Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
« on: August 27, 2008, 02:54:10 PM »
(quick port, will fix formatting errors/"Rad is stupid" errors later)

LV: Level
HP: Hit-Points, lose them and die.
BP: Bro points. Useless in the DL.
POW: Attack power. More POW = more damage done.
DEF: Defense. More DEF = less damage taken.
Speed: ... Speed. More speed = going first.
Stache: How stylish your 'stache is. More Stache = Higher critical chance and cheaper items in stores.

Working on a new file where I won't use coffee to give Mario and Luigi overkill. In the mean time, I have these non-coffee'd stats.

Mario
"Doo-do-do-day do-do-duh-da-daro!"
LV: 8
HP: 21
BP: 15 (21)
POW: 26 (36)
DEF: 22 (26)
Speed: 29
Stache: 13
Armor: Work Pants (+4 DEF) (Unique)
Badge: Bean Badge (+6 BP, +10 POW)

Jump:
Hammer: 10

Luigi
"Oh yeah!"
LV: 8
HP: 24 (29)
BP: 16 (18)
POW: 31 (43)
DEF: 26 (42)
Speed: 19
Stache: 11
Armor: Blue Jeans (+5 HP, +16 DEF) (Unique)
Badge: Pea Badge (+2 BP, +12 POW)

Jump:
Hammer: 12

Averages

HP- 25
Luigi - 29
Mario - 21

Damage- 11
Luigi - 12
Mario - 10

DEF- 34
Luigi - 42
Mario - 26

Speed- 24
Mario - 29
Luigi - 19

Stache- 12
Mario - 13
Luigi - 11

Evaluations:

Mario: Much much faster than Luigi, but fails at everything else. Middle.

Luigi: Being really slow can hurt, but having game's best damage and almost twice as much defence as the second highest defense in the game helps a lot. Heavy.

I'll get Fawful 1 and that fat guy later.
I show how much damage they do with /s. The left side is Mario, the right is Luigi.

Bowser (Tutorial)
"Attacking me from behind eh? Well that's typical! C'mere Super Coward Bros.!"
HP: 6 (exactly 6)
Speed: Goes second after Mario. Bro speed = 13
Attacks:
Firebreath: 1 (Fire)

Levels faced at: 1
HPs: 10
BPs: 10 (Useless since there's only one Bro and no Bro Attacks)
Damages:
Jump - 2

Comments: Tutorial fight. Puny.

Fawful 1 (semi-tutorial)
"I am the great Cackletta's most best pupil, who is named Fawful! I am here, laughing at you! If you are giving us the chase just to get your silly princess's voice, then you are idiots of foolishness! Princess Peach's sweet voice will soon be the bread that makes the sandwich of Cackletta's desires! And this battle shall be the delicious mustard on that bread! The mustard of your doom!
Eeeyah ha ha ha ha! Next it is the turn of you!"
... or, for a much shorter quote...
"Fink-rat!!!"
... or... >_>
"Have you readiness for this?!?"
Form 1:
HP: 18 (exactly)
Speed: Last. Bro speed = 16/11. Begins double acting after 12 damage (2/3 HP lost).
Attacks:
Energy Ball: 2/1

"Ooof!
Now is when I ram you!"
Form 2:
HP: 12 (exactly)
Speed: Same as last form minus double acting.
Attacks:
Ram: 2/1

Levels faced at: 2
HPs: 15/17
BPs: 10/11
Damages:
Jump - 2/2

I have fury!
Comments: At least more durable than Bowser. Lives for six and a half turns as opposed to Bowser's three. Crappy speed and no damage can hurt, though roughly two turns of double acting helps out some. 8HKOs Mario without double act, 4HKOs him with it. Possibly a High Light given his durability, though low damage may reduce him to just a Light. Second form kills this.

Shadow Thief Popple 1
"Ooooh! Boo! Blast! Criminy!"
HP: ~101
Speed: Goes first, seemingly insanely fast. Bro speed = 29/19
Attacks:
Tackle - ?/5 (Reflectable)
Steal - Steals item (Reflectable)

Levels faced at: 8/8
HPs: 21/29
BPs: 21/18
Damages:
Jump - 10/11
Hammer - 8/12
Splash Bros - 20
Bounce Bros - 22

Rookie (Bowser) 1
HP: ~126
Speed: Goes second (after Popple), seemingly not much faster than the PCs. Bro speed = 29/19 Always double acts when Popple isn't there.
Attacks:
Hammer Toss*: 4/7
*Hammer Toss can be used at will, but is also used as a counter (the counter is always a double hammer toss) to Popple being hit, and can be done twice (not having to hit the same enemy) after taking ~65 damage (~50% HP lost).
Flamethrower (Triggers after ~83 damage, ~65% HP lost): 8/11 (Fire)

Levels faced at: 8/8
HPs: 21/29
BPs: 21/18
Damages:
Jump - 7/9
Hammer - 6/10
Splash Bros - 15
Bounce Bros - 18

Comments: The duo is one big mess of interp issues. I'll start with Popple. Incredible speed doesn't offset dying on the third turn (unless you don't allow Bro attacks which gives every boss in the game insane durability). Damage is 6HKO, which is just sad. Not sure what to do with Steal. Light. On to "Rookie". HP isn't too much better than Popple's, but much better defense which lets him live to a fourth turn is nice. Lacks Popple's speed, but damage is 4-5HKO BEFORE Flamethrower. Not to mention he doesn't have Popple on his side in the DL so he should (if you allow it) be able to double act. That boosts his Hammer Toss to 3-4HKO and Flamethrower to 3HKO. Obviously not much, but still maybe enough for Middle.

For lack of this form's actual picture:

Fawful 2
"Fink-rat!!!"
HP: 400 (Average-ish)
Note: He stays inside his dome where he is invincible for a few turns until it overheats, which causes him to fly out and be vulnerable. He comes out roughly every 3 turns and goes back in around the second turn of being out.
Speed: Goes first, seems VERY VERY fast.
More info on him to come later.

Comments: Obviously need more info, but for now he sems like at least a High Middle. I recall him having 2HKOish damage, but I'll need to do some testing obviously.
