Tournament of Randomness - Semifinals

Semifinals

Match 61

Two guitars, one set of drums, and a voice.  The essence of rock.  But rock is a fickle beast, and there can only be one star.  And so we have the battle of the bands, where two enter, but only one can leave.

As Vice President of These Great United States of America, he's here to show why America is the birthplace, and still the home of, Rock.  And as a master propagandist, he'll not only be likely to get his hands on a great band, but also his voice as the highliner, as he shows us all why a Heart that loves Rock'n'Roll is a Heart that loves America.

But, against the American can-do rock'n'roll spirit comes one of the lead generals of the Goddess of Song herself.  That's right, White Knight Leo takes the field under his stage persona, Mystere.  On the Bass is Hiro, while the drums are handled by "Punching Puppet" Ghaleon himself.  And on vocals, he can't pull the strings to get the Goddess of Song herself, but can get her right hand, Lucia, whose songs are also simply divine.

And so, who will rock out more?  The Chosen of the Goddess of Song, or the Vice President of the Great United States of America, and band forged of American Pride?

Match 62

The line between life and death is rarely literal.  But this is one of the few exceptions.  A single line, going from point A to point B, with a massive drop below.  In this case, our contestants need to cross in as little time as possible over three tries.

Maria Traydor will prove a tough foe to beat.  Very athletically able, and known for her nimbleness, Maria will have little issue with this challenge.  However, she's up against SOLDIER Cloud Strife, who is also in excellent shape, and has had to deal with both narrow surfaces and heights surprisingly often.

So which one of these two skilled warriors will top the other?

Quick Vote Form

The moon is a pretty music-heavy place.  Also Richard Hawk is kind of old to start a rock career.  It's fine if you establish yourself early then keep on cashing in on your youth forever, but Richard probably sends off too much "thanks, Dad" vibes here to get the fans and stalkers.  Meanwhile Leo's horn is totally radical.
62: Maria Traydor v Cloud Strife - Tightrope Walking
They both make it across, but it's who gets there faster to tiebreak?  Tough for Maria, as she has the worst walking speed in the game.

Richard Hawk is a guy who knows how to find musicians and get them to work for him, and while Lunar is pretty music heavy, rock is an unfamiliar genre there.

62: Maria Traydor v Cloud Strife - Tightrope Walking

Richard's first single would be a song feat. P-rez Michael Wilson, "How do you like us now"

Maria snipes Cloud off his tightrope.

61: Richard Hawk v White Knight Leo - Rock Band- IIRC, Leo's already got groupies, and he damn well has the persona to be successful as well.
62: Maria Traydor v Cloud Strife - Tightrope Walking- Cloud's escape to the upper plate of Midgard alone required great agility and dexerity. He seems suited for this.

Alright, update is tomorrow.  So far the only close one is Richard Hawk vs. Leo, at a 2-2 tie, but at these vote totals, even Cloud vs. Maria can be swayed!

Gonna kneejerk... uh, hell.

Leo wins the music (gets a GODDESS to sing with him, nevermind that it's the wrong game, if RICHARD HAWK is working against LEO the normal rules don't apply), and... Maria wins tightrope - causes Sector 7 to collapse, Cloud jumps off to go help people and Maria wins by default.

Leo wins the Rock Band contest. I mean, MYSTERE WINS THE ROCK BAND CONTEST.

Cloud is a physical badass and just trounces poor Maria. At leas she's still prettier.

This works. Also, I really doubt the secret service would put up with letting the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA hang out in the dangerous environment that is a genuine rock concert. So he tries to do everything by propaganda (as always), but sadly the type of people who like rock music are the one group cynical enough to see through his lies. Granted, they're too jaded and apathetic to actually try to combat his insurgent regime, but they do pan him as a rock star.

Match 1: Mystere: His first single is titled "Taste My Refreshment."

Match 2: Cloud: Maria might try to shoot him off of his tightrope, but RPG logic tells us that FF7 characters are immune to guns doing anything more than superficial damage.
