Ok I wasn't really trying to get myself lynched on the first day, but I guess I didn't really mind when it happened?

Too bad the clue I gave was more or less ignored by everyone, wtf.

"You... you fools.... you don't even know you are already being deceived by the Ghaleoni..."

Remo coughed weakly, as blood seeped out from the terrible wounds on his back.

"You have doubted me... when I was living... but doubt me... in my death... at your own risk!"

"Be... beware... beware of Carthrat!!"

(sorry guys, you're on your own now)

Mafia is not the game for you if this is how you want to play. Slow and reserved and passive and quiet = SCUM, not thoughtful player. Unfortunate but true. Either learn to live with it or find a game that's more your style.

Yeah upon going through what has happened do I fully realize the hole which I have dug myself in. Its no wonder why people think I am suspicious. I could have done a lot better had I paid more attention to what was going on, this game is moving a bit too fast for me.

I'm going to sleep soon, so these are probably my final comments for the day. The momentum seems to be swinging towards Delta currently, due to the nature of his comments and his absence during the later part of the day. I too feel that he has not really backed up what he has said so far.

And oh wow, Smodge actually gave me credit for posting and my weak defence, which is sort of consistent with his request for me to do so. Err thanks I guess? But your defense of me doesn't seem popular with the rest, as is your semi random vote for a lurker when lynch targets are present. But how come Xanth gets away with voting a lurker in this case? Then again he does a lot to try highlight suspicious behavior all round, like LD

EvilTom can be said to be guilty of focusing too much on Smodge. So what is worse, me focusing mainly on the people who are going after me, or a person who only concentrates on one person?

Bardiche still doesn't like me very much, he doesn't like my slackness and he doesn't like my weak defense. Its sort of valid I guess, perhaps he could elaborate more like LD requested.

Carthrat is clearly not impressed by how I play, fair enough, I don't really have a firm opinion on him.

I am torn over this, as this looks more like a desperate effort to save myself rather than an educated vote. He could also appear at the last moment to justify himself and I would be unable to change my vote (since I would be asleep).

But the combination of his unusual comments in the beginning and his subsequent disappearance is the most suspicious and disconcerting to me. I still don't like Bardiche for going after me, but at least I think he does have reasons for doing so.

##Unvote: Bardiche

Concentrating on myself doesn't mean I totally ignore what is going on with the others, I do look at what is going on at large but I am not going to pore over every single word. I'd rather play this at a pace and tempo which I enjoy rather than burn myself out trying to overthink everything. Cookie points for being honest? I guess not. Points for at least playing the game and replying regularly? I shouldn't keep my hopes up I guess.

I am in an even worse time zone (gmt +8) meaning I will probably miss the final few hours to the lynch. Well in that case I should just put in a bit more effort and see if there is anything I can do before I go sleep, so that my (imminent) death will not be entirely in vain.

First off I would like to say that I am kinda lazy and am usually only willing to analyze those with statements against me. It is much easier for me since I know my own alignment instead of playing guessing games with the accusations against other people.

I wanted to vote previously but didn't as I didn't want to be accused of a kneejerk OMGUS vote. I also wanted to see a couple more responses first before making a choice. Seems like it backfired again with Carthrat and Xanth calling me out for not voting.

Carthrat and Xanth have also raised reasonable suspicions against me regarding the statements I made. It might not be very convincing now, but my speculation so far on the rules so far have really been just speculation, not because I have privy to any special knowledge or anything.

Therefore I think these two are unlikely to be scum... DeltaFlyer hasn't really said much about me except agree with the rest, so not really convincing either way, somewhat suspicious. Lady Door hasn't said anything since then, but what has been said seems reasonable to me.

Which brings me to my point: Bardiche. He has basically jumped on a train for me initially for no good reason, and made one accusation regarding the statements I'd made. After that, nothing. Among those who voted for me, he is the most scummy one.

##VOTE: BARDICHE

Maybe he could say a bit more than just focusing on me alone?

Mods you did not count my UNVOTE on Sir Alex

Hmm I am not sure how to get out of the hole I have dug for myself, but what I can do is to take note of the people who trying to bury me.

Bardiche jumped on a train for me with little justifications (first on the list? wut?) initially, and then when I tried to highlight early train starters and supposed scum handicaps he turned around and highlighted my statements as being suspicious. Fair enough, I guess, though I believe and stand by my statement. Xanth also thinks my statement is suspicious, but also goes after Barchiche for not being convincing with his reasons to vote me.

Delta also feels that I am suspicious, Carthrat highlights both me and Bardiche for claims about scum handicaps but voted for me in the end. Lady Door comes in with words of understanding initially but ultimately decides against me with a FOS with claims of misdirection and fear mongering.

I guess I do sound suspicious, but I am just trying to explore the possibilities here. "However, the scum will have various penalties assigned that make their increased numbers not so much of an asset."  This may also be interpreted as the scum having penalties which go beyond night actions, for example limits on how they can vote during the day.

The previous (and only game which I had played previously) was Britannian Mafia, which had all sorts of crazy conditional roles. eg conditional sheep who hate to vote with someone if they did a particular action, or conditional self silencer who died if he took part in the lynch of a female role.

I realize I am not really offering any solutions here, more like trying to justify my caution with the unusual rules which may be in place in this game. I am sticking out my neck here; beware of those who are too eager to take it.

Ok the opening line of the sign up thread is this

Quote
Incompetent Mafia is a non-standard setup with non-standard roles.  There will be a significantly larger ratio of scum:town than a normal game.  However, the scum will have various penalties assigned that make their increased numbers not so much of an asset.

And thats why I felt that we should be even more careful of lynches than in a normal game. We normally have a buffer of town people to go through as we seek to discover the scum, but in this game we don't really have that luxury. Perhaps I am being overly paranoid, but its a point of view which should be considered.

Must I suffer for being overly cautious?

My initial vote for Sir Alex was a jokevote, I don't really have anything serious against him. I shall follow my own advice and remove my vote on him, and examine the proceedings more closely and not vote before I have satisfied myself that it is a good decision.

Yippee I have the honor of being the first target of a(n attempted) train.

Might want to be especially careful of train starters in this game though, with the higher numbers of scummy scum scums, since their ability to kill is handicapped their most effective weapon will be the lynch...

Yeah such a pity that there wasn't more involvement from the players. I guess I am guilty of that as well, then again there were a bunch of new players.

Is your internetz back? I would love to try out another one done by you guys after getting a better feel of this game.

Ok after seeing Xanth's explanation of the possible and presumably likely remaining scum roles, it seems unlikely that the scum will purposely sacrifice one of their own to provide a cover for the survivor. If this is the case then EvilTom is less likely to be the scum since he is not really getting any help. But then again player you can't really discount player apathy in this game, which will throw off any serious calculations.

Xanth's detailed examination of why he suspects Kaze is illuminating, and at the moment both EvilTom and Nilie (and possibly Schwtf) has been swayed. At this rate Kaze will be modkilled if no one else takes any action, yet we still don't really see anyone coming out to help him.

If Kaze turns out to be scum, then most likely EvilTom and Nilie are not scum. The most likely remaining scum would be... Silver I guess. For being the last one out of the four (besides me haha) which never voted for Disland.

If he is NOT scum, then the obvious suspects will turn out the be EvilTom OR Nilie.

The most hilarious scenario would be if the scum are really pro and all our guesses and assumptions have been wrong. Then god save us all.

For me its become a tossup between EvilTom and Kaze (yes I got influenced too). At this rate he is going to be killed anyway so I don't think there is any point in bringing him to -1, but if I keep EvilTom at 3 votes things can still remain open for the remaining few hours.

Interesting exchange between Nillie and EvilTom. I still get a somewhat uncomfortable vibe from EvilTom's posts. I do not claim to be very accurate in my deductions, but there is a certain pattern which I observed. Let us consider the situation now.

There are 8 people left, with 5 needed to lynch. By now, the scum should have a better idea of who the town power roles are due to their past failures, or at least will have better targets in mind, giving them a good chance of getting a kill when the next night comes. The deaths of two town will place the balance at 4 town vs 2 scum, which would be pretty advantageous to them, giving them good reason to start cooperating now.

There was originally a EvilTom vs Silvers thing going, which became a EvilTom vs Nilie thing. Right now, EvilTom has the most votes (Me, Silvers, Nilie), and at this rate is going to be killed by default if no one changes their minds or just neglect to post.  If we consider the possibility that EvilTom is not scum, then the most likely scenario would be the Silvers and Nilie are actually the scum, and are finally working together to get EvilTom killed.

While there is apparently no one helping EvilTom at the moment, its also possible that he is scum and his accomplice is merely using him as a decoy to pretend to be a town, in order to win by surviving and nightkills all the way.

Either way, this means that there is the possibility that either one or both Silvers and Nilie are scum as well, irregardless of who EvilTom turns out to be.

Kaze is a bit suspicious as well, but his voting record is mixed. Voted for Disland early on, but withdrew it pretty quickly. Voted for Nilie but withdrew it after AndreRogue withdrew. Could be either.

I am not really getting a scum vibe from the rest.

My vote remains on EvilTom; on balance he still seems the most scummy....

Hope I made it in time.

Ok I didn't really read everything in detail and analyze every last detail, but it seems that the two most likely scum pairs are either Silver/Nillie or EvilTom/Kaze. This is from Schwtf's and Xanth's observations and analysis. Schwtf pointed out the 4 people who never voted Disland (me/Silver/Nillie/EvilTom) and EvilTom is now voting against Silver/Nillie. Kaze actually voted for Disland once but he unvoted him soon after, so its not totally conclusive.

Anyway it seems that we need to lynch someone from these two pairs to help establish the truth.

I have had doubts on EvilTom for a while, and while I cannot be totally sure on the whole he feels the most suspicious to me. Therefore I will be going with my own feelings and

Ok I have been pretty busy recently, so I wasn't able to follow this thread for a while.

But seriously this game is turning out to be much more effort than I expected.

I will try to follow what is going on and make reasonable votes or comments regularly, but goddamn I am not going to quote every damn thing or provide detailed justifications for everything I do, its just too time consuming. I am just going to go with general impressions based on what the other players have said or argued for so far.

Disland hasn't posted, and stands a good chance of being modkilled, so I will ignore for now.

Xanth continues to examine everyone closely, still seems to be generally fair in his observations

Tom and Silvers are targeting each other. I found silver's actions to be inconsistent at times but recently Tom has been even more inconsistent or questionable.

Roflknife still has a somewhat suspicious air around him, but its more of a vague feeling atm.

The rest, I don't really have any opinions about.

##VOTE:EvilTom for generally scummy behavior.

Yes thats all the justifications you are going to get from me. Live with it.

I guess my explanation of why I had changed my vote from Silver to Delta was too brief. I kinda got lazy after having to digest Xanth's wall of text, where he had clearly stated Delta's numerous questionable actions. I will point the ones which seemed particularly significant and obvious to me.

Maybe it is really just a case of "Delta being Delta", but he never seems to be able to respond to accusations thrown at him with a valid reply other than "why are you guys picking on me" or "I'm town, you guys are crazy".

Delta also kept changing his vote between lurkers (disland),  supposed scummy looking players (schnwtfhisname) and players whom he thinks made personal attacks on him (andrewrogue, xanth) when they haven't. He himself has admitted to accusing people based on personal feelings (andrewrogue).

Overall, your actions have been inconsistent, questionable and evasive. I had some suspicions regarding you since the early exchanges between you, El Cid and Andrew, but I neglected to declare it properly at first. I will not make this mistake next time. My suspicions regarding silver were initially stronger, but your actions and reactions have been really damning lately. Thus I have decided to commit myself to a vote against you and bear whatever repercussions it may have.

Seems like there is some sort of consensus that zooyork is due to be modkilled for inactivity, and as such there is no point wasting a lynch on him.

Besides the near lynching of zooyork, there seems to be a couple of other lines of suspicions. One is El Cideon --> EvilTom <--> Silver. EvilTom questions Silver for NOT defending himself and for bringing zooyork to -1 when he would have most likely been modkilled anyway, while Silver and the subsequently El Cid questions him back for his somewhat questionable accusations against Silver.

The other line of suspicion is AndrewRogue and Xanth against DeltaFlyer. I frankly had some misgivings against Deltaflyer but did not bring it up initially since I though I may be biased by him voting against me at first and decided to give it more thought. After Xanth's epic post, I was finally convinced of DeltaFlyer's suspiciousness. (avoiding questions, fishy voting patterns, questionable accusations about others)

Silver has gone beyond just accusing Xanth and shared some of his thoughts regarding the rest of the players, so he has become somewhat less suspicious in my eyes... although not completely off my radar.

Aside from the more lurky members, my FOS list now looks like : DeltaFlyer, EvilTom, Silver and Roflknife at a distant 4th. Therefore

##UNVOTE: Silver

##VOTE: DeltaFlyer

Well as Nilie has written a reply justifying his position, there is no reason for me to point fingers at him any more.

##UNVOTE: Nilie

Nilie, like I said earlier, my attention was drawn to Xanth at first due to his long and elaborate posts, but after having some time to digest his walls of text I find that theres no reason to single him out, for now anyway. Anyway with his train of thought so clearly laid out, it makes it easy to keep tabs on him.

I don't really have any suspicions on the rest of the players in particular except for Silver and Roflknife.

Silver seems to have the tendency to vote on bandwagons. After voting for Kaze as a joke vote, he then tried to follow EvilTom's vote on Schnwtfhisname's silly name. After being called out by EvilTom for accusing Xanth of obfuscation without voting for him, the Schwtf train lost steam due to EvilTom pulling out, and Silver had to back up his accusation with a vote for Xanth.

The Xanth/Silver rivalry began, and while Xanth admitted that he did not have anything solid on Silver and even tried to question the others who voted for Silver while at the same time questioned many of the other players, Silver only tried to attack Xanth back without any real defense of his own position. When the Xanth bandwagon died out by the second day, he too seems to have given up on Xanth, and tried to keep a low profile by withholding his vote, perhaps to await the next bandwagon which comes.

Finally he does not seem to be able to understand the rules. He has violated them quite a number of times now, including his most recent unvote despite not having voted yet on the second day.

Roflknife is less suspicious, but his actions have been pretty dodgy. His justifications for voting someone are not really convincing, and he is trying to avoid having to analyze other people's positions and to make himself look harmless. Perhaps he can reconsider his voting position and justifications so we can have reasons NOT to vote him.

Well looks like my attempts at Rping have been deemed as lame, so I will stop with that style for now. In fact it looks like any superfluous RP is considered excessive...

I have a better idea of what I am supposed to do now, after reading El Cideon's posts about how one should play the game. I don't really have the time to post several times a day, I am also in a different timezone, but I'll still try my best.

I was initially uncomfortable with Xanth since I saw him as stirring up everyone's suspicions against each other, thereby causing confusion and giving himself space to accomplish his goals (whatever they may be). But after some thought I have decided that his posts actually are helping to clarify the situation with his analysis of the situation and whom we should be paying more attention to.

Thus I will put in some effort with some observations of my own.

Part of this game is accusing others in order to see their responses. In this regard I think Xanth has been successful, as Silver has hit back fairly strongly. He seems intent on focusing all attention back on Xanth without regard for any other players, a narrow minded and somewhat suspicious response.

Zooyork, Disland and Roflknife are also new newbies like me, not entirely sure how to play and intimidated by the experienced players. I can understand their kneejerk reaction against Xanth, but I do hope they can broaden their point of view and take a deeper look at the other players as well.

AndrewRogue is still pursuing Delta for ignoring him, which is sort of justified I guess. Perhaps Delta could give a proper response so Andrew can move on?

Schnwtf and Tom's responses seem reasonable, I see no reason to suspect them of anything.

Kaze has been pretty quiet recently, I also hope he can give a response soon.

I shall reserve my vote for later today. (anyone can give a rough idea how many hours are left? thanks)

Is there no place where I can get a decent nap?

I just want to mind my own business and while away my time, but the students keep pestering me.

I try to tell them to leave me alone, but to no avail. Alas! Why do they keep bothering me?

Whats this? My voting slip? Haven't I already voted?

I guess it wouldn't do if I just voted on a whim.

I did vote silver on a whim, didn't I.

But actually, if I remember correctly, the owner of the smelly mask was as FABULOUS as can be.

Then someone as anti-FABULOUS as silver can't possibly be him.

##UNVOTE: silver

But who is the real enemy then?

El Cid and Andrew are against Delta...

Xanth and silver are against each other...

Delta is against schnwtfhisname...

Its all too difficult for my simple mind.

However...

Why is Xanth taking so much trouble to raise everyone's suspicions?

I have heard that the legendary Zero was a master at manipulation and misinformation.

If I think that way.... yes... Xanth is indeed suspicious.

My instincts tell me so. So be it.
