Oh I agree whole heartedly, FF7 plot suffers from pretty much everything that tries to rip off Evangelion in anyway at all because they are not actually deconstructing anything, they are just horribly vapid and shallow because of bad writing.
I also don't care what the writer intended or tried to do. I deal with the product that we have. Tifa is written as a handful of bad cliches, overly clingy girl next door type with a mix of angst and a few other things in there. Mix it all together and you have a delightful mental patient.
