Ramza and Gogo advance; tiebroken for Gogo due to plurality of votes. Gogo beats Blue beats Heracross beats Gogo so that's a worthless tiebreak, sadly.


Brief commentary: I'm pleased at Meru/Tengaar success despite them not breaking into the finals. Think that Mitsuru/Relm/Serge/Yulie need an upgrade to be competitive, and wondering if Cecil needs to be replaced due to form issues.

Quistis vs. Ramza - Ramza goes in barefisted and does his best DBZ impression. X-Potion heals off any damage he takes before reaching overkill damage/speed.
Quistis vs. Gogo - Too much status for 4 junction slots. Heck, Nightshade would be a win even if she had a Ribbon.

Ramza vs. Gogo - We've seen this before.

Dias vs. Quistis- Still a slaughter.
Dias vs. Sasarai- OHKO
Dias vs. Garet- Don't think garet has enough status that works on Dias.
Dias vs. Ramza- Defense Up should let Ramza get a turn. Ramza should be able to status out Dias from there.
Dias vs. Gogo- More kneejerk speed respect.

Quistis vs. Sasarai- Can chip.
Quistis vs. Garet- Sets up some pyscho Djinn summon chain to blast past a limit range.
Quistis vs. Ramza- SSJ Ramza works for me.
Quistis vs. Gogo- Status.

Sasarai vs. Garet- Think magic reflect is enough?
Sasarai vs. Ramza- Kneejerk.
Sasarai vs. Gogo- Sleep---ID.

Garet vs. Ramza- Walls status.
Garet vs. Gogo- Garet's status options aren't great.
Ramza vs. Gogo- Think Ramza OHKOs Gogo with a good enough charge, and he gets enough time with that thanks to an Aegis Shield.

Dias vs. Sasarai - Sas just sleeps Dias right, or does some other kind of fast status?  Actually killing might be tricky, Breath of Ice is awful damage and Dias resists most other elements and also Pale Gate ID...  I'll assume that there's something that can pull a magical OHKO afterward.

Quistis vs. Gogo - FF8 didn't have a Transform status, right?  Sour Mouth / Bad Breath's Imp does the job then.  (No Rage hype from me.)

Sasarai vs. Ramza - Uh no idea.  Leaning Ramza?  Can block a bunch of statuses, Aegis Shield, probably should have no trouble 2HKOing Sas and keeping him on his backfoot.

Dias vs. Quistis - Well, if there's one thing that ARPG characters are decent at, it's damage control. Chips around the limit, and even if takes a while, Quistis damage isn't scary without the limit.
Dias vs. Sasarai - Speedy enough to OHKO.
Dias vs. Garet - Garet may have an argument if you don't allow Dias to block both PAralyze and Stun with the same equips? But... Hmm. Think Dias can nearly null Earth and Fire, so it's probably still his match.
Dias vs. Ramza - Broken character is broken.
Dias vs. Gogo - Dias is fast enough to OHKO.

Quistis vs. Sasarai - If he tries to chip, Quistis might just get him with her physical. If he goes for the blitz, it's Degenerator time, laughing at Yellow Scarf.
Quistis vs. Garet - Statuses her first. GS Stun is pretty good. Don't think she can block that?
Quistis vs. Ramza - Go away Ramza.
Quistis vs. Gogo - Gogo can status her first, but I'm not sure he has anything that'll take her out? Air Anchor maybe? But Quisty can block Death (and Confuse, too, but Confuse lets her hit herself out of it and closer to the yummy limit, so why bother?). Limit eventually happens, Gogo is sad.

Sasarai vs. Garet - Garet uses the Half-Damage Received Unleash and Sasarai has trouble. Garet can't status out Sasarai, but Sasarai is pretty frail and Garet resists his best damage on top of the Halving. I think Garet tanks Sasarai's attempts at damage and 2HKOs him with the Fire physical.
Sasarai vs. Ramza - Get out Ramza.
Sasarai vs. Gogo - OHKOs.

Garet vs. Ramza - DIAF Ramza.
Garet vs. Gogo - Faster, somehow. Confuse loop or Air Anchor is enough here. Don't think Garet can quite OHKO.
Ramza vs. Gogo - Die in obscurity Ramza.
