Seeing as we seem to be trying out alternative forum games i thought it would be a good idea to try diplomacy.
For those of you who don't know diplomacy is a strategy game with next to no chance involved, it is very simplistic in its rules and the main centre of the game is diplomacy, because i suck at descriptions heres a copy/paste of the overview
Diplomacy is a game of negotiations, alliances, promises kept, and
promises broken. In order to survive, a player needs help from
others. In order to win the game, a player must eventually stand
alone. Knowing whom to trust, when to trust them, what to promise,
and when to promise it is the heart of the game. Remember, you are
a diplomat first, a commander second.Diplomacy is a Turn based strategy game, Each Year is split into 2 Turns (Spring and Fall) Each turn is split into phases, Spring has 4 Phases and Fall has 5
The Phases are as Follows
Diplomatic Phase - Players talk about what they plan to do and what they're going to do
Order Writing Phase - Players write down their moves/orders
Order Resolution Phase - The results of the players orders are shown
Retreat Phase - Appropriate Units are removed from the board or retreat
Gaining and Losing Phase (only occurs in Fall) - Players gain more units/Lose units
There Are a Total of 4 types of orders you can give they are:
Hold - The unit holds its position
Move - Self explanatory, moving into an occupied province is called attacking
Support - Use 1 or More units to assist another units action
Convoy - Use a Fleet to move Units Across a water province.
There can only ever be 1 unit in a province at a time.
If a unit Attacks into a province the unit + number of supporting units is added together, this must outnumber the opponents units + support in order to dislodge them from the province and take the place.
This is the basic Gist of the game, we will be playing 5th Edition Rules which can be viewed here.
