I...find myself suddenly incapable of joining the RPGDL IRC chat via the normal methods.  Is there an issue with the chat, or would the problem be more with my computer or IRC client?

I would appreciate any form of assistance I could get on dealing with this.

...yeah.  mIRC either dislikes this computer, I'm doing something wrong, or there's some sort of firewall issue blocking the connection, because god-knows-how-much waiting will not make this problem go away.

When I type in a /join command, or any other / command that would be relevant and actually be executed, the program acts as if there was no command ever issued; I'm connected to the server, but I can't join any rooms or do anything.  Note that if I input an invalid command, it will recognize it as such (such as if I put /join, rather than /join #rpgdl).  I have no idea what to do, honestly...

Unfortunately, since I do not have a computer to call my own, I am thereby forced to use my mother's computer.  Thus meaning I cannot alter settings, or deal with the fact that she just switched a better browser out for a worse one.

And no, waiting hasn't helped.  So, were it possible for someone to help, it would be greatly appreciated...

Reinstalling: Yes.  Even installing a later version.  Still doesn't work

Alternate client: Soulriders lets me join #rpgdl and only #rpgdl.  And doesn't work with either of the current browsers.  Haven't downloaded any alternates yet.

Error messages: When I log in, it gives me the following before all of the server-specific stuff:

'No ident response; username prefixed with ~'

I get that too, doesn't stop me from doing anything. And no error messages when you try to join...huh.

Yeah.  None at all.  If I put in something wrong, I get an error message, but if I put in a proper join command, it's as if it ignores it.

If you use Firefox, try getting the Chatzilla add-on.  It kinda sucks, but it's at least a functional IRC client.  It's what I'm stuck with at the moment.

Also, if you have trouble connecting with it, when joining the server try /server 66.252.25.250 instead of a name.  That's how I have to connect, not sure if it's because of Chatzilla or the stupid software I'm dealing with.

Just tried Chatzilla.  It works...until I try to join a room--at which point, it seems to give me an empty room regardless of which one it is.  Yes, even for #rpgdl.  Searching for any channel seems to result in failure, as whenever I try, I get an empty list...

I hate this computer.

Try this thing.  To lazy to link to real site.  Haven't used it myself, but mc swears by it (and I will be installing it on my laptop when I get Linux back on it), so it can't be all bad.

Right.  I seem to still have the same problems, even on a new computer, so this is obviously some sort of malicious outside influence related to IP keeping me from joining channels on Dejatoons.
