General Chat / Re: 2008 NFL season: Yearning to go 8-8.
« on: May 21, 2008, 10:41:20 PM »
Just yesterday two important things happened.

1. The NFL Owners opted out of the current agreement with the NFLPA. Meaning in the close future we may have a season with no salary caps. In short, we may see the richer franchises bulk up while the weaker ones just watch and moan in displeasure. Good thing is, it won't start to affect us until the next few years. Although there is some time bought with this...its not much.

2. The Super Bowl in 2012 has been announced that it will be in Indianapolis. And while I'm excited about it. People will complain for the fact that its placed in a Cold Weather City. Thing is, Indianapolis is a much better choice than what Detroit ever was. And it should benefit the economy here for the few years up to it.

Thing is, we have the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400 here every year and that brings alot of people as well. Plus they usually are a site in the NCAA Tournament. Especially the Final 4.

Okay, now this is one way to give a reason why you are late to work. This was also on Gamefaqs but not everyone goes there constantly.

This is interesting, is everyone here hoping for the matchup of Celtics vs. Lakers? Or is there a select few that rather have another snoozefest in SA vs. DET.

Because if its the latter, might as well put a blanket on me and wake me next November. But I would also be fine with Celtics vs. Spurs if only it was a way that it showed the 'changing of the guard'.

Anyway, Game 1 of the East Finals is tonight and I'm going to root for Boston...(I have no qualms with them like I do with Detroit)

Darn it I missed the no-no last night. Now Lester has another thing on his list alongside of overcoming cancer. He's in pretty good company when it comes to left handed pitchers in Boston. First one to do so in 50~ years?

UltraDude: I have Nady and McLouth in my fantasy leagues. They carry the bulk of the BA for me.

Discussion / Re: Is the PS3 gaining ground on XBox and Wii?
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:37:42 PM »
When I watched the conference at E3 concerning the PS3, I absolutely felt sick to my stomach as to how they forced this down on us. They really became so arrogant during those last ten years before releasing this system, that they are just now starting to feel the bruises all over them.

Of course, everyone on Gamefaqs and probably here shouted disdain. And still do, because you have all those meme's that were birthed from it. And while it took aeons before they started wising up, I think they will have to take a look into the future for the next series of consoles to see what they did wrong and go from there.

Wii and XBox 360 all the while points and laughs to an extent.

For a major fact, most of us on here are in school or just starting our career jobs, and don't have the funds to get stuff like that at the moment. Some of us can remember the failures such as Phillips CD-I and 3DO.

Well, I don't have to worry much about my PS2 since I haven't played it for hours on end constantly. But sometime soon I will get that urge to play almost everyday and if it happens during that time, I'll have to pay the piper for it.

I'm just happy that the White Sox are winning the AL Central right now. Compared to the last 2 years, it hasn't been very good...

Guess getting Swisher and others was a good thing.

(Note, I've been a White Sox fan since 94-95, around the time MJ was still in their farm system. Yeah, that's weird)

Yeah, I noticed when they removed the BC that it would cause some backlash. But then again why not hold onto your PS2 and the problem is solved at least for that aspect? Guess some people feel that "upgrading" means leaving everything else in the dust and never considering using it again.

Which is why it means more for the antique dealers.

9
Remember, its no longer the devil rays either. And for those who thought Detroit and Cleveland would be neck and neck for the AL Central...guess again.

Also we need a mod to change the subtitle every so often to relate the goings on in the league in general.

Also...Thong Thong Thong Thong Thong! (If you don't get it, go read the latest Yankee articles...)

General Chat / Re: DL Also Stands for Dream Log

I never seem to remember most of my dreams. But they sometimes seem to involve me in worlds of conflict. Probably more based on an anime I saw recently. Has there been one that anybody has had this in?

I haven't heard anything regarding that the system is on its death knell or anything. But I also haven't heard that it's ahead of the competition either. Maybe I haven't looked at the numbers well enough. And since it came out, the PS3 has reduced its price several times, but not enough for everyone to go get one just yet.

I for one am waiting till it goes down to 350-300 at most.

Your thoughts?

Even though the unbanning of Gay marriage has happened. I would really think that others who try to argue their case on marrying their pets or objects as pretty much illogical, Otter. Mainly for the fact that a person is showing love towards another person whom they want to spend the rest of their lives with.

And although I seemingly am on the fence on this, mainly because my family shares the sentiment that 1 man and 1 women always and forever. And I respect that. I'm not trying to spit on their beliefs either even though I am a Christian as well. I am usually thinking "Why not? You're not going to change them just by banning it."

Anyway, I know Churches are going to freak out about this, but they need to relax as its not a direct attack on them.
