Well guess what, neither of those mean jack and diddly against the dark swordskills of Gaff Gafgarion. The life-draining attack Night Sword is both ranged and unavoidable, neatly sidestepping Guy's primary advantages, while the dark knight's shield gives him the chance to do some evading of his own. Without his precious counters to help him, Guy won't have the time to get in that crucial critical before Night Sword has sapped the last of his life away.
