Match of never ending DOOM

This came up as a result of S43's match ups. Luckily this did not happen on the main DL site. Unfortunately, I am bored enough from writing my work term report to create a topic for it. So here's the scoop:

ACF Mariel can restore her MP, can restore her HP using magic but has craptastic stats all around.

Shiho only has Wait Reaction as an attack option.

Both deal similar damage, neither has fatal status (silence in this case, ID, petrify, etc.). And no old age does not kill either off since Shiho's already dead and technically a ghost. Mariel is immortal.

So! Barring all the easy paths of escape are gone...WHO WINS?

If voted Shiho, just like I would in the DL. It's obviously a stalemate to the death...except I give Mariel some kind of level penalty. So...maybe I'm feeling nice and Mariel has 80% the levels of everyone else. I think considering her durability and damage at that point, I'm seeing her as the one who is more stalled/healing more/Guard Reinforce will make her cry.

Having only watched Alter Code F...  how good is the flee option in it, assuming there is one?  Assuming that actual players have to play this one out, eventually somebody will misclick and accidentally flee.  According to the VP instruction manual, this only works 70% of the time for Shiho, so she'll be forced back into battle 30% of the time.  If ACF has perfect fleeing, then the odds are in Shiho's favor!  (If ACF has worse fleeing or none at all without an Escape spell, then Mariel probably takes this one.)

Guard Reinforce is OPB (though it lasts ten turns), so in an infinite fight its effect is negligible.

Inclined to agree with you otherwise. When in doubt, tiebreak against Mariel's level.

This is just so pathetic of a fight and an unwinable one for each fighter. I'll give it to Mariel though because, well I don't quite know. Maybe its because Shiho will eventually be called back by Lenneth, while Mariel's brother will properly give her the guardian blade so this terrible match will end.

So the question is, who has more patience? Vassim or Lenneth?

I say Vassim as Lenneth has a job to do and he has proven he can be at least 1000 years without his sister. So Lenneth comes in first and DQs Shiho.

If nothing else I'd tiebreak in Shiho's favor. It may be amusing to only give her Wait Reaction, but a simple low level spell would give her the match here.

It's a fair view, just correcting it. No Wait Reaction means Shiho sits in a state of paralysis in-game. In order for a VP mage to cast a menu spell she needs to give up her attack that turn, and no Wait Reaction + no attack spells = no attack to give up.

Unless Shiho manages to keep up a constant threat of a 2HKO (...what?), I'm seeing Mariel as winning this - she can alternate between healing and attacking, right?

But still, universe implosion is FAR more likely.
