More "awesome" ideas!

Team "Votesplit!"
- Lezard Valeth (4.23 Heavy)
- Gades (4.59 Godlike)
- Palom (3.11 Middle)

Rank: ...uh...well, the point is that there's questionable ranks here!  Heavy, probably, although I could see Middle.  Yay theme!  Incidentally, there are a lot of people who would fit here - Lezard has to be here, though!  Otherwise, the team can be tailored to any division, really.

Team "Obscura"
- Cai (2.60 Light)
- Maya Amano (3.94 Heavy)
- Darc (3.65 Middle)

Rank: ...ah, this is great!  Middle.  I just picked the 3 lowest vote draws, and tried to pick characters that were polarizing.  Yay!

Team "RPG's Aren't Racist!"
- Barret (3.27 Middle)
- Macha (2.38 Light)
- Black Wizard (2.62 Light)

Rank: Lightish.  Guess the theme here >_>

Thought of another one.

Obviously Compensating for Something
  • Emelious, Grandia 3 (5.19)
  • Arngrim, Valkyrie Profile (4.01)
  • Cloud, Final Fantasy VII (3.95)

Division: Low Godlike

Team Nina
Nina Wyndia, Breath of Fire 4 (4.02)
Nina Wyndia, Breath of Fire 1 (3.74)
Nina Wyndia, Breath of Fire 2 (3.73)

Division: Heavy? All three are currently in that division, but Nina2's presence there is questionable and I dunno how good the synergy is. Open to further opinions here.

Team Pacifism
Mint Adenade, Tales of Phantasia (2.52)
Raja, Phantasy Star IV (1.81)
Shiho, Valkyrie Profile (1.33)

Division: Take a wild guess <_<

EDIT: Some more teams.

Team Pigs of Capitalism
Taloon, Dragon Warrior IV (2.92)
Ramus Farlain, Lunar:SSSC (1.33)
Gobi, Breath of Fire 1 (1.20)

Division: Puny/Light.

This was going to be Team Merchants at first, but then I noticed their general girth and went for the catchier title.

Team Not a Shred of Durability Whatsoever
Emma Hetfield, Wild Arms ACF (2.53)
Pikachu, Pokemon (2.52)
Brey, Dragon Warrior IV (2.09)

Division: High Light, I think, though I could be underestimating their synergy potential as I'm not very familiar with Emma.

Team Whip It Good
Jessica Albert, Dragon Quest VIII (4.51)
Feena, Grandia 1 (4.44)
Lucia, Suikoden series (4.38)

Division: Low Godlike. They're not that strong individually, but damn that's a lot of blitzing power combined.

The Axeman's Greatest Hits
Karsh, Chrono Cross (3.67)
Gryz, Phantasy Star IV (3.22)
Rhett, Suikoden III (3.09)

Division: Well, they're all Middle, so...
MORAL OF THE STORY: Synergistic teams are one way to get ahead in life, but it's hard to argue with an axe to the face.

Came up in chat, courtesy of hinode...

Team XTREEM Speed
Belial (Wild ARMS 4)
Tidus (FFX)
Jude (WA4)

Most likely godlike. Lacks MT damage and is somewhat limited as only Belial has non physical damage. But given how fast everyone will be...Belial offense off initiative 2x normal speed (that's nearly 580%+ average) is quite nutsy. Then Jude also gets a massive damage boost from Haste...and even more so after Slow. Oh, and Rapid attacks stacks too! Tidus still has his Quick Hits to boot.

Team Heavy-turned-godlike Swordgirls
Eirika (FE8)
Beatrix (FF9)
Celes (FF6)

FYI, there are only 4 of them. Guess the last one! Anyway, relatively decent amount of variety, but not really outstanding in any one direction. Probably a Heavy team. I don't detect any particular good synergy between them either. Well I guess Celes can cast Beserk on Eirika for more damage >_>

And now for even less serious entries...
Team Froglike
Jean (BoF2)
Frog (CT)
Malak (FFT)

I don't know. Uh...well MALAK. So that's like a dead slot right there. Guessing Lowish Middle?

Team My Chemical Romantic Dream
Seifer (FF8)
Fujin (FF8)
Raijin (FF8)

High Middle most likely. Can't see Fujin supporting all that deadweight by herself.

For the teams that are given as borderlines, they may be changed if there are too many teams for any one division. Otherwise, I'm just putting them as what they're suggested as. :)

Current No. of Teams: 39
Current No. of Teams per Division:
 - Godlike: 10
 - Heavy: 14
 - Middle: 8
 - Light: 7

Ideally, I'm looking for 16 per division, although I could go with 8 in some (looking to do a not-quite-straight knock-out with this). Anyone able to think up some more interesting low-rank teams? ;)

Team "Twink Bait (In Game, But We Are Seriously Unimpressive In The DL)"

Serph [DDS] (2.76)
Zell [FF8] (2.49) - To be fair, his entire cast is, buuuuuuut
Karn [BoF1] (2.28)

Rank: Light.

Team "Adopted under weird circumstances"

Kid (CC)
Rena (SO2)
Mallow (SMRPG)

1. Reincarnated Soul of a Magical Princess who was thrown into a Parallel Dimension and merged with an Ancient Evil.
2. Daughter of a Scientist from a Power-Mad Civilization sent 10,000 years into the Future to an Alien Planet.
3. Long-lost Prince of the Cloud Kingdom who was Raised By Frogs.

RPG backstories are fun. Light.

Team Guy
Guy (FE7) - Middle (3.50)
Guy (TotA) - Middle (3.43)
Guy (L2) - Middle (3.30)

- Middle.

Team Headband
Cress Albane (ToP) - Heavy (4.11)
Max (SF1) - Middle (3.61)
Locke Cole (FF6) - Light (2.97)

- Middle also, probably.

Team Green nonhumans
Raja (PS4) - Light (1.81)
Bowser (SMRPG) - Middle (3.17)
Meganium (PKMN) - Middle (3.40)

- Middle.

Team Gardening:

Peco (BoF3 - Light - 3.13)
Funguy (CC - Light - 2.35)
Neo-Fio (CC - Light - 1.96)

Light, of course.  BURN, MY PRETTIES!

Team Boom:

Jeff (EB - Heavy - 3.73)
Margarete Zelle (SH1 - Middle - 3.04) (Erm...  She has Grenades and that Air Strike move?)
Alfred Schrodinger (WA3 - Light - 1.84)

High Light, really.  Jeff really doesn't belong in Heavy with that atrocious speed of his.

Team "What the hell, defined genders?!"

Jenna Angel (DDS - Godlike - 5.51)
Quina Quen (FF9 - Heavy - 3.73)
Lucius (FE7 - Light - 2.93)

...Yeah, that's no less than a solid Godlike set.

Team Ninjas

Yukimaru (Disgaea2 - Light - 3.05)
Frank Goldfinger (SH3 - Light - 2.84)
Akaghi (S4 - Light - 2.47)

Light, of course.  This is a terrible team.  The best one here is obviously Frank, since he can take a hit and have damage.

Team Flames of Desire

Lucied (Wild arms 1/2/3/ACF)
Boomerang (Wild arms 1/ACF)
Anastasia Valeria (Wild arms 2)

Middle. Boomerang cancels the most threatening enemy with shadow Stitch and revives Lucied. Lucied and Anastasia pummel the rest of the enemy team.
This team has a godlike in it but basically falls apart if Boomerang is killed so it's pretty easy to win against so middle it is.

Yoshiken - Alcoholics Anonymous - Godlike Heavy
 - Jecht (FFX - Godlike/4.54)
 - Roland (DDS - Middle/3.12)
 - Ronfar (Lunar2 - Middle/2.86)

Godlike. Definitely. Two healers and at least one with revival. (Not sure on Ronfar, can he revive?) And Jecht. Yeeaaah.

Still need a couple more teams for each division, so feel free to post teams for whatever you like. I've also got some teams that are borderline and can be switched if needed, so don't feel limited to certain divisions any more~

Edit: Just had it pointed out that both of those healers are pretty slow. Dammit. Heavy/Godlike, then, being listed as Heavy for now.

Team "Blonde Swordsman Main Characters with Bandanas and Names that Start with C"

Claude C. Kenni (SO2)
Chaz Ashley (PS4)
Cress Albane (ToP)

Too similar not to be a team! Although, they may secretly all be the same person...

Claude is the highest ranked, I believe, but also the least versatile. This feels like a Heavy/Godlike Borderliner team.

Team "Unique Status Whores"

Millenia (G2)
Reno (FF7)
Noa (LoL)

Noa's the fast status whore here, but also has the most common status (charm). Reno's Pyramid status is unique, but still stopped by bosses and other status-immunes. Millenia's a slug, but has the unstoppable status SBE thing going on. Dangerous team that can conceivably stop a whole team before it starts. Godlike. I wish I could make a Nyarlie's Dungeon team with these three...

Team "The Other Kind of Yuri"

Florina (FE7)
Virginia (WA3)
White Rose (SaGa)

Guess the theme! Oh, come on, you -knew- I had to make a Lesbian team at some point. This team has some decent damage and White Rose brings some versatility (And Ginny if you allow Mediums or Mystic). Still, they're all Middle-ish. Probably Middle together, too.

I realize that I've made like 10 teams now...

Team Traitors

Celes (FF6)
Sialeeds (S5)
Cait Sith (FF7)

Uh...  Heavy, and a rather lowish one.  They spoil with status, but have major problems against teams with too many bosses, as Celes doesn't have as much time to get her stall game going.

Team Flying Traitors
Kratos (ToS)
Kain (FF4)
Jill (FE9)

Middle.  Uh...  Kratos is cool and all, but he can't carry a team by himself.  Jill's counters are less useful in a team format, too.

Note that Sanaki is not ranked, so none of these teams have anything to fear.

Team Darkness and Light
Gares (OB)
Cecil (FF4)
Miguel (CC)

Why have a Holy Fisherman and an insane Black Knight joined forces?  And where does the conflicted Cecil stand, as Dark Knight or Paladin?  (I'd see form choice as definitely legal for this team!)

Feels Heavyish.  TurnBlack is pretty badass here in combination with Cecil's holy damage, but Gares is such deadweight I doubt this swings Godlike.

Team Fusion
Yuri (SHs)
Kurando (SH2)
Alicia (VP2)

Godlike.  Okay, Alicia won't be doing any undead-valkyrie fusing in the DL (thankfully), but Invoke Feather & Heal will do.  This is kinda close to Magic Fanatic's Team Shapeshifters, so feel free to ignore it if there aren't enough slots.

Team Hard-bitten Mercenary
Gafgarion (FFT)
Watari (S3)
Selphie (FF8)

High Light.  Gaffy isn't nearly as good in a team format where he can be overwhelmed.  Also mostly like the conversations I'd imagine between the experienced and amoral Gaff, the quiet Shadow, and, uh, morale-improver SeeD mercenary Selphie having.  It can totally be that anime with the two samurai and the random bubbly girl.  EDIT: On second thought, Shadow's probably too good for light.  My personal Shadow respect is quite low (don't let him throw most of the cool expensive stuff) but it seems it's better for others, and Invis Edge will spoil a lot of Light, so Watari it is instead.

Team Sage Advice
Genis Sage (ToS)
Zhuzen Liu (SH)
Saleh (FE8)

Light. Zhuzen's best damage is MT, IIRC, as is Genis's, so the team isn't as screwed as they might appear at first.  (Originally had Olan here, but Galaxy Stop is actually pretty awesome in a team format, and Light needs more teams.)

Team Falenan Royalists
Prince (S5)
Lyon (S5)
Miakis (S5)

High Heavy.  The Prince and his bodyguards.  Rather than use cute combo attacks, I expect they'll just be smashing stuff with Unite Magic.  Disable one of 'em and the fight is likely yours, but otherwise prepare for horrid overkill.

Team Just Say No
Alenia (S5)
Zahhak (S5)
Kresnik (WA4)

Light.  Drugs turn out to be highly overrated, as the performance of this team will no doubt indicate.

Team Garlyle
Nana (G1)
Saki (G1)
Mio (G1)

Don't let the fact that they have a super-combo attack fool you; it isn't actually that super and they all kinda suck.  Light.

Team Still in the Saddle
Marcus (FE7)
Dueseel (FE8)
FuSoYa (FF4)

Light.  The arthritis isn't that bad!  FuSoYa can do some mean things if he gets a turn, which he shouldn't.

Team "You cannot understand my TRUE POWER!"
Graham Cray (S4)
Evil Gaia (G1)
Augst (WA4)

Low Light.  Okay, Augst isn't a final boss, but like Graham Cray his transformation leaves much to be desired.  At least Gaia handed out cool tentacles to Baal.
Added a bunch of light teams, if that's where the shortage is.

Team "Don't Ask Don't Tell"

Lavitz (LoD)
Raven (FE7)
Kanji Tatsumi (P4)

...blame the Djinn.

Middle.

I added a bunch of Light teams to my previous post if that's where there's a shortage.

Okay, just done collecting the teams for the first time, and we're up to 25 teams so far. Just a few things that'd help for now, while I aim for a few more. Can people, if they have any spare time, check over the teams briefly to check that the ranks are mostly okay?

Comments: Team XTREEM Speed is extremely high godlike, maybe too good (weird for having a Middle and a Low Godlike in it!).  But Tidus ended up a 3.5 pick in Nyarlthotep's dungeon for a reason; combined with Belial's 4D Pocket likely ignoring even full status immunity to most people (except maybe VP2 characters who block TRANSFER), and the fact that I think somebody said in one of the old Twink Leagues that Belial can 4D Pocket multiple characters...  yeah, she's immediately annihilating all the PCs on the other team.  Even against a team of all bosses that are immune to Slow, there's still Delay Strike, and Belial is getting constant quadruple and quintuple-turns.  Backed by Jude with a machine gun for megadamage.

Team Whip it Good isn't Low Godlike, it's High Godlike.  Runs into some major problem with fire resistance, admittedly, since Magic Burst & lots of Lucia's attack are fire based...  but...   Magic Burst is full MT and Jessica is fast (at least when not going up against Team XTREME), so lots of weaker bosses / PCs without fire resistance tend to die immediately.  Feena's pretty fast too, and End of the World is apparently non-elemental (despite looking like flaming death) and also 999 MT damage to everyone after the Time Stop.  Plus, the team can even stall fairly well so that fire-resistance isn't an auto-loss; Feena's got a full team MT Resurrection / Healing / Status Healing move, and she's immune to status herself.

Team Lady's Entourage is pretty high Godlike too, since those bosses start with stock and aren't bad on speed.  They just need one other person and they can even unleash Combo Magic!  Yeah, "get a turn, boost in extra turns for everyone, and win if some of us aren't dead already."  Probably lose to the above two teams, amusingly enough, but likely beats up lots of other Godlike teams mentioned.

Team Boom feels Light-Middle borderish.  Margerete also has an ID attack, and her air strike is MT, so she's non-trivial in a team-setting.  (I wouldn't hold her against the Seraphic Radiance damage average myself; admittedly she's worse if you do.)  Dunno what other think on what side of the divide it is.

Most of the other suggested rankings look good to me, at least.

Okay~! Perfect! Thanks a lot, guys. <3
We've gone up to 65 teams, meaning one's gonna have to be cut, so SnowFire, I'm cutting the Fusion one like you mentioned.
Some re-arranging will be necessary to get 16 teams in each division (final G/H/M/L numbers were 13/19/15/18) but I'll get to checking them and... hopefully have the first round up within the next week or two. :o
Thanks again~! ^_^

Well, I'd already set these up before I saw Yoshi's post, so a few more if needed to fill the ranks.

Team "Come, my backup einherjar!"
Hrist (VP2)
Auron (FFX)
Pamela Ibis (MK)

Hey, Auron's not bad with the whole initiative thing.  Hrist's boss form is kinda scrubby in a team match due to the other team being able to stall around the limit phase, though she has her weaker PC form too.  No idea about Pamela but she seems like a proper fourth-tier choice for valiant warriors for Valhalla. High Heavy.

Team Piloting License Revoked Forever
Yuki (G3)
Scythe Riebauer (WA4)
Cid (FF4)

Solidly Low Middle.  Lots of internal tension on this team...  will Yuki crash his airplane into Scythe?  Again?  When it happens, Cid is ready to jump out and detonate a bomb strapped on his clothes, yet somehow survive both the bomb and the splatting into the ground.  Y uki's Flash can spoil some teams out, but not as many as you'd think, as the evade only works when Yuki isn't being hit or attacking himself.  This is far easier to set up in a team match - hit him with something ITE, have the rest of the team join in and beat on him.

Team Zombie
Gremio (S1)
Aeris (FF7)
Lavitz (LoD)

Light.  Lavitz is a Middle but there's not really any synergy going on here, and Aeris is easily left for last.

Also note that I edited Team Hard-Bitten Mercenary, Shadow is too good for High Light (at least according to the stat topic).

Really cool idea. Deserves a bonus match dedicated to this concept. But at the very least, I'd sacrifice seeing a few of my teams in to see this one get in the tourney, Yoshiken.

Hrm. I'm already having to switch around some teams...

Right. I did the draw for the tournament earlier - after making that post earlier, I actually sorted out all of the teams and did the whole draw then.
'Course, then SnowFire posted those teams. I decided, since they were entered in afterwards, I wouldn't include them... except for the dislike of an Obscura team. It's gonna be hard to get votes in team matches as it is and so, upon some advice, I've decided to remove the Obscura team in favour of one of those.
Oh, and then I noticed hinode's edited-in teams. >_<

So, yeah. I've removed one of my teams (Master of Puppets, if anyone cares) to make room for the Pigs of Capitalism team (I liked the name), and I'm gonna add Team Whip It Good as well, due to having two -very- similar teams in Godlike already - typically, I'm now removing both Shapeshifting teams. (Sorry, Fanatic, you've got more teams in than Neph, so seems fair to remove your one. It was Shapeshifters or God-killers.)
Aaand... to finish off, I'll remove one of SnowFire's (apparently slightly powerful for Heavy) teams to make room for the Backup Einherjar. Bye-bye, Falenas Royalists~

Everyone okay with that~? If so, I'll probably start this... today or tomorrow instead of in a few weeks, 'cause I'm impatient like that. :)
