Orlandu vs Ryu 3: Cid goes first and breaks Ryu's armor, at once making him vulnerable to MP damage and slaughtering his defense. Ryu morphs into something and gets dark sworded. Because Ryu lost his armor, no dragon defense boost is going to stop that from OHKOing his AP, especially considering it's below average and he has to spend a considerable amount of it just to morph into a powerful dragon. So he then turns back into a human, and gets massacred. Ryu3 doesn't act on the turn he reverts and I believe he doesn't get speed boosts from his transformations, so he's not getting a single dragon turn in edgewise. (Not that a speed boost would help him much, since Orlandu has a huge speed advantage on turn 1, and so will have a lot of CT stored up when Ryu morphs.)

Eh? Ryu3's AP is second-best (below only Nina, although by a notable amount, but Nina has overkill AP), and I believe his dragons -do- give him speed boosts. Also, couldn't Ryu3 just... OHKO with Bonebreak anyhow instead of morphing (although that would be fixed with a sword break. ON THE OTHER HAND, this gives Ryu more time, and he should have accurate "I win" status anyway)? Orlandu isn't particularly durable (above average, yeah, but not a durability god or anything. Think even twinking for full HP, he doesn't even reach 120%?). Although you probably just respect his evade, which could tip things over.
