For a dumb, near-mute mercenary, at least Jacques as the good sense to stay out of harm's way. Only complete ignoramuses go to fight something head on! On the other hand, he still doesn't have a chance since he's using his muscles, not his brain. Leon can pick that sort of opponent apart with his magic no problem. Sure, arrows hurt, but what do they mean compared to spells like Extinction and Gremlin's Lair? Not a whole lot, that's what. Being the supergenius he is, Leon can pile these spells on with a motor-sped mouth, blowing Jacques away before he can do anything pesky, like interrupt his spellcasting. It's a direct magic blitz that will leave the crossbowman splayed out and quite completely defeated!
