Miguel (CC) vs Claude (SO2): My general rule of thumb is that TurnBlack gets rid of holy resistance (provable) but not absorption (provable). Eternal Sphere only nulls... I don't think that's good enough? But then I notice Silvance absorbs it! It also makes Claude's own damage holy, which is bad against Miguel, but as far as I can recall he reduces holy damage rather than nulls/absorbs it himself. So yeah Claude cruises.
Miguel vs Fou-Lu (BoF4): Don't try to outslug Fou with holy... although mm, Miguel can remove that with TurnBlack. Still that puts him a bit behind the eightball since it means Fou gets the first strike of real damage and full-HP Dark Wave tears him apart.
Miguel vs Ultimecia (FF8): Ultimecia absorbs holy... except in her final form. Sadly for her that's the form I hold her to.
Miguel vs Citan (XG): Miguel's maximum potential damage with HDS is 240*1.375*1.25 = 412.5/290 = 142% to average. That certainly does kill Citan (1.25 mdur), so he needs to blitz. In fact just two bits of holy in the field are enough? Yeah he gets there quickly enough.
Miguel vs Kuja (FF9): Sure.
Miguel vs Bacchus (SO4): On the other hand Bacchus does have the HP to never be OHKOed... but Miguel's damage when spammed is too much, he's heal-locked pretty badly since Emerency Repairs is only 55%.
Miguel vs Lyon (S5): Uh if Lyon is faster she has a shot but I don't think she is and even then Miguel might just survive two Vermillion Skies anyway.
Miguel vs Nina (BoF4): Nina can null holy, but against I don't consider that good enough. My tiebreak, if anyone's curious, is that it isn't even possible to absorb damage when you face Miguel, so giving him credit to tiebreak in the ambiguous case. Absorb holy against him or kill him quick or die.
Miguel vs Summoner (FF5): 2HKOs, isn't OHKOed. Definitely don't see Reflect working on HDS.
Lassic (PS4) vs Claude (SO2): Nulls dark and halves lightning, so should be able to turtle and win, or just outslug even at that point since he's only being 6HKOed.
Lassic vs Fou-Lu (BoF4): Lashiec has a 4HKO here, but is probably slower. Fou-Lu... can he kill in four? Lashiec has 4.14PCHP by my rough estimate... I honestly think that's just enough to survive, the opening Dark Wave hurts like crazy but afterwards... don't think Fou can quite do enough. Bizarre.
Lassic vs Ultimecia (FF8): lolno
Lassic vs Citan (XG): Far too fast, heals off Another Gate, blocks sleep at the cost of some defence or something. And yeah, Haze of Fire keeps the battle to a manageable length.
Lassic vs Kuja (FF9): Kuja easily 3-2's but even an instant double probably doesn't let him win this.
Lassic vs Bacchus (SO4): Lashiec's only real hope lies in using sleep since otherwise Emergency Repairs heals off what he does too quickly. Since he's slower this is a huge crapshoot. He DOES manage a low 2HKO though so if he ever gets Bacchus to sleep for two extra turns he wins, and one means he holds even... guess that's his strategy. Bacchus meanwhile needs 9 turns to win. I dunno, one of these days I should test how effective sleep is in the hands of various people. But... I have to think Lashiec gets one 2-turn sleep before he gets 8 zero-turn sleeps.
Lassic vs Lyon (S5): If you see Vermillion Sky hitting weakness... it's still not enough.
Lassic vs Nina (BoF4): Nina's AP reserves are going to be sorely tested here. She badly wants to avoid a 2HKO... which a Warding Staff coupled with one casting of Inpsire allows her to do. But... Thunder Halberd is a problem, she'll need to avoid a 2HKO from THAT, never mind... except innate wind resistance to the rescue1 Okay. Use that setup, Inspire once... actually, screw that, five times... then 12HKO. So she needs 17 "attacking" turns costing 154 AP. That leaves 11 turns left over for healing. Is that enough? With all the doubleturns... yeah probably, especially if the Angel Vest boosts her healing compared to what the stat topic says, as is my suspicion. Lashiec still has sleep as an option, but since he only 3HKOs and the speed split is horrific I don't think that will save him like it did against Bacchus.
Lassic vs Summoner (FF5): Nooope.
Dark Knight (BD) vs Claude (SO2): Go first, use Life or Death, laugh at feeble Claude damage then as soon as possible lower self to low HP and use Minus Strike x3. (He can do this three turns in with Rage, or if Claude starts attacking can combine with Claude's own damage to get himself low enough.)
Dark Knight vs Fou-Lu (BoF4): Physicals don't cut it here, Minus Strike is the only real hope, and DK can't really get more than three shots (=1.22 PCHP) of that off.
Dark Knight vs Ultimecia (FF8): Enough respect for her speed and durability that she takes this. Hell's Judgement, survive 4 Minus Strikes, poke.
Dark Knight vs Citan (XG): No dark resistance. Go look at DK's entry in the stat topic, even with Citan getting the drop, the LOWEST damage DK will do first turn is like 1.5 PCHP.
Dark Knight vs Kuja (FF9): As above.
Dark Knight vs Bacchus (SO4): Not too many PCs who can claim to one-round Bacchus with physicals on turn 1.
Dark Knight vs Lyon (S5): Yep.
Dark Knight vs Nina (BoF4): Ouch.
Dark Knight vs Summoner (FF5): Faster.
Wakka (FFX) vs Claude (SO2): Sleep.
Wakka vs Fou-Lu (BoF4): Yeah I don't think so.
Wakka vs Ultimecia (FF8): Hell's Judgement then poke, backed by drain immunity.
Wakka vs Citan (XG): E&C. Wakka will need an overdrive or TKO to end this.
Wakka vs Kuja (FF9): Counters mean Drain won't work, and beyond that Kuja just outslugs.
Wakka vs Bacchus (SO4): Sleep.
Wakka vs Lyon (S5): Don't view resistance as doing anything against Wakka's one-turn status, so yeah.
Wakka vs Nina (BoF4): Okay. Nina is immune to both status and draining which goes a long way here, but still needs to worry about a Wakka overdrive. She kills in five hits, Wakka... probably just wants to use Warrior and build to an OD as quickly as possible... but the problem is that his Triple OD weapon lowers in damage (and hence OD gain) as Nina hurts him... he doesn't even manage 10000 damage which certainly isn't enough. Much better is to use an ordinary, defence-subject weapon, which 3HKOs Nina's poor durability and gives him an overdrive after eight attacks. Still... even if she never doubles, Nina goes attack attack heal attack heal attack attack and wins. Close, certainly.
Wakka vs Summoner (FF5): Immunes both silence and sleep, summons Odin or Catoblepas.
Dark Knight 7-2 (ow. Take him out FAST or have gobs of HP, or die)
Miguel 7-2 (my respect for TurnBlack helps him, certainly)
Lashiec 6-3 (slugging is great outside his speed, which means PCs are more pesky for him on average)
Wakka 4-5 (he's a mean heavy, but probably belongs there?)
