Gate, how can you not believe in true love?

This surprises anyone?  *grin*

I discovered a certain someone actually likes FFX-2 music. I am very much traumatized.

YES!  It was a MOST awesome surprise present when he got home.  *happy dances*

Days
Thursday the 17th: This is Jenna's birthday, and she'll be down in San Jose for the whole day. So...really, nothing doing then. I'll be around if anyone with thier own transportation wants to come over, but I will have none of my own.
Friday the 18th: Snowfire may be able to come over late if we have anything planned. We currently do not, so day is a big ???
Saturday the 19th: Andy and Ashley will need to head out for the NANO write in thing. Otherwise ???
Sunday the 20th: Snowfire leaves that night. There will be Gate cookery for dinner. Otherwise ???
Monday the 21st: If folks are still around, hanging out is good. Jenna may have things of her own planned for Monday(not meet related, but family stuff) so she may or may not be available. Dunno just yet. Otherwise ???

Just a mini correction.  I'm gone all day on the 17th, but also a chunk of Friday.  2 movies to watch with the familia.  If anyone is needing picked up at a BART on Friday or shuttled to our new place, though, just let me know times and I'll try to work movie times around being here to shuttle.  ^_^  I'm off next week and the week after, so flex time is go.

And, Monday should be good.  If no one needs a lift, I'll head down to the family, but I can also stay home and shuttle if there's a need.  Not my fave way to spend the day (family I'm not close to coming in from out of state), but if no one needs a lift I will feel obligated to go down and be social-like.  ;)

OK, local hotel prices for that timeframe were fun to track down.  So many sites listing different prices, bleh.  Anyway, all of the ones named below are within 5 miles of us and, as of my searching, had rooms available.  They're listed in order of price (with links to thier sites so you can check them out).

El Camino Inn - ~66/room/night

America's Best Value Inn - ~$95/night/room

General Chat / Re: The RPGDL Audiosurf Challenge
« on: October 06, 2011, 03:37:22 AM »
Sooooooo...

Gate keeps suggesting that I upload my practice set and see how it goes over.  I usually run this whole set on Mono Pro at least once a week just to keep limber at the game.  It's mostly fast-paced or crowded tracks, but a few are tossed in simply because I like the music.  The rar is about 83megs.

1-Where's Your Head At?-Basement Jaxx from the Tomb Raider soundtrack
2-Always Know Where You Are-BBMak from the Treasure Planet soundtrack
3-Supadupafly-666 from the Techno Party CD
4-Land of a Million Drums-Killer Mike from the Scooby Doo soundtrack (not a hard track, I just like the song)
5-Halloween (Main Title)-Roy Shakked from the Very Scary Movie Music Classic CD (Gate once set me a task of going through the song w/o hitting ANY of the blocks ... still haven't managed that)
6-EVerybody Needs a 303-Fatboy Slim from the Lost in Space soundtrack
7-Maria (I Like It Loud)-Acardipane from a different Techno Party CD
8-Marisa Stol the Precious Thing-One of the two Touhou songs on here because Gate thought I needed more of a challenge, and darned if they're not just fun to run
9-Cegele el Gusto (Catch the Flavor)-Chico Alvarez (It's all in Spanish so I have no idea what they're saying, but I like the rhythm)
10-Amazing-Seal (freaking long song, when I run the whole 14-song set together, by the time this one comes around my wrist usually hates me with a passion)
11-I Talk to The Wind-Opus III
12-Speedballin'-OutKast from the Tomb Raider Soundtrack
13-Cinderella Cage-The other Touhou song on this.  I put it right before the end to keep the fun going.
14-Cyborg Mermaid-Song from the anime Battle Angel Alita, my fave anime.  I just put it in because I like the music.

Actually, I think 'no' works on that quite nicely there, CT.  You are denied.  You may not pass Go, you may not collect 2 free yaoi DVDs.

...Alex run insanomafia? Yeah, I'll bite. I'll see if I can talk Jenna into it as well. Casual side if you do that split, of course.

I think things have cooled down here enough at work that I'd be able to tackle it.  I'm definately happier in a casual group, but I can swim with the sharks if the other side needs another soul.  The mechanics sound interesting.

Our experience with the houses in Cali are that they do indeed usually want half up front as a deposit to reseve the timeslot you want the house for.

Actually, they always wanted the full amount up front.  Just saying.  I always paid out of my March bonus check from work that was enough to cover it and just got it back (mostly) after the con.

Writeup Graveyard / Re: Roy (vs. Yam Koo)

Fire Emblem? Weapon ranks? What nonsense is this? Prince Freyjadour, mighty Prince of Falena, needs none of this nonsense! And for that matter, neither does Roy, the princely imposter ready to continue thrashing the Dueling League! Light? An insult! Royal Paradise and his trusty nunchaku will easily demolish any unsightly roadblocks in the way. And it's not like this Yam Koo trash can stand against someone with such a royal bearing as Roy. Yessir, a quick one-two-three and Yam Koo will fall, leaving the road open for Roy!

Writeup Graveyard / Re: Yam Koo (vs Roy)
« on: August 21, 2010, 03:24:10 AM »
So what do a fisherman and a body double for the leader of an army have in common? Absolutely nothing, sans a 15 year gap in history. In all actuality, it should prove to be quite the close and even match. Yam Koo packs on above average HP, but below average Def. Roy has the opposite. Yam Koo's damage is far closer to average, as is his speed, beating out Roy in both of those aspects. This is the edge he'll need. He'll just have to hope that his defense don't drag him down like a whale can drags down small fishing boats...

Writeup Graveyard / Re: Nara (vs Lucia)

Nara knows victory is in the cards this season. She's finally proven herself to be competent with a win over Norn, and now seeks to improve her much abused reputation at the foolish Lucia's expense. She'll batter Lucia with her powerful wind magics, and heal any damage done to herself with her cheap and effective Fullheal spell. Nothing the incompetent Lucia has will threaten Nara, nor even slow down the upcoming, rather brutal beating she's about to receive from Mara's sister.

The goddess of the Blue Sphere returns to work her magics against those who would support Zophar! And as previous Lunar heroes learned, fortunetellers are always evil, so Lucia's got a foe to smite this week! She'll make Nara feel the Atomic Burn, keep herself healthy with Heal Litany, or just Solar Bomb the fool girl into oblivion before she can so much as blink. Victory will be in the palm of her hand, as she saves the Dueling League from another catastrophic destruction!

It's a true, blue classic match of dinosaur vs man this week as Venusaur takes on the cavegirl descended of cavegirls, Leah. As fitting her job description, Leah is quite strong physically, but so tragically vulnerable to Venusaur's Sleep Powder. Everyone knows it's a fairly big health hazard to fall asleep during a match, so Leah will have a nasty hurdle to overcome. Venusaur has the damage to quickly put Leah down for the count once asleep; so unless she has some ancient cavegirl secret, it'll be a defnitve win for the terrible thunder lizards!

Ah, Leah. The cutest little theoretical descendant of Ayla to enter the Dueling League; and probably the only one who's kept her ancestor's venerable techniques. Against a beast like Venusaur? This should be more than enough! Rock Throw and Tail Spin to lay the hurt on, and then Triple Kick to blast the monster to the Stone Age - and just in time for Ayla and Kino to feast on grilled dino for dinner! And with Leah's stellar durability and damage, it's not as if Venusaur can threaten the little girl. Yes indeed, it's time for Leah to shine!

My, my, my! Would you look at this! A demure woman being confronted with an armored, silent brute of a man! In combat, no less! This deplorable state of affairs can only end one way: Extreme Anima magic blasting away all that oppose L'arachel! Her formidable talents will be put to blasting Humphrey on the spot, no matter how unreasonably tough he is! With her power, it doesn't matter how strong Humphrey is! He'll be blasted away like so many knights and generals, sent to the scrap heap of the season as L'arachel advances onward through Middle!

Being manly is, frankly, what Humphrey does best. He specialies in grabbing his sword and slicing things to death. There is no refinement in his attacks, just near silence on the battlefield and great physical strength. This silly slip of a girl doesn't have the defenses need to stop his mighty Muramasa, leaving her naked and open to his attacks. Humphrey helped bring down the horrible Scarlett Moon Empire and the Highlands; nothing this girl can bring to bear is nearly as threatening as the armies that those two countries possessed.

Looking at the websites, if you're going on Saturday you shouldn't run into a League if you go late enough, like 1 or later since the Leagues att start at 9:30.  And it looks like the League people start showing up on Sunday at 5:30p so earlier would be best then.

The house has a few beds (6-8 I think).  Don't worry about a sleeping bag in case others take the beds, though, we have 3 sleeping bags  we're brining over for people to use.

Chie's is a bit confused that someone that looks like Adel is actually a human and not a Persona herself.  While she's no stranger to the odd and inexplicable these days, she won't let it confuse her too much. However, even if she did, being confused has never stopped the not so intelligent brawler from beating her opponent's face into a pulp. With her amazing Power Charge and God Hand combo, Chie can quickly send Adel flying back into space! Of course, Auto-Sukukaja and Endure mean that even if one combo doesn't finish Adel off quickly, Chie can follow it up with another wave of painful physicals!

Little miss Satonaka seems to be rather fond of sending her foes flying into space with one solid kick. But what does she really know of the galaxy beyond Earth's horizon? The answer is: not nearly as much as the sorceress Adel, who spent years imprisoned in a space station. During her time in space she has learned one simple trick that will bring her opponent to her knees. While Chie sends her targets into the heavens, Adel brings the heavens down to them with a deadly rain of meteors. The girl from Inaba may be used to deadly rains, but this is one she will simply have no chance of surviving.

There's none better in the DL in inflicting instant pain than one who's mastered time. TL's fighting style is that of the blitz; with everything going into attack. A single tick of Charlton's watch won't get the chance to pass before he explodes into the fight and unloads a full OverDrive chain. Sadly for the warmongering Charlton, he isn't known for durability, relying instead of parasitic healing and speed to survive. That won't do him a bit of good when TimeLord rips him to shreds before he can even light a cigarette!

Most people might be afraid of an enemy who can stop time itself, but after facing the very essence of fear in his home game and standing his ground, Charlton isn't too worried. Of course, that could be because with his cunning, Charlton has managed incredible feats; winning a single battle shouldn't be too hard, no matter how difficult his opponent is. After all, Mr. Blunt only needs to find a strategy to live through Time Lord's initial onslaught; after that, his effective draining and excellent speed should ensure victory!

Forget everything you know about the odds of an angel fighting a little girl. Yes, the smart money is on the little girl, it's a mundane cliche at this point. But in all seriousness, this is Lamington's match to lose. Everyone knows that Lamington is more durable than Superman wrapped in bubblewrap dipped in adamantine. For all the fearsome, feisty Emily's pugilistic skills, she might as well be punching a cloud for all the damage she'll get to stick. Lamington will not yield or relent, leaving him completely free to fry her with some heavenly Judgement. She did a good job getting into Godlike, but Lamington knows the man, he's a very close friend of him, and Emily is no god.
