Help my friend out, would you?
« on: August 01, 2010, 05:47:02 PM »
This is kind of spammy, but whatever, suck it.

Long story short, a friend of mine got in to the Music Institute of Hollywood for drumming.  He's enrolled in a contest to get a full ride scholarship to go there, and probably won't be able to go without it.  The contest works like this:  All contestants have some videos up on the website for users to vote on, and the contestants with the most votes after August 15th are asked to come in and audition for the final round.

Here's his profile page.  He's got two songs up, a drum solo and him playing with his band.  If you like what you hear (and even if you don't >_>), you should vote for him.  I think the guy's pretty good and definitely deserves to get to the next round of the scholarship competition.

Here's his contest page, where you can actually vote for him

You can vote for him once a day up until August 15th.  You have to sign up to vote, but that takes all of 5 minutes.

Thanks in advance for helping him out, unless you don't help him out, in which case you are A TERRIBLE PERSON and you HATE AMERICA.

I am a terrible person, and I already hate America.

What do I have to lose?

I can't sign up because it seems to be rejecting my access code over and over.

What Ciato said.

Definitely a pretty decent drummer, idly.

Yeah, same. The site's got a bit of a problem there.

Huh.  Odd.  I'll ask him about it tomorrow to see what's up.

Try it now?  Apparently a lot of people were getting similar errors.  If you still can't sign up I'll see what's going on.

Contest's still going on.  He's doing pretty well but there's no reason you people shouldn't keep voting!

Oh, yeah, I forgot to update you all.  He got into the top 10 and has already left for California.  I don't know when the auditions are, though.  I'll keep you posted.

He wants to thank everyone who voted and helped him out.  You would have known that, but he mostly did that through Facebook, so I'll pass along the message for him:  Thanks for voting.

EDIT:  His audition is this Friday, so he should know next week.
