Chef Hat vs Bandana
Chef Hat vs Baseball Cap
Chef Hat vs Sombrero - FF9 status blocking hype?  Yeah I don't think so.

Bandana vs Baseball Cap
Bandana vs Sombrero

Baseball Cap vs Sombrero - So the four problems here are that 1) Ness's status accuracy isn't even that good and if sleep lands that can get berried off anyways (EB paralysis is useless since pokemon don't have normal attacks), 2) Ludicolo has Swift Swim and Rain Dance, this not lets Ludicolo lap but to me gives it a 3-2 on team Baseball Cap, 3) Junpei is weak to wind and Ricardo has wind magic, and 4) Ludicolo probably 2HKOs Ness after Rain Dance once Ricardo buffs it with Don't Cry, Baby (damage figures may vary based on generation) and Ness's only hope is for a miss to happen at the right time.  I think that's too much and PSI Flash would need to be able to connect more often than it does for me to believe otherwise.

Alear & Marth (FE Engage) vs. Emelious (Grandia 3) - Not completely sure since Emelious misses the OHKO and I have no respect for G3 techs against comprehensive evasion, but Alear doesn't double and Emelious does have some measure of durability and evasion of his own, and I'm not certain Lodestar Rush helps enough.  Maybe if Alear can get two off in time  e: going with this, G3 evasion is still less comprensive so I'm not using Engage specials/Surge as justification to claim that this is actually free but I'm not convinced this actually matters given Emelious's speed.
Alear & Marth vs. Rudo (Brigandine LoR) - Clean Military Rule clears the coinflip threshhold and Rudo goes first.
Alear & Marth vs. Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile 1) - e: Lenneth's that accurate?  well ok then.
Alear & Marth vs. Celes (Final Fantasy 6) - Should survive Lodestar Rush, uses Imp.
Alear & Marth vs. Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy 5) - Pick a status and pray.
Alear & Marth vs. Neclord (Suikodens) - I think Neclord2 goes first and just IDs?  I don't remember Neclord1 at all.  Maybe if I did I'd vote on that form instead.
Alear & Marth vs. Wakka (Final Fantasy X) - Good news for Alear is that I see Lodestar Rush bypassing E&C.  Bad news is uh it doesn't OHKO to me so Attack Reels happens.
Alear & Marth vs. Hugo (Suikoden 3) - e: right, that detail.
Alear & Marth vs. Ephraim (Fire Emblem 8) - Eph is accurate and goes first but doesn't OHKO or one-round.  I think Alear can Lodestar Rush + rapier their way out from there?  Engage specials being ITE and uncounterable is definitely a boon here, as is Alear having +4 AS on Eph.
Alear & Marth vs. Chie (Persona 4) - I can't really muster that much respect for Auto-Sukukaja from Miori Shirts these days but even if I could, Lodestar Rush just means Chie's gameplan doesn't really work.
Alear & Marth vs. Alain (Unicorn Overlord) - Given Alain's durablity, I have to think that eventually, Spinning Edge will land.

Oracle (Bravely Default II) vs. Emelious (Grandia 3) - Should be faster and durable enough to survive a brave blitz.  Elemental Supplement won't help in that case.
Oracle vs. Rudo (Brigandine LoR) - Unlike here, where it definitely makes Clean Military Rule survivable.  I think that's enough?
Oracle vs. Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile 1) - lol nvm Mandatory Wind Talisman God for Icefire setup means Oracle goes first.
Oracle vs. Celes (Final Fantasy 6) - Ah yes Oracle basic physicals will definitely outslug.  Imp makes everything moot, of course.
Oracle vs. Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy 5)
Oracle vs. Neclord (Suikodens) - Oracle looks like they can block ID at a slight speed hit (probably outspeeds Neclord anyways) but the fire nulling means Neclord may well survive a brave blitz anyways.  Abstain.
Oracle vs. Wakka (Final Fantasy X) - lol nvm TKO exists
Oracle vs. Hugo (Suikoden 3) - Seems like a brave blitz barely does the job and Oracle be faster.
Oracle vs. Ephraim (Fire Emblem 8) - I don't think Eph doubles with anything that would one-round so Elemental Supplement with the absorb setup is go.
Oracle vs. Chie (Persona 4) - Chie *also* gets owned forever by Elemental Supplement absorb setup.
Oracle vs. Alain (Unicorn Overlord) - Oracle would need to not go for the absorb setup to beat out Alain's initiative and he's far out of Oracle's ability to outslug.

Throne (Octopath Traveller II) vs. Emelious (Grandia 3) - Agree that Throne wins in 3 turns (I use the 2-turn average but see Emelious as less durable) but I don't credit 8PT2 speed as mattering so his doubleturns come too fast for her to get those.
Throne vs. Rudo (Brigandine LoR) - That said I'm going to credit it more than anything pertaining to Brig initiative.
Throne vs. Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile 1) - Too much offense.
Throne vs. Celes (Final Fantasy 6)
Throne vs. Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy 5)
Throne vs. Neclord (Suikodens)
Throne vs. Wakka (Final Fantasy X) - Definitely on team FFX Osmose not mattering for MP kills.
Throne vs. Hugo (Suikoden 3)
Throne vs. Ephraim (Fire Emblem 8) - Yep.
Throne vs. Chie (Persona 4) - Veil of Darkness means this is probably right on average.  Evasion could mess things up but given Chie would need Power Charge to outrace AR this would only really matter if I respected P4 turnspeed any more than 8PT2 turnspeed and, well, I don't.
Throne vs. Alain (Unicorn Overlord) - Alain does a bit more than "almost" kill Throne to me.  Not that this matters.

Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves Christmas) vs. Emelious (Grandia 3) - Sounds like this is correct from Elf's analysis
Cthulhu vs. Rudo (Brigandine LoR) - The superior overlord, clearly.
Cthulhu vs. Lenneth (Valkyrie Profile 1)
Cthulhu vs. Celes (Final Fantasy 6) - Impthulhu, the This Way Madness Lies boss that no one talks about.
Cthulhu vs. Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy 5)
Cthulhu vs. Neclord (Suikodens)
Cthulhu vs. Wakka (Final Fantasy X)
Cthulhu vs. Hugo (Suikoden 3) - I guess the argument for sleep immunity is stun+vuln combo?  Meh, close enough I guess.
Cthulhu vs. Ephraim (Fire Emblem 8)
Cthulhu vs. Chie (Persona 4) - I don't... think PC God Hand OHKOs to me unless Cthulhu inflicts insanity... but he can do that with Terrify and not have to worry about evade screwing things up later, I think?  Perhaps if didn't side-eye Miori Shirt evade hype.
Cthulhu vs. Alain (Unicorn Overlord)

i keep forgetting that he has auto-taru

I still have no real read on how non-Gen1 forms of Mewtwo fare against Shania but that's a repeat match anyways so whatever.

Light:

Marianne von Edmund (FE3H) vs. Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - Repeat.

Pools:

Godlike: Magus (CT), Zio (PSIV), Odd Eye (ShF2), Chris Lightfellow (S3), Nel (SO3), Harken (WA:ACF)

Chris = Magus = Zio >>> Odd Eye, Chris beats Magus but Zio has too much offense, Magus tanks Zio, Odd Eye just gets swept by anyone I can vote on.

Heavy: Lyndis (FE7), Maya Schrodinger (WA3), Ryuji Sakamoto (P5), Therion (OT), Stocke (RH), MOMO (XS)

Ryuji can capitalize on the fact that Maya's just not scary enough to him at high HP and Charge+God Hand his way to an OHKO e: and Stocke rues the fact that Ryuji has an Auto-Taru equip to blast past his durability.  All his other fights seem bad.  He can take an Aeber's Reckoning even if it's boosted by Armor Corrosive, but not if he uses God Hand and Shackle Foe says no to that OHKOing with Charge, sure he can overwrite that with Tarukaja but that's time he can't afford and at any rate AR will still wreck him too badly to do much else and I'd favor Therion if Skull goes for a straight slugfest anyways.  Meanwhile Lyn has too much evade even if she misses a 2RKO.  Lyn also has too much evade for Therion and Stocke but Calamity Jane probably wrecks her and Therion can AR his way past Maya and Stocke, and Maya probably 3HKOs Stocke first, so...

Lyn = Therion > Maya = Ryuji > Stocke

Middle: Mitsuru Kirijo (P3), Clive Winslett (WA3), Bowser (SMRPG), Albel Nox (SO3), Marianne (FE3H), Zhuzhen (SH1)

Fear wrecks Clive and Marianne too badly but Zhuzhen... yeah think I agree that he scams his way out.  Mitsuru gets heal locked after Terrorize but Terrorize can miss and... that probably doesn't actually matter since I'd probably rate Bowser going first under a Zoom Shoes average anyways.  Clive capitalizes on Marianne's poor offense too well and heal locks Zhuzhen, but Mitsuru goes first and scrapes a 2HKO under the numbers I use (it's quite close though).  Mitsuru... would be able to 2HKO Zhuzhen but since he has Flames of Fudo to knock her down this doesn't actually matter, toddlers with lit matches beat her.  Marianne versus Mitsuru is rather pathetic, but Marianne's damage is terrible (and she can't even use Frozen Lance) and Mitsuru can probably power through anyways.  Meanwhile, we all know by know how badly Zhuzhen struggles agaisnt Marianne.  So!

Bowser > Clive = Mitsuru = Zhuzhen > Marianne

5
Middle:

Jude Maverick (WA4) vs. Stocke (RH) - Stocke of the 1.47 pdur is a wee bit too durable for Jude to blitz considering he isn't failing to 2HKO Jude's shoddy magic durability with G-Fire.

Light:

Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) vs. Hubert von Vestra (FE3H) - Thinking Hubert runs into largely the same problems as Annette as a kneejerk.  Maybe if Death's crit rate were actually any good but even then that'd be a stretch.

6
Godlike:

Losers:

Terra Branford (FF6) vs. Shania (SH:FtNW) - Think this is right.

Heavy

Losers:

Asellus (SaGa) vs. Geno (SMRPG) - Ah, well.

Middle:

Losers:

Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) vs. Stocke (RH) - Repeat.

Light

Winners:

Marianne von Edmund (FE3H) vs. Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - Unless my recollection of SH1 status duration is completely cooked (no charm does nothing in venin edge like situations which this clearly is) I'm not sure how Zhuzhen makes any meaningful amount of damage stick before he runs out of SP, his best damage here is his physical which 4HKOs before Renewal and that shouldn't be good enough.

Losers:

Annette Fantine Dominic (FE3H) vs. Hubert von Vestra (FE3H) - Mire means Hubert wins threat range and the counter game and if Annette comes at him with anything heavier with a training axe she gets doubled by it.  Never mind the fact that Banshee kills Annette's range 1 offense anyways.  Anyways Annette's mdur is pretty much dead average and should be 5HKO'd by Mire+a finisher of some sort at worst and the best she can muster here is... an effective 3HKO and since Mire means she goes second she's not winning a damage race even if Banshee weren't a consideration.

7
Godlike:

Terra Branford (FF6) vs. Melfice (G2) - Melfice shouldn't really be bringing anything relevent to bear here, I'd think.
Velius (FFT) vs. Shania (SH:FtNW) - Well it's not like SH3 can block confusion anyways (unless you treat panic as similar) and giving up the Dream Porter in particular seems like it'd be really bad even if the cast could. e: while I'm not happy with the confusion argument (love it when people recommend letting idiots spend turns swinging at empty air) it's true that it's not a 100% win for Velius and that may be enough.

Heavy:

Asellus (SaGa) vs. Hildegarde Valentine (SH:FtNW) - Don't think so.
Geno (SMRPG) vs. Clarissa Arwin (WA:XF) - Yep.

Middle:

Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) vs. Tifa Lockhart (FF7) - Honestly poison probably decides it.  Good lord.
Stocke (RH) vs. Jessica de Alkirk (L:SSSC) - Repeat, nothing's really changed what I think about the match.  Like you people do realize that Dead Fencer OHKOs Jessica of the below average durablity and non-existant defense buffing no matter what, right?  And you do realize that half average damage physicals aren't exactly taxing Stocke of the 1.47 pdur and his 35 shots of *checks* 28.8% healing, right?  Like what are we even doing here, "user Snowfire?"

Light:

Milich Oppenheimer (Suikos) vs. Annette Fantine Dominic (FE3H) - Repeat, absolutely nothing's changed what I think about the match.
Ricardo Banderas (XG) vs. Hubert von Vestra (FE3H) - The world's slowest man should, by all rights, be eating it to Banshee even if by some miracle he isn't three-rounded by Miasma.

8
Godlike:

Winners:

Shania (SH:FtNW) vs. Mewtwo (PKMN) - Not inclined to vote based off of Gen1 under normal circumstaces so uh.  uhm.

Losers:

Worker 8 (FFT) vs. Terra Branford (FF6)
Nailah (FE10) vs. Velius (FFT) - I think this should be right assessment of his speed?

Heavy:

Losers:

Asellus (SaGa) vs. Summoner (FF5) - I'll bite
Geno (SMRPG) vs. Celica (FE:SoV)

Middle:

Winners:

Jude Maverick (WA4) vs. Jessica de Alkirk (L:SSSC)

Losers:

Karsh (CC) vs. Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) - Another petrification immunity inspection failed.
Stocke (RH) vs. Anastasia Romanov (SH2) - Faster, stuffs Euthanasia, G-Fire hitting the mild weakness should let him scrape a 2HKO.  Even if not, what can Ana really do here?

Light:

Winners:

Marianne (FE3H) vs. Hubert (FE3H) - Kneejerking off of better magic durability and the fact that any damage she can get in will stick.  Range advantage helps Hubert here less than he'd hope and of course Marianne can just dismount to avoid getting nailed by Dark Spikes.
Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) vs. Annette Fantine Dominic (FE3H) - Annette 3HKOs normally and doesn't really have a good way to blast past Nourishing Potion, so Zhuzhen should be able to handle this.

Losers:

Millich Oppenheimer (Suikos) vs. Labyrinthia Wordsworth (WA:XF) - 3HKOs first.
Ricardo Banderas (XG) vs. Squire (FFT) - Ah, well.

9
Godlike:

Worker 8 (FFT) vs. Tir McDohl (S1)
Terra Branford (FF6) vs. Barbariccia (FF4) - Alas.
Nailah (FE10) vs. Edelgard von Hresvelg (FE3H) - Yeah this was never gonna work out for Edie.
Velius (FFT) vs. Citan Uzuki (XG) - Petrify ain't stop.

Heavy:

Ernst (S5) vs. Summoner (FF5)
Tidus (FFX) vs. Geno (SMRPG) - Yeah I wouldn't make either judgement call either.

Middle:

Karsh (CC) vs. Kesaran Pasaran (WA4) - :( indeed.
Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) vs. Amarant Coral (FF9) - Amarant fails his inspection.
Leehalt Alceste (WA3) vs. Stocke (RH) - Um.

Light:

Mustadio Bunanza (FFT) vs. Millich Oppenheimer (Suikos)
Peco (BoF3) vs. Labyrinthia Wordsworth (WA:XF) - lol
Ricardo Banderas (XG) vs. Queen (S3) - uh probably.
Boco (FFT) vs. Squire (FFT) - Yeah Boco does actually perform worse to me than the stat topic indicates, one of us should probably do actual numbers but :effort:, hasn't mattered up until now.

10
Godlike:

Shania (SH:FtNW) vs. Citan Uzuki (XG) - e: or Sanlittobell could matter more than I thought here.
Edelgard von Hresvelg (FE3H) vs. Mewtwo (PKMN) - Gen3 (at least) Mewtwo can buff def too?  yeah that's probably too much given the speed, Edelgard would need to 3HKO with a ranged counter + Raging Storm + Brave Axe and that's clearly not happening.  Nevermind what happens if Mewtwo doubles Edie.
Melfice (G2) vs. Barbariccia (FF4) - I mean Barbie is a case of really just too obnoxious to nom because spin gives both some level of evasion and magic immunity that no one could apparently be bothered to actually document so I am really really sorely tempted to vote Melfice out of sheer disgust but

Heavy:

Hildegarde Valentine (SH:FtNW) vs. Summoner (FF5) - Faster first turn.

Middle:

Jude Maverick (WA4) vs. Anastasia Romanov (SH2) - Jude can block both relevent Euthanasia statuses but that doesn't really do anything about HP-1->poke strats and it's likely that blocking both statuses leaves him too weak to win, will hold off on this. e: elfmath is good enough for me here
Stocke (RH) vs. Jessica de Alkirk (L:SSSC) - I... don't think RH has a silence analogue to block?  Need confirmation on this. e: eh sure if RH paralyze pulls double duty in that regard then I guess that's fine
Tifa Lockhart (FF7) vs. Amarant Coral (FF9) - Kneejerk, also FF7 does have accessible death protection so Countdown's out.

Light:

Marianne (FE3H) vs. Squire (FFT) - Squire doesn't double through Nosferatu which means that plus Renewal is far too potent.
Hubert (FE3H) vs. Queen (S3) - So Banshee would probably work except S3 has movement stats that the topic doesn't list and they definitely matter here.  I'm going to give Hubert the benefit of the doubt but good grief.
Labyrinthia Wordsworth (WA:XF) vs. Zhuzhen Liu (SH1)
Millich Oppenheimer (Suikos) vs. Annette Fantine Dominic (FE3H) - Milich 3HKOs on average even using the lowest damage average (I guess the old stat topic had him with a 3HKO to average but I don't go by that one considering it seemed to take enemy defense as zero) and sports below average speed here, so Wind x2+Wind counterx2+Lightning Axe finisher works.

11
Godlike:

Worker 8 (FFT) vs. Magus (CT)
Zio (PSIV) vs. Terra Branford (FF6)
Odd Eye (ShF2) vs. Nailah (FE10)
Velius (FFT) vs. Chris Lightfellow (S3)

Heavy:

Maya Schrodinger (WA3) vs. Ernst (S5) - Go figure.
Ryuji Sakamoto (P5) vs. Tidus (FFX) - E&C + Lightningproof means Ryuji's best damage here is Bad Beat and that's really not outslugging anything.  Maybe if it actually had real odds of inflicting Despair he'd scam his way out but lol.
Therion (OT) vs. Celica (FE:SoV) - Well I'd at least say Therion doubles even with my utter lack of respect for 8PT speed working for any sort of turn order but he kind of needs to shut off Celica's ability to OHKO him with Ragnarok Omega and he can't really do that with just 1 BP.

Middle:

Mitsuru Kirijo (P3) vs. Karsh (CC) - P3 speed is basically meaningless past first turn so Mitsuru should be getting her second turn before Karsh gets his... except P3 Mind Charge is apparently worse than the later ones and won't let her OHKO average, and Karsh shouldn't really struggle to blast past her durability.
Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) vs. Clive Winslett (WA3) - Petrify.
Leehalt Alceste (WA3) vs. Bowser (SMRPG) - Things keep going wrong for the King of Awesome.

Light:

Marcus (FE6) vs. Mustadio Bunanza (FFT) - Surely Musty can handle this much, right?
Peco (BoF3) vs. Nina (S2) - Nina you're losing to an onion what are you doing
Ricardo Banderas (XG) vs. Cotton (SaGa)
Benedict (TriStrat) vs. Boco (FFT)

12
Trails Through Daybreak: well ok falcom i accept your apology for the cold steel games

Seriously though I enjoyed it a great deal, not quite to the same extent as Zero or Azure, but still pretty high up there.  A few assorted misses with the overall cast and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about field combat being a thing compared to the previous games but overall it felt smoother to play than the Cold Steel games and it's nice that it's not just a repeat of the Rean Show feat. Rean.

13
excuse me i nommed wa4 kesaran pasaran this is very important (not that I can vote on that match since it involves Xenoblade but anyways)

Godlike:

Odd Eye (ShF2) vs. Melfice (G2)
Barbariccia (FF4) vs. Nailah (FE10) - ok who the fuck nommed barbie.  Regardless spin2win is too much here.
Tir McDohl (S1) vs. Chris Lightfellow (S3) - Silent Lake doesn't outspeed Tir.

Heavy:

Ryuji Sakamoto (P5) vs. Hildegarde Valentine (SH:FtNW) - Nope.
Summoner (FF5) vs. Tidus (FFX)- e: oh right I guess Tidus would be able to get four QHs in with non-nerfed QH.
Asellus (SaGa) vs. Celica (FE:SoV)

Middle:

Tifa Lockhart (FF7) vs. Leehalt Alceste (WA3)
Amarant Coral (FF9) vs. Bowser (SMRPG) - sure

Light:

Ricardo Banderas (XG) vs. Labyrinthia Wordsworth (WA:XF)- Rico bad.
Cotton (SaGa) vs. Zhuzhen Liu (SH1)
Benedict (TriStrat) vs. Millich Oppenheimer (Suikos) - Millich isn't pathetic or anything, just a bland e: 3HKO machine.  This is better than what Benedict is doing here.
Boco (FFT) vs. Annette (FE3H) - So unless I'm missing something Annette can just enforce a heal lock with Wind because that + a counter and Dust follow up will end Boco and since Wind has a 14% crit rate Dust will just kill anyways.  Boco *does* 2HKO Annette of the 0.62 physical durability but this doesn't actually matter since the bird can't safely attack ever.

14
Good point about Jessica's silence mace, missed that until I saw Elf's edit and I'm inclined to agree that messes too much up even if I'm a little hesitant to put stock in something so poorly documented.  Also largely inclined to agree that WA3 force commands are silenceable by other generic level skill shutdown statuses, the PS4 comparison or considering Misery a better silence (it is, but not in a way that applies to this) don't really work for me.

15
Quote
Edelgard could do this with a full Aymr, but I'm not inclined to give her that.

The only way she'd need this to me is if brave quads don't happen (or math stops working and a 115 damage attack OKHOs someone who works out to be more durable than a 143 HP average but that's clearly not the case) and I'm legitimately curious as to what kind of AS disadvantage you see -0.67 SD working out to because it doesn't like it'd take that much to get an extra +1.1 intuitively.  Not trying to change your vote since you probably see Zio as durable enough to require two Raging Storms and I'm pretty sure neither of us still allow that, and she does need either multiple uses of Raging Storm or brave axe quads under any reasonable interp, but the phrasing of the argument just strikes me as odd.

16
Godlike:

Shania(SH:FtNW) vs. Worker 8 (FFT)
Magus (CT) vs. Citan Uzuki (XG)
Edelgard von Hresvelg (FE3H) vs. Zio (PSIV) - Ok so Zio sits at ~2.82 PCHP to me (lower under standard scaling and higher under Elf's 3.5 PC scaling, and arguably should be taken a bit lower anyways since this figure is just a standard 3-turn average that doesn't account for Zio giving you free turns for Gryz to put up War Cry and such) and 25 agility to a 29 average.  So, first question is do we have Brave Axe quads?  I don't know, Brave Axe puts Edelgard at +2.4 AS and I don't actually know what the SDs look like for Zio off the top of my head, it seems like it's possible but I would really need to look it up.  HOWEVER, Edelgard still doubles with a silver axe (+5.4 AS) so we use that instead.  So we have 1.18 PCHP damage off of Raging Storm + the opening double, with a silver axe double accounting for 0.67 of that on her own turns.  Zio... 2HKOs on his own turns with ST damage but not in a way that I'd see as melee counterable so he does that... and he has 3HKO MT backup which gets around Edelgard trying to play cute with Wrath so that doesn't really work (and makes the counter argument irrelevent anyways) so in the end Edelgard needs more uses of Raging Storm than I allow in the DL to take this under my boss HP views barring highly unlikley crits going that route.  So it's Brave Axe quads or bust since that's the only way she puts out enough damage fast enough to win and the fight hinges on whether or not Zio is slow enough to give Edelgard the +1.1 AS needed for that and again I'm leaning in that direction but I'm not actually confident.  e2: ok actually did run the numbers and and Zio shakes out to -0.67 SD which yeah probably is enough for that, this puts out 2.96 PCHP total assuming everything hits and honestly I'm leaning towards everything is probably going to hit even without me leaning towards giving out phantom accuracy bonuses for linked attacks to make hit rates look more like they do in game.  But hey I got to do the it's so over/we're so back yo-yo routine in the process so there we are.
Terra Branford (FF6) vs. Mewtwo (PKMN) - Probably.

Heavy:

Maya Schrodinger (WA3) vs. Geno (SMRPG) - I'll bite.

Middle:

Mitsuru Kirijo (P3) vs. Jude Maverick (WA4) - Honestly I buy Rapid Attack giving Jude a 3-2 here.
Anastasia Romanov (SH2) vs. Karsh (CC) - I agree that whoever gets two turns first wins, but Euthanasia is a laggy move and means Karsh gets it first regardless. e: but Euthanasia does something productive turn 1 to people who don't have status resist or magic evade anyways so it doesn't actually matter.
Machias Regnitz (ToCS2) vs. Stocke (RH) - ...so because Stocke needs all three accessory slots to block petrify he can't actually do enough damage normally to overpower Earth Pulse/Iron MQ damage reduction at start so you *know* we have an amazing slapfight here... I actually had a despair filled rant but I removed it because jesus fucking christ I have a problem with gazing into these abyss-like matches.

*ahem* anyways now that I've gotten that out of my system, some actual thoughts: there's no pressure anywhere in this matchup, Machias's S-Craft like 6HKOs Stocke so he needs to land a random status that RH doesn't block (so probably instant death here) and Stocke's doing the gently poke until Dead Fencer happens thing, and the Push Assault strategy actually hurts Stocke more than it helps here since Machias damage is pathetic to begin with and Iron MQ wrecks his ability to finish with it.  Meanwhile Machias starts with regen and can throw it up again 12 times, more if he sets an EP quartz in his orbment.  Considering how *long* it takes for Dead Fencer to happen, even if you, like me, take the gauge at half filled to start, this seems like it would be asking for Machias to just fish for instant death off of his S-Craft.  That said when it does land... it's still nearly 3/4ths of Machias's HP gone and considering how Iron MQ damage works it's very hard for Machias to recover from that.  So the question is, do I think Machias wins in the space of ~25-30 turns?  No, no  I do not.

Jessica de Alkirk (L:SSSC) vs. Clive Winslett (WA3) - e: sure, I guess the silence mace that we all forgot existed because of generally bad documentation works if it's really 50% as advertized, not like losing 6 points of attack is hurting Jess much.  Also generally agreed that there's not much reason to Force Commands as unsilenceable, Misery is a better silence but not in a way that affects skill disabling.

Light:

Marianne (FE3H) vs. Marcus (FE6) - FE6 Marcus doesn't really have what it takes to overwhelm 3H Nosferatu/Renewal.
Squire (FFT) vs. Mustadio (FFT) - lol
Hubert (FE3H) vs. Peco (BoF3) - Hubert probably doubles with Miasma which is likely enough for me to go la la not thinking about this further.
Queen (S3) vs. Nina (S2)

FF2 Pixel Remater - Well it's FF2 but FF2 is a game that's grown on me.  Finding out they patched in being able to turn off the automatic hp gains they added to the GBA version is nice since now there's at least a happy medium between that version and the previous nonsense.  Overall it's a perfectly acceptable (if still very breakable) SaGa experience.

FF3 Pixel Remaster - Well it's 2024 and I finally got around to finishing a version of FF3?  Yay?  Anyways while it's a more civilized iteration than the other two (this says NOTHING) it has the problem of bosses that do basically nothing spam MT 2HKO damage in a game that doesn't believe in having civilized turn order mechanics or means to compensate.  Would've finished at what would have seemed like a perfectly reasonable Lv47 except the game thought it'd be funny to pull that nonsense with Cloud of Darkness too many times and just 2HKO everyone with bad turn order/damage variance and fuck that shit so I settled for a nice round 50 to make that less likely.  Also the game decided that not only would it be funny to inflate the HP count of every endgame boss but they should also resist every element on top (including katanas EXCUSE ME DARK BLADES because fuck that weapon group and fuck you the player specifically for not using the special boy super endgame physical class I guess) which had basically destroyed what goodwill it had built up earlier.  That the job system is a weird halfway point between FF1's promotion stuff and a proper class change system is also, in all honestly, weird and bad and not helped by the fact that around two thirds of the ones that aren't directly obsoleted (ignoring the existence of super special boy ninja for a moment, god, fuck that choice if I haven't been clear on that point) feel like fake classes for idiots designed to be used at exactly one point and never again.

2/10?  At least the arranged soundtrack slaps but reflecting on things I just have no respect for the game whatsoever.

I don't know if I agree with how the stat topic handles the damage/AP issue but I do know that I have no particular desire to argue about it one way or another, especially when I'm doing this while half-asleep.

Anyways I'm taking the harsh approach and using the damage average that fully factors in the cav vs infantry damage bonus.  Yes, accounting for cavalry vs infantry makes Alain more disgusting in a duel than he already is.

My general reasoning for fully factoring in cav bonus into the averages is:
- It's a strictly binary yes/no thing so partially factoring it into cavalry damage figures strikes me as a wholly inappropriate use of damage generalization
- Even if I felt otherwise on the first point, arguing that they would only get the diminished bonus against infantry leads to a view that is so utterly unreflective of ingame performance that I would immediately deem it nonsensical
- It's based on a completely static condition that's common in game, as well as in the DL barring certain transformations and other minor edge cases (Float?), free from any of the nonsense that plagues things like FE doubling arguments
- It allows for spoiling that is both more potent and more reflective of in-game realities

Alain vs. Rubicant - Rubicante might not OHKO but it so doesn't matter.
Alain vs. Sierra - Lord, even if he didn't immune ID he'd just OHKO to me taking the stat topic at face value.
Alain vs. Emily
Alain vs. Celes - Partial ITD on Spinning Edge helps but I don't think it's enough off the top of my head.  Could be mistaken though.
Alain vs. Yuri - Huh, yeah, Yuri barely survives a Spinning Edge even after the cav bonus, and I'd bet he can scam his way out from there.
Alain vs. Nailah - idk, Alain's hell to take down with defense subject physicals, even ones that are occasionally backed by triple laguz royal strength stats, and "occasionally" in this case means sub-25%.  The counters though... (also, would a transformed laguz count as normal infantry anyways) e: oh well if savage's extra damage is actually ITD that doesn't matter anyways lol
Alain vs. Lashiec - So Lashiec 4HKOs Alain.  That's not gonna work out too great in the face of Lean Edge, I'd think.
Alain vs. Alena - Alena so doesn't crit fast enough to pull this out.
Alain vs. Chaz - Alain really likes having that sword huh.
Alain vs. Artea - Spinning Edge is horrible murder to me which saves me from having to consider any potential IP hype.
Alain vs. Eirika - Honestly Eirika's just not that impressive in this matchup

Amalia vs. Rubicant
Amalia vs. Sierra
Amalia vs. Emily
Amalia vs. Celes
Amalia vs. Yuri
Amalia vs. Nailah
Amalia vs. Lashiec - Think he just scrapes an OHKO here, even if he doesn't it so doesn't matter.
Amalia vs. Alena
Amalia vs. Chaz
Amalia vs. Artea - Either I take Amalia's abysmal initative as first turn speed and Artea instadoubles her off the bat under my revised SD assumptions and 2HKOs, or I take Unicorn Overlord speed as average forever and Artea dies to the autocrit.  More inclined to take the former view considering that low initiative is, in fact, not all that great to have ingame.
Amalia vs. Eirika

Dinah vs. Rubicant - I want to say the current boss notes undersell Rubicante's speed rather badly and he's 38 agility and not *23* (at least this is what the FF4 RS calculator that the speed notes document that was posted in the old stat topic links to says) which would put him at RS 2 aka he's probably faster even taking SDs at full impact.  Doesn't really matter to me though.
Dinah vs. Sierra
Dinah vs. Emily - Probably.  She just gets so many swings.
Dinah vs. Celes - Vanish.
Dinah vs. Yuri - Honestly the fact that Yuri2 can go on forever here makes pondering actual hit counts irrelevent here.
Dinah vs. Nailah - Nailah's really accurate, people.
Dinah vs. Lashiec - Hinges on whether or not I agree damaging PS4 techs/99 PS4 dexterity count as truestrikes and honestly that's not consistant with how I take them against fully comprehensive evasion.
Dinah vs. Alena
Dinah vs. Chaz - Explode checks Mental, not evasion, and I'm 99% certain pure status screws over thieves and werefoxes as much as anyone else.
Dinah vs. Artea - Um Artea immunes poison with the armor that gives him MP healing and so Dinah is pretty much incapable of killing him ever.  Also see above note on only seeing initiative mattering on the first turn, the evade game will get overwhelmed eventually even if it takes a century.  Like the best you can argue for Dinah here is that she'd would win on a does more damage tiebreak but that requires taking views that I don't.
Dinah vs. Eirika -

Alain's pretty clearly Godlike, other two rather not so much.

Godlike

Yuna (Final Fantasy X) vs Belial (Wild ARMs 4) - You know I was gonna be all like lol hyping temporary eject as match winning but the fact that 4D pocket does reset the turn gauge honestly is a legitimate secondary effect to go through (see also: Weissman's EP busting) so I guess Belial gets to go back to being complete DL cancer.  You win, assholes, happy now?

Heavy

Mei-ling (SaGa Frontier) vs Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves Christmas) - Yeah not really buying the supervillain evade powers saving her from getting wrecked by dark damage.

Middle

Minoriko Aki (Labyrinth of Touhou: Gensokyo and the Heaven-Piercing Tree) vs Dedue Molinaro (Fire Emblem Three Houses) - um Minoriko needs to buff to not get ORKO'd and it saves her from being heal locked basically never, so she needs to juggle that, refreshing the defense buff, and trying to find the room to 2RKO with Autumn Sky (no, Dedue is not switching to a thrown weapon to counter that, 3H thrown counters are trash).  Considering that 1) Dedue has a 17% crit rate and 2) Minoriko only enjoys a 11-10 turnsplit this uh does not actually work out for her.

Light

Ivy (Fire Emblem Engage) vs Mediator (Final Fantasy Tactics) - Agreeing that Mediator is secretly too strong for Light.

Obviously rank both P5 (not sold on the Joker for Bluelike arguments but he's a massive research headache anyways so I'd be happy to silo him off) and Triangle Strategy.  P1 would need a revised stat topic badly and apparently no one can be bothered to fill that need so I won't say rank it but at the same time there's not anything particularly *unrankable* about it other than game not good (maybe I'll buy into that reasoning when we boot FF8.)

Godlike

Goddess (Final Fantasy VI) vs Belial (Wild ARMs 4) - Endgame FF6 bosses surviving double Tank Drop is really not something I see happening ever.

Heavy

Mei-ling (SaGa Frontier) vs Kyra Tierney (Phantasy Star IV) - Think so.
Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves Christmas) vs Anna Pascal (Triangle Strategy)

Middle

Minoriko Aki (Labyrinth of Touhou 2) vs Divine Punisher Shaman (Etrian Odyssey V) - You don't really beat Minoriko with mdef-subject magic attacks unless you're really good at it.  Shaman... is not really good at it.

Light

Mediator (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Zelkov (Fire Emblem Engage) - Zelkov 4HKOs even after factoring in the added damage from poison and probably doesn't double (he's +4.6 AS against the average that factors smash weapons, Mediator is above average and, as far as my own views are concerned, is probably one of the generics that would want to default to sprint shoes instead of a bracer or magic bracer), so he runs into the same problems as Heather does here.

Godlike

Riou (Suikoden II) vs Yuna (Final Fantasy X) - +0.72 SD isn't faster than 119% first turn speed under any interp that I know of.  Maybe the old stat topic had Riou as faster?
Belial (Wild ARMs 4) vs Ryu (Breath of Fire IV) - Doubles off the bat, 2HKOs with Tank Drop.

Heavy

Mei-ling (SaGa Frontier) vs Mystic Knight (Final Fantasy V)
Temenos Mistral(Octopath Traveler II) vs Kyra Tierney (Phantasy Star IV) - If PS4 sleep turns out to be relevent here I'll laugh.
Byakuren Hijiri (Labyrinth of Touhou) vs Anna Pascal (Triangle Strategy)

Middle

Rinkah (Fire Emblem Fates) vs Divine Punisher Shaman (Etrian Odyssey V) - Rinkah mostly spoils physical fighters, which Shaman isn't.
Dedue Molinaro (Fire Emblem Three Houses) vs Kyrie (Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark) - e: wait shit Dedue isn't doubled if he uses gauntlets, that is such an alien concept but whatever, it means that plan doesn't work.  I'm... not sure Kyrie has much of an answer outside of attack breaking then?  It'll mess Dedue up bad but I don't see how Kyrie beats out a gauntlet crit without considering beams miss a 4HKO.  e2: oh right One-Two Punch is basically almost as good as a Brave Axe+ too.  Yeah really leaning towards Kyrie not having this after all.

Light

Primrose Azelhart (Octopath Traveler) vs Ivy (Fire Emblem Engage) - Primrose damage is kind of wretched and I absolutely would see Engage mounted mages beating out an 8PT PC on initiative.  I'm no great fan of Allure hype either.
Mediator (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Heather (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn) - Sure, goes first and Threatens.  The numerically better range isn't terribly relevent to me but it's not the sort of thing I'd see provoking FE counters anyways.  Heather's 16.75% chance of Bane procs isn't enough.
Vitali (Soul Nomad & The World Eaters) vs Zelkov (Fire Emblem Engage) - Given Vitali's bad defensive matchup here this is probably right.

While I agree that arguing based on WA4's arena size is generally a non-starter, I was under the distinct impression that Yulie couldn't act after moving anyways, which would render this somewhat moot unless you wanted to fall back on kiting arguments based on Tiki's bad threat range and I don't really know how I feel about those, especially considering she loses her buffs by doing so.

This Way Madness Lies: Why yes I just befriended Not!Cthulhu (he punched himself to death soon afterwards)

Fairly nice cast balance overall?  Even the characters I was most eh aren't really dire or anything.  Availablilty for characters not named Imogen/Miranda/Beatrice on the other hand...

Imogen: Well, she's forced but you'd probably want to field her anyways since both the stats and the skillset are pretty good, nice selection of damage (including light, which no one else really gets), some healing skills (one of which can be made full MT while in hyper), stun (with ailment hp bypassing vulnerability inflictions), charm (with damage boost if inflicted while hyper) and offense buffing's there too if you want it.  I guess her early traits aren't all that exciting?  7/10.

Paulina: Well she heals a lot and can be durable... eventually.  The former's nice early when you don't really have better options, but overall she doesn't really have damage and her ability to inflict ailments is entirely reliant on items and also basically nonexistant.  Probably looks a bit better towards the end since you can probably do things with Long Winter but that's final dungeon level late.  4/10.

Viola: Viola hits things.  Repeatedly.  She doesn't do much but hit things (and be somewhat durable) and isn't *especially* exciting about it outside her ability to get extra turns (thereby cheating her hyper gauge) while doing so but hey.  She is pretty frontloaded, so that's nice, at least.  5.5/10.

Rosalind: Unlike the previous two, Rosalind's more of a generalist who's good at stats that aren't HP or speed.  The skillset, on the other hand... it's pretty iffy early, especially when not hyper but then you get a bunch of good stuff MT healing, strong vulnerable infliction, a charge effect (hi vulnerable)... stuff like that.  Also gets a trait which lets her do +50% more damage to vulnerable enemies which can get into 5-digit damage territory levels of hilarious.  Viola's better early, but not by enough to make up for how much better I found Rosalind late.  6/10.

Miranda: Um.  Miranda is *weird*.  Her power's pretty junky, she's kind of frail, her skillset is sort of all over the place and unlike every other character, going hyper shifts her functionality from offensive status slinger to defensive... something, I'm not sure what.  Also she's forced a lot, and while I can safely say I eventually felt comfortable with the offensive part of the skillset (some of which is actually quite nice) I can't say I was galaxy brain enough to comfortable enough with her entire gimmick.  LVP?  I'm not entirely certain, she does at least have a good enough ailment stat to the point where you're okay with an odd dead turn where you Cat Ears/Shield Breaker something if you have to but janky support character is pretty down there on the Zeboyd games comptence hierarchy.  4/10.

Beatrice: Hey everyone it's time for BIG POIZN.  BIG POIZN is actually pretty good apart from the fact that it can't be lethal turns out (especially since it doesn't get rid of vulnerable).  Not to be content with that she also has all the ailments, all of them, in multitarget form so that's also nice (too bad the upgrade to Woo seems to be bugged to not use the listed values), as well as a charge skill for ailments (that can even be targetted on others while hyper, which is crazy).  Direct damage is pretty lacking overall (it's all dark unless you set an early trait to make it pierce, and there's not that much of it) and the durability is kinda bad again but oh well, probably clears MVP anyways because charm and BIG POIZN.  7.5/10.

Kate: TANK.  Kind of proactive about it but not in an especially reliable way?  Having another source of targettable unstoppable is nice, of course, and the skillset otherwise... could be worse for what she's supposed to be doing.  Honestly the main reason I used her because of her unite with Imogen which lets each party member null an attack.  Probably enough for a 5/10.

Godlike

Goddess (Final Fantasy VI) vs Eiriko 'Elly' Kirishima (Persona) - Pass.
Belial (Wild ARMs 4) vs Polaris (Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2) - alright who nommed the boss that doesn't have stat topic data.  Anyways I suspect Snowfire's kneejerk works for me.
Ryu (Breath of Fire IV) vs Simeon (Octopath Traveler) - I'll bite.

Heavy

Shadow (Final Fantasy VI) vs Cthulhu (Cthulhu Saves Christmas) - Probably.
Odie (Soul Nomad & The World Eaters) vs Byakuren Hijiri (Labyrinth of Touhou) - Probably
Rofel Wodring (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Anna Pascal (Triangle Strategy) - Sure I guess.

Middle

Dedue Molinaro (Fire Emblem Three Houses) vs Baba Yaga (Cthulhu Saves Christmas) - It's not... impossible for Baba to pull this off but she'd need to get very lucky with Dedue's questionable accuracy since her only real avenue is to chickenize Wind Arrow.
Yulie Ahtreide (Wild ARMs 4) vs Tiki (Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem) - Yulie doesn't really like the fact that New Mystery is one of those rare FEs where every enemy and their grandmothers have a big fat 0 where their luck stat should be.

Light

Mediator (Final Fantasy Tactics) vs Ribombee (Pokémon Sun/Moon) - Pass.
Heather (Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn) vs Benedict Pascal (Triangle Strategy) - lol
Vitali (Soul Nomad & The World Eaters) vs Frederica Aesfrost (Triangle Strategy) - ok yeah that is one of the worst possible draws for Frederica right there.
Big Joe (Xenogears) vs Zelkov (Fire Emblem Engage) - Big Joe wins due to there being no Engage character named Velkov Not *quite*, Big Joe.
