Stealing Yulie > Ashton from you then.

Ashton dashed towards Yulie at breakneck speed, his coat and hair flapping in the wind as he bore down on his target.

Yulie began to chant a spell.

Feeling that he's close enough, Ashton pulled his blades forward as he initiated his most powerful move.

Yulie took a few steps back.

Ashton's swords swung in a manner that was somehow both wild yet graceful. Pleasing and frightening to behold, Ashton's Sword Dance sliced through the air with deadly precision.

Yulie casted Replace.

Ashton blinked in confusion as his quarry disappeared from his sight. Confusion was followed by the all-to-familiar pang of dread he gets when the universe was being a meanie to him as he suddenly found himself Sword Dancing off the ring.

One unceremonious crash from the hapless swordsman later, and Yulie, who was now standing some feet closer to the center of the ring after switching places with Ashton, was declared the winner via ring-out.

Jin > Alonso

Alonso vs. Jin....in a sailing competition?

You'd think that the ball would be squarely in Alonso's court here, seeing as no matter what else you think of the man he's still a damn good sailor.

Except that Jin is just enough of a jackass to smash his boat to bits with a giant robot then book a leisurely cruise around the world to collect his victory.

Hey, all's fair in love, war and the dueling league, right?

Zophar>Souji

Things that you never want to see:

Souji, Kanji, Yosuke and Teddie in bikinis facing off against Zophar.

The guys weren't really trying to win, mind. Souji was well aware of Zophar's reputation and decided his run was good enough as it stood.

That, and it wasn't their idea to be in bikinis. That one falls solely on the giggling trio of Yukiko, Chie and Aigis.

...Wait, Aigis?

----------

"Zophar's combat capability down 72% due to confusion. Initiating Shadow capture program."

----------

The resulting mess of Aigis summoning Lucifer and immediately doing a combo attack (accidentally) with Souji's Satan leveled most the battlefields in the area, also nuking Zophar.

Still, Zophar won due to outside interference. So all's well that ends well for pure destruction?

Demi>Nina

Nina was confident.

Nina was sure.

Nina ended up being pelted by birdshot from an irate Demi, eventually getting worn down from the constant hits and falling over.

Sometimes, being confident is the same as being cocky, which is the same as being lazy...

Which is the same as ending up dead.

Kary>>>Lede

Kary and Lede faced each other calmly. Two maidens of destruction, on the battlefield. Both capable of rending flesh from limbs as easily as breathing.

And then Kary set Lede on fire.

MORAL OF THE STORY: You may be fast and deadly, but fire will always set you on fire. With fire.

Axl>Rudy

Axl has guns.

Rudy has guns.

Clearly, this could end only one way.

---------------

"...Rudy? You were supposed to shoot a hole -in- the card, not completely obliterate the card." Jack sighed as Axl plugged aces. Rudy shrugged, and wandered off.

"Right. Guess you win, Axl." Jack shrugged as he, too, left.

Xorn>Jenna:

The god of despair and hopelessness, of destruction and ruination.

A goddess(?) of war, one who wants to see the most vicious rise to the top of the world she ruled.

In this clash, only one result could have existed.

---

"....uggggggghhhhhhh. You are so unbelievably worthless." Jenna muttered in disgust. Turning on her heel, she walked out of the arena.

"WAIT! COME BACK, I HAVEN'T TOLD YOU ABOUT ALL THE HORRIFIC MISERABLE THINGS PEOPLE DO TO PEOPLE, AND ABOUT HOW NO ONE APPRECIATES THE BEAUTY OF MY CRYSTALLINE ART EXCEPT EMELIOUS HE'S THE ONLY ONE THAT UNDERSTANDS ME." Xorn called out, oblivious to his victory.

People who get things done just can't stand the emos.

Garet>>>Aguro

Two swordsmen of fine caliber.

One has magic, Djinn and the intelligence of a brick. The other has far more intelligence, but no magic.

Sadly, the Djinn don't rely on Garet's intelligence...

-----------------------

"OW OW OW STOP FLYING AT ME!" Aguro yelled, running around as Garet's released Djinn simply divebombed him.

"Hey, stop it! You're supposed to be- ow, stop clipping me!" Garet screamed, ducking low to avoid the Djinn choosing to go past Garet's head as the best flight path.

On the sidelines, all the remaining Adepts, ideally there to cheer Garet on, stared in stunned silence. Felix was the first to speak. "...is he normally this stupid?"

Ivan smirked at this. "Sadly, scarily, frustratingly, no."

"Well, that's- ......"

"He's usually worse." Mia nodded.

"...... it takes talent at failure to not be able to control Djinn at -all-, though."

"Hey, unlike Isaac, djinn -can- say no to Garet." Jenna ribbed. "Right, Isaac?"

"Oh, go shove it." Isaac growled, watching Garet's Djinn finally chase Aguro out of the arena. "Let's go knock Garet out and go home."
