case, not my Ned case, is the one I am more likely to pursue come Day 2.

Word choice indeed.

Sidelining ongoing issues in favor of doing little else but pressure lurkers is an argument to follow (which you have), but it's a queer little artefact that you should hold on to so tightly from all of this.

It's not the only thing I've seen that I'm willing to throw a vote down on; in fact, I am more likely to pursue it on Day 2 than Ned should he survive somehow. The issue is that it is irrelevant to the current situation.

Queen edit: See above, I suppose.

Queen: Very large difference between voting for lurkers and voting about lurkers, m'dear. Why, specifically, do you dislike the parts of my case against Ned that you dislike? What specific parts of it are wrong? I think we're better off going in this direction.

I also don't see what the hangup is about clearing up misconceptions. Dude asked me for my opinion on Excel and I gave it. (In retrospect, it might have been wrong, but there it was nonetheless.) Death v. Crow was the same thing, except Dude's request wasn't as direct.

Excel, please stop trying to convince me that I was wrong when I chalked your Page 3 post up to human error.

Are we starting to drop posting styles? Good, this one was much more of a pain in the ass than I thought it would be and I'm pretty sure I was butchering it anyway.

Ned: You are being attacked for voting for people that did not need votes for the reasons you were providing. The rules clearly stated that not posting over a 24-hour span would result in a modkill. (The fact that this has since been debunked for now by the mod is, of course, irrelevant.) If instant mod death wasn't going to be enough of a motivator to post then they sure weren't going to be afraid of a vote or two.

What you're doing is what we in the biz like to call "active lurking". You're talking a whole bunch but saying very little, and your votes have no bite whatsoever, they're just mechanical "oh hey so-and-so isn't talking here's some motivation for them to talk" where said motivation wasn't even relevant.

Queen: I'm going after lurkers? You mean like when I voted for Ash? And yet Ned looks good to you, when he has never voted for anyone except because they were lurking (or to save his own skin, but everyone knows that's a null tell). He can talk as big a game as he wants about as many people as he wants but it doesn't mean a whole lot if it's not backed up with votes.

No time to construct a multi-paragraph metaphor where I never refer to myself or use anything other than third-person references. With 35 minutes to go, I haven't changed my mind on Ned, and that's where my vote is staying.

Gotta go.

Language. There is perhaps no weapon more powerful for mankind than what he says and how he says it. When used incorrectly, it can devastate friends, family, even entire nations.

...Stop me if you've heard this one.

It is quite often that those who don't think highly of their own intellect have the best things to say. For example, take Yangus, who has correctly completed the puzzle by stating that Excel did not realize the deadline was approaching in her initial search for edge pieces and only noticed the second time around.

These missing words only serve to demonstrate how powerful language can be. If Yangus had not found them, further misunderstand may have occurred, and their meaning could have been lost forever...in the Twilight Zone.

<->

Accountability. Another one of man's powerful tools. In this case, likely too powerful to be ignored by those it may come back to haunt.

Consider Ash v. Excel. Ash has claimed that Excel is trying to shift accountability away from herself in claiming that people should wait for the Queen to post before lynching her. A bit of a stretch, as it implies that, should the Queen be lynched and flip town, Excel would appear again the next day and claim the lynch was not her fault because she warned everyone not to lynch before the Queen posted. Were this to happen, then Excel would deservedly be the target of ire, and she would gladly be welcomed into the Twilight Zone, but no one can vote without being aware of the accountability they would hold should their vote target flip town.

In fact, one can theorize that Excel has already acknowledged this issue of accountability by being willing to vote for the probably lynch candidate many hours before the deadline, while knowing full well that she will not be able to return to change her mind if necessary.

Language. There is perhaps no weapon more powerful for mankind than what he says and how he says it. When used incorrectly, it can devastate friends, family, even entire nations.

Submitted for your approval is Excel, potentially the most recent victim of a misunderstanding via incorrect word usage. Her erratic actions have drawn attention. Is this attention justified? To best answer this question, it is best to look at not only what she responded with, but what she responded to.

Exhibit A: An important line from The Dude.

Does anyone have a problem with getting rid of Queen Liz right now?

Reading this statement and Excel's reaction to it carefully, one can see where confusion may arise. Human error can be attributed to mixing up the intention of removing the Queen immediately with merely asking the immediate surrounding audience their opinion.

Exhibit B: The same important line from The Dude, but slightly tweaked.

Does anyone, right now, have a problem with getting rid of Queen Liz?

A simple two-word shift. All that is necessary to clear up confusion.

As for Excel's quick turnaround, it is plausible that she did not realize the deadline was fast approaching. Another simple mix-up, and a null tell at best.

Clarity has always been key to avoiding misunderstandings. Word choice is powerful, but it is still a double-edged sword. If a man is not careful with it, he may find himself without his friends or family, and if he climbs even higher up his own wall of text, he may just find himself trapped...in the Twilight Zone.

By the by, Roddy. I see why Ned might be suspicious, but is it really worth a vote at this point?

The voting process. The Swiss Army Knife of our little game of life and death. It can be used for a variety of reasons and it even has the power to end life. It is man's duty to be responsible with handling it, lest he accidentally stab himself or his fellow man.

Questions such as the one posed by Ash, therefore, are legitimate concerns. If one does not know how to handle is Swiss Army Knife, perhaps it is better off taken away from him, as you would a small child that got their curious hands on one before they inject the corkscrew into their eye. However, Ash need not worry. While lynching to avoid No Lynch is something everyone must be properly prepared for, the number one priority in voting is to hunt scum, which is why one small blade is now pointing in Mr. Flanders's direction. When attendance is not an issue, as it will not be today, there is no need to change the blades of priority. Rest assured that this hex key will tighten the screws of the Queen's demise if and when necessary. In the Twilight Zone, that time may have already passed, but here on the moon, it has not approached yet.

Queen is at L-1

Welcome to the Twilight Zone, a world where 4 votes is L-1 when it takes 6 to lynch.

Consider, if you will, one Ned Flanders, seemingly normal victim like any of the rest of us. Perhaps he has been listening to the advice of one Jason Foster and donned a Mardi Gras mask designed to be the exact opposite of his personality. He spends his time yelling wildly in the streets, but his meaningful contributions to the sinister celebration are limited to voting for inactives. What Mr. Flanders may not realize is that, by the rules of this twisted party, no one can cease celebration for 24 hours without being escorted from the premises, thereby making his voting pointless at best...and a mask displaying helpfulness at worst. Combine this with a reasonable answer from Ash, and you get

##Unvote: Ash
##Vote: Ned Flanders

However, Mr. Flanders may be spared retribution for his sins by further twisted party rules - thanks to both police enforcement and fire safety codes, one of the partygoers must leave, or everyone's buzz will be killed. Attention is thus turned to Elizabeth, Queen of England, who has done herself no favors amongst the other guests. Her time is perhaps slowly ticking away, and, if necessary, her fellow party-goers will call a taxi and have her inebriated mind chauffuered home...to the Twilight Zone.

Death and Crow T. Robot. Just two of the many neighbors residing on this new Maple Street, and no different from all the neighbors before them. A simple misunderstanding, a difference of opinion, these tools...the tools of prejudice, paranoia, and Day 1 suckitude...are all it takes for the Planet Eaters to set innocent upon innocent.

Maple Street and its fine citizens can, of course, be saved, if it looks beyond the seeds of prejudice and toward the wicked gardeners trying to fertilize those seeds. Gardeners such as Ash, nourishing the seeds by aggressively jumping to the defense of one who did not need it.

##Unvote: Khan
##Vote: Ash

Of course, not all gardeners tend to their gardens so aggressively. Take one Ned Flanders, who claims to have been contributing but has yet to take a meaningful stance on any of his neighbors. The meticulous care he gives the seeds should not go unrealized in the face of flashier presentation.

Maple Street needs no more of these gardens, and must clip the prejudice plants with rational thought, lest the Planet Eaters lock them in the garden shed...that is...The Twilight Zone.

DL Mafia. A recipe for success wherever it goes, and one that is quite simple to follow; pour 11 cups of townie into a topic, add a dash of traitorous motives, mix well and bake for three to five days. This recipe is currently being put to use...in the kitchens of the Planet Eaters.

Today, as it has so many times in the past, this recipe will produce yet another stellar entrée, worthy of the finest restaurants in France. However, unbeknownst to the Planet Eaters, they are terribly allergic to DL Mafia, and, upon consumption, will embark on a physical - and mental - journey for the ages, just like the townies in their recipe, whose job in perfecting the dish will be to root out the bad ingredients.

Ingredients such as vengeful anger. Too much anger and the dish will be charred beyond all culinary recognition. The master chef knows when and how to cut out unwanted additions, and he must do so now.
##Vote: Khan

Will the townies survive this epic journey and make it out of Hell's Kitchen safely? Or will the Planet Eaters get over their sickness and return to their stoves to try another dish? The answers can only be found...in the recipe Rolodex...of the Twilight Zone.

Throwing this out between classes/errands.

I am a vanilla townie and my current suspicions lay on Jabba (low content and general lack of attention) and Freeman (complete lack of worthwhile content). Gandalf is running in right behind them with his currently unsubstantiated claim. Nimitz is a totally neutral read and Terminator generally seems positive to me.

Terminator: Although that's the ultimate end goal of scum is such, its not the only effective method for scum to act. Inaction, subtle ploys to keep discussion from building, distracting from important matters... All of it serves as a viable method for scum to disrupt town. They are also correctable, especially if you start them in the early game. His early behavior was subtly disruptive, and, combined with the contrast against White Witch, I felt it did bear watching. As I said, I feel he's stepped up since then though.

Jabba: His attack isn't coming across too clear to me. I think the problem with his conflict with Terminator is that he's missing out on the distinction between what White Witch did and what Gandalf did. Since you've brought it up though, I really think you need to elaborate on these more "incriminating things" that you allude to. Like, really badly.

Currently, my major problem lies with Mace Windu. Not only does he throw up the shield of being too busy to bother with generating discussion which is... completely useless. A convenient excuse for laying low if he's against us, and an unfortunate circumstance that is still making him useless if he's with us. What really bothers me about his last post is that he introduces nothing helpful. He points out some logic that could go either way with the night kill and then claims my vote on Gandalf yesterday was a joke vote? This does not inspire confidence. Perhaps you could go back and clear up your point?

##Vote: Mace Windu

As far as the other players go...

Gandalf: Is still lingering in the back of my mind. The joke vote was incredibly poorly timed. Still, I don't quite put as much weight on his opposition to the White Witch as, fundamentally, I understand where the objection was coming from. Still, the points in favor of the White Witch were well brought up: discussion does have to start somewhere and, lacking any other method, a random train is as good as any. I consider him a worthwhile candidate.

Freeman: Not really too confident here either. It really feels like he's padding lighter posts with fluff to some degree. At the same time, he's still made some decent points. Overall, I'd say he bears some watching.

Terminator: Townie read the entire way.

The rest of the group weighs in at various shades of neutral at the moment.

Oh dear, oh dear. I think I see Death here...

At this point, I find the actions of Master Wookie more distressing than those of Gandalf. Gandalf properly shifted away once it was made clear that we were not joking around (although why he'd think we were in the first place still bothers me). Furthermore, while his concerns about the White Witch are misgiven (something does need to happen to make the day start), I can certainly understand why he would initially attribute that as negative attack.

Master Wookie, on the other hand, appears not to be even involved in the same effort as all of us. He's not paying attention to who is actually involved in the affair and he's voting for one person but meaning another. I don't like this. Not at all, not at all. Add in that he's now dangled out a correction to all his actions at a later point when we're nearly out of time... that just doesn't sound good to me at all.

Oh sure, gang up on me. Its not like anything else ever happens. I could be half a world away, and I'm sure you all would still be blaming me for this. You're just jumping all over me because I know better than to just throw out votes on someone for no reason at all. What about people who are really just sitting back and hiding, huh? At least I put myself out here, for all that that's getting me.

##Vote: Master Wookie

Sure, go ahead and show up while I'm busy posting. I see how it is. Fine. Moving on then. *throws up his hands* Also,  GLaDOS seems neutral? Its the one that trapped us here!

Gandalf may be a fine and proper wizard, pointy hat and all, and cats may indeed be cruel viscious creatures who only put up with us until a paw-operatable can-opener is invented, but why're you still joking around when people are seriously starting to consider things at this point. Is this all a joke to you? Seriously! Lives at are stake. My life! And I'm quite attached to it!

Great, wonderful! There will be cake! And I'm sure it'll be poisonous cake, or summon creatures from the dungeon dimension, or just do all around unpleasant things to me. Wonderful, just wonderful! Well let's all just have a fun and wonderful time before we're all killed by each other or monsters or Death or...
