A few other random thoughts:

--Hugo may actually 2HKO at base. Ryu is dropping a little defense, and Hugo's damage is somewhat defense piercing anyways.
--Hugo doesn't just have a chance to counter when he gets hit, he also has a chance to counter when he Repels (although I unfortunately am not sure of the rate, it at least means that even when Ryu is whiffing, there's a chance for Hugo to put on offensive pressure).
--Hugo has about 1 SD of speed advantage. For me, in this match, that's probably almost a good 10 extra turns or so. On a higher SD, this just tilts more and more.
...into the nightfall.

Hmm. If you see status resistance as affecting S3 stun (in addition to sleep), then that probably tilts things Ryu's way. But on reflection I'm pretty sure that I don't; Yellow Scarves don't stop it, and I've seen most bosses affected by it. I think that's enough to flip my vote.

Maybe.

Chivalrous Rika (PS4) vs. PC Magus (CT): How much does Illusion wreck Magus' speed?  Rika might have an argument if he didn't immune it.

Unholy Rosa (FF4) vs. Pauper Orlandu (FFT): I see FF4 Bserk ignoring magic evasion.  I also see Orlandu doing more damage with berserked, boosted Icebrand physicals than swordskills, killing in two attacks, and faster.

Closing this tonight, most likely.
