Alys' death scene (Phantasy Star 4) vs. Final Boss Plot Fight (Persona 4) - There are a bunch of scenes in P4 that are awesome (when the PCs decide Namatame's judgment, for example), this isn't one of my favorites. However, still had more impact than Alys' death, for all that Rika's reaction was pretty good.

STYLE:
Clive verbally owns Melody (Wild ARMS 3) vs. Men Of The Sea (Xenogears) - Could've worked in humor, too. Possibly the most memorable part of Xenogears that doesn't involve CHU-CHU DIED FOR YOUR SINS.

Anyway, Alys' death scene made me a bit misty, so it's quite capable of winning this match.

Intro (Shadow Hearts) vs. Opening Sequence (Shadow Hearts 3): SH1 opening I don't especially like. It just feels like it's trying too hard, and the bad VA and facial animations make it ridiculous. SH3... pretty effective visuals.

SUPER TAUNT (Street Fighter 4) vs. Horse Weiner?! (Disgaea): Horse weiner scene made me facepalm. Dan makes me smile.
Guy's Super Move (Naruto: Clash of the Ninja series) vs. Cauldron owns Marona haters (Phantom Brave): I remember most everyone cracking up at the former at DLcon, myself included. It's just so out there. HUGGED TO DEATH yes I'm sure there are logical explanations but whatever. On the other hand, didn't find the other scene especially funny at all. Definitely expected better from N1, humour is what they have going for them!

Lenneth's breakdown in A Ending (Valkyrie Profile) vs. Caim and Angelus's cremation (Drakhengard 2)- Having read up on Drakhengard 1's plot, I can't help but think Caim and his dragon dying is a happy occasion, not the tragedy this scene makes it out as!  (Also Lenneth's scene is my nom, but I feel like it needed to be said.)
Alys' death scene (Phantasy Star 4) vs. Final Boss Plot Fight (Persona 4)- Serious answer: man, I didn't remember the Alys death scene working that well, honesty.  It's probably the best serious bit of storytelling that was made up to that point and in that era.  And then we have the Persona 4 scene and remember just how much technology improved in the span of 12 or so years.  Just Rise's lines have more emotional impact than the entire sequence from PSIV, and that ignores the blending of story and gameplay mechanics during the Thousand Curses, the symbolic value of casting aside the glasses, etc etc Nanako is awesome.

Clive verbally owns Melody (Wild ARMS 3) vs. Men Of The Sea (Xenogears)- Maaaybe it's jsut me, but I think burns lose some of their spark when you're as wordy about it as Clive.  Men.  of.  the Sea!  of course is Xenogears and worth all sorts of bonus points as such.
Intro (Shadow Hearts) vs. Opening Sequence (Shadow Hearts 3)- Hmmm.  SH1 has a lot of stuff that screams dated about it, and certainly SH3 has superior music, use of technology, and Shania's first fusion has a definite style to it by itself.  But... I dunno.  Nostalgia maybe?  SH1 makes me smile.

HUMOR:
SUPER TAUNT (Street Fighter 4) vs. Horse Weiner?! (Disgaea)- While I can appreciate that the Horse Weiner thing was probably meant to be a "we'll just be so shameless it loops back around to funny", honestly I don't think they went far enough for that.  It sits dead in the zone of immaturity where humor stops existing for me.  Super Taunt's pretty sweet meanwhile.
Guy's Hug of Death (Naruto Clash of Ninja 4) vs. Cauldron owns Marona haters (Phantom Brave)- EDIT!  Hmmmmmmm.  On the one hand, Guy has that sort of out of nowhere BAM HUG BY SUNSET quality, as well as the communal DLCon memories factor.  On the other, Cauldron on the whole is fun and the contrast to the bits of Phantom Brave preceding this is awesome.  Hm.  Eh, sure.
