In this game, it seems that enemies are either vulnerable to status or immune.
AGL affects hit rate and evasion, presumably. I don't know/remember what INT does.
There are some skills derived from equipment. Like I said above, I used setups that maximized ATK. I'll look into the other equips for characters later on (there could be a tech that a character could want on a weapon that has inferior attack power).
Swords (Onimaru, Oboro, Hikoichi, Kabuki, Ageha, Shura, Sanjuro, Mitsuhide)

Sword users may want to opt for Tiger's Fury. Send to Sleep causes sleep at a decent rate while doing lowish damage.
Axes (Kotetsu, Kaidomaru, Onikko)

Supreme Thunder: +71 ATK. Critical Strike.
There doesn't seem to be a reason for the Axe users to use anything but Supreme Thunder.

Raging Hayate: +50 ATK. Quad Thrust.
All spear techs do normal damage, so Raging Hayate is the way to go. In game, these techs have advantages like range.
