Final Fantasy S Generation - The Oath (Final Fantasy 8) vs dasaten - Ministry of Sinistry (Lufia 2): Pretty enough, and SSH has totally spoiled me as far as the latter track goes.
Jovette Rivera - Dove L'Amore (Wild Arms) vs Bitplane - Devilish Dream (Perfect Cherry Blossom): A song would have to be really, really bad to lose to that WA2 track. This one doesn't quite qualify.
Final Fantasy Vocal Collections 2 ~ Love Will Grow - Harukanaru Kokyou (Final Fantasy 5) vs Kevin Stephens, trickwaters - Etude for Piano in F# Minor (Fire Emblem 1): Prettier.
Actraiser Symphonic Suite - Birth of the People (Actraiser) vs BrainCells - CutMetal (Megaman 1): Ouch, both are good.
Guilty Gear X Rising Force Of Gear Image Vocal Tracks -Side.II SLASH!!- - Awe of She (Guilty Gear series) vs Magical Trick Society - Phoenix Wright - Objection! 2001 (Phoenix Wright): It's Awe of She. Tremble in fear, other music.
SuperGreenX - Forgotten Daze (Suikoden) vs Genso Suikoden Vocal Collection ~La passione commuove la storia~ - Due Fiumi (Suikoden 2): Both are better than actual suikoden music, though.
AmIEviL - Final Fantasy 3 Death on the Snowfield OC ReMix (Final Fantasy 6) vs CarboHydroM - Excalibur's Awakening (Legend of Zelda)
Wild Arms Vocal Collection alone the world - You'll Never Be Alone No Matter Where You Go (Full size ver.) (Wild Arms 2) vs Dragon Slayer 4 Arrange Album - Item (Dragon Slayer 4): Kinda generic vocal trackish, but it's hard to spoil the core melody.

Final Fantasy S Generation - The Oath (Final Fantasy 8) vs dasaten - Ministry of Sinistry (Lufia 2) - Close match. I enjoyed both of them, so I'll be happy either way.
Jovette Rivera - Dove L'Amore (Wild Arms) vs Bitplane - Devilish Dream (Perfect Cherry Blossom) - I'm not a big fan of the lyrics in the Wild Arms track. Believe it or not, though, it's possible to enjoy a song even if you don't like the lyrics. Shocking, I know.
Final Fantasy Vocal Collections 2 ~ Love Will Grow - Harukanaru Kokyou (Final Fantasy 5) vs Kevin Stephens, trickwaters - Etude for Piano in F# Minor (Fire Emblem 1) - Both are similar, both are pleasant, and neither one deserves to lose in the first round T_T
Actraiser Symphonic Suite - Birth of the People (Actraiser) vs BrainCells - CutMetal (Megaman 1) - Ooooh, very nice. I wouldn't even have known that the Actraiser track was a remix if I hadn't been informed beforehand. This is probably my favorite track of the pool.

Guilty Gear X Rising Force Of Gear Image Vocal Tracks -Side.II SLASH!!- - Awe of She (Guilty Gear series) vs Magical Trick Society - Phoenix Wright - Objection! 2001 (Phoenix Wright) - Who is this "She" person, and why should I be in awe of her? Well, whoever she is, she's repetitive. The Phoenix Wright track is too, I'll admit, but at least it was a bit more pleasant to listen to.
SuperGreenX - Forgotten Daze (Suikoden) vs Genso Suikoden Vocal Collection ~La passione commuove la storia~ - Due Fiumi (Suikoden 2) - I'm voting against SuperGreenX? Weird. I can't really explain this one. I just like the Suikoden 2 track a tiny bit more, I suppose.
AmIEviL - Final Fantasy 3 Death on the Snowfield OC ReMix (Final Fantasy 6) vs CarboHydroM - Excalibur's Awakening (Legend of Zelda) - I love Death on the Snowfield. That's really all there is to it.
Wild Arms Vocal Collection alone the world - You'll Never Be Alone No Matter Where You Go (Full size ver.) (Wild Arms 2) vs Dragon Slayer 4 Arrange Album - Item (Dragon Slayer 4) - Bleh. I thought I'd finally be able to get through an entire pool without feeling apathetic toward any of the matches. Close, but no cigar. Neither of these two tracks does anything for me.

A beautiful rendition of a piece I love.  Ministry of Sinistry will be hard pressed to beat it and...  damn.  That was way better than I expected.  Not good enough to win, but it came close.

Jovette Rivera - Dove L'Amore (Wild Arms) vs Bitplane - Devilish Dream (Perfect Cherry Blossom)
Much like Lance, I don't care much for the vocals, but the base melody is top notch.  As opposed to something that feels slightly off somehow.

Final Fantasy Vocal Collections 2 ~ Love Will Grow - Harukanaru Kokyou (Final Fantasy 5) vs Kevin Stephens, trickwaters - Etude for Piano in F# Minor (Fire Emblem 1)
These are both my noms.  One got placed at slot 14, the other got slot #1.  I'll let you all guess which was which.

Actraiser Symphonic Suite - Birth of the People (Actraiser) vs BrainCells - CutMetal (Megaman 1)
It grew on me and just barely edged out Actraiser.

Guilty Gear X Rising Force Of Gear Image Vocal Tracks -Side.II SLASH!!- - Awe of She (Guilty Gear series) vs Magical Trick Society - Phoenix Wright - Objection! 2001 (Phoenix Wright)
I like the base of Objection better, but...  this remix does nothing for me, allowing Awe of She to barely sneak by.  That said, Holy Orders is better.

SuperGreenX - Forgotten Daze (Suikoden) vs Genso Suikoden Vocal Collection ~La passione commuove la storia~ - Due Fiumi (Suikoden 2)
Very nice match here.  The Suikoden 2 piece is just a bit too sugary for my liking, but otherwise this is a solid pairing and I'll be happy whoever goes on.

AmIEviL - Final Fantasy 3 Death on the Snowfield OC ReMix (Final Fantasy 6) vs CarboHydroM - Excalibur's Awakening (Legend of Zelda)
Fun guitar piece, but this isn't especially close.

Don't see the appeal in the Dragon Slayer piece while the WA track is nice enough.

Guilty Gear X Rising Force Of Gear Image Vocal Tracks -Side.II SLASH!!- - Awe of She (Guilty Gear series) vs Magical Trick Society - Phoenix Wright - Objection! 2001 (Phoenix Wright): Ayup, Awe of She is hard to top. The orchestral Objection! would have a good fight with it, but this not so much.
SuperGreenX - Forgotten Daze (Suikoden) vs Genso Suikoden Vocal Collection ~La passione commuove la storia~ - Due Fiumi (Suikoden 2): Arranged Suikovocals can be lovely, as this one demonstrates. Forgotten Daze is not my style at all.

I think I like the original Oath better, but they're both really good.  Meanwhile, for Ministry of Sinistry..  where's the remix?  I like the original piece already, yes, but I was hoping for a bit more.  Still good, but not going to beat an actual remix.

Don't understand Awe of She hype even a little bit.  It's boring and repetitive.  Meanwhile PW music is quality as always, though I do think the tempo of this remix is a little too laid back.

Jovette Rivera - Dove L'Amore (Wild Arms) vs Bitplane - Devilish Dream (Perfect Cherry Blossom) - Personal bias.  I really like Bitplane's style, although this isn't their best track by any means.  Opposition's not much.

Jovette Rivera - Dove L'Amore (Wild Arms) vs Bitplane - Devilish Dream (Perfect Cherry Blossom) - Man, I hate that first song.  Pretty much an auto-win for anything as far as I'm concerned.  The PCB track is oddly catchy to me, too, despite obvious problems.  Such as the fact that I can't tell what it's remixing until nearly two minutes in.  Of course, once I figured out what it was I realized I really wasn't expecting to hear a remix of this track in the competition, so. <_<
Final Fantasy Vocal Collections 2 ~ Love Will Grow - Harukanaru Kokyou (Final Fantasy 5) vs Kevin Stephens, trickwaters - Etude for Piano in F# Minor (Fire Emblem 1) - I've heard several mixes of the FFV track that were better.  Not that this one is -bad-, but it colors my perception, fairly or no.

The Oath vs Ministry of Sinistry - Both meh.
Dove L'Amore vs Devilish Dream - Dove gets added to the heap of songs with atrocious singing. Dream is servicable, barely.
Harukanaru Kokyou vs Etude for Piano in F# Minor - I never was especially impressed with Etude but it beats HORRIBLE SINGING.
Birth of the People vs CutMetal - Oh good some quality. Do I feel like orchestration or rock currently? Rock for Rock, apparently.
Awe of She vs Objection! 2001 - Well, at least She has a fair voice even if the lyrics do nothing for me ._. Objection bugs me for some reason I cannot determine.
Forgotten Daze vs Due Fiumi - Daze is a decent track for having on in the background, except for the monkey. Can Due manage better status than this? Yes, it gets a rank of Somewhat Approaching Beauty.
Death on the Snowfield vs Excalibur's Awakening - I spend most of Death expecting it to pick up energy, but it didn't... feels like the wrong sort of sound for the sort of energy it had. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's vaguely disconcertening. And I do like me that Zelda theme. Although it's a bit short.
You'll Never Be Alone No Matter Where You Go (Full size ver.) vs Item - Both pretty good. I think Item's just in front? But I'm happy for either of these to move on.
