The Diving Pokémon hasn't had much luck in the DL. Running into Champions like Lady and Kefka might be some perverse God's idea of a test, straining Lugia's legendary durability to its limit, but perhaps at last Lugia can show off its true worth. Like Lugia, Nanjo is a defensively minded dueller, suited to wearing opponents down with his plentiful healing and nigh-impenetrable magical defenses. However, while Nate's defenses merely block many common attacks, he still takes damage normally against the ones that bypass them. Coupled with Lugia's considerable edge in speed and Nanjo's lacking damage, Lugia will be able to force the helmetted one to burn through his resources considerably faster than the legendary bird, and in a battle between tanks this is the surest path to victory.
