Erk (vs. Jewel)
« on: June 13, 2008, 08:45:03 PM »
Classic Match of someone with a Water Rune against someone with Magic!  Normally, he'd be worried about Silent Lake.  Yes, that one spell that completely makes him want to kill something, cause it makes unable TO kill something...but this is an odd case.  Why? Cause his opponent apparently doesn't have much practice with her Water Rune, lacking enough to use that move.  So what's the bottom line of this fight? Thunder. Lots and lots of thunder.  He's going to keep throwing electrical bolts of death over and over and hoping with all those counters, evading, dealing with Serra as a cheer leader, and possibly losing his voice from chanting the same spell repeatedly he'll eventually get that lovely Critical Hit and watch the foolish girl die to a shocking finish!

Apparently, against the perky soldier Jewel, the unlucky Erk is stuck in a classic Water Runer vs. Mage conundrum... which would be worrying for him, certainly. Yes, Silent Lake, which shuts down all magic, would certainly spell doom. However, this isn't the case. Jewel's ineptitude in magic is so severe that she can't even muster the spellcasting prowess to use Silent Lake to begin with. As such, Erk can simply worry about raining deadly thunders from heaven with reckless abandon. With counters to effectively double his offense against Jewel and his own solid speed to keep him afloat, nothing can keep Erk from winning. Not even dealing with Serra as a cheer leader - in just the right time, a critical thunderbolt will connect and fry Jewel once and for all, making Erk the Light champion of Season 43!
