Heavy

Wren (Phantasy Star IV) vs Queen Zeal (Chrono Trigger)- Fuck me. This happened in the DL and I don't remember how I voted. Abstain for now.

Yuna (Final Fantasy X) vs Loki (Valkyrie Profile): Yuna goes first and...well, you know the rest.

Heavy

Wren (Phantasy Star IV) vs Queen Zeal (Chrono Trigger): MP Buster does nothing to Wren's Techs, so...yeah, he's got nothing to fear here.

Middle

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII) vs Snow Villiers (Final Fantasy XIII): I could go into an elaborate explanation of how Sentinel owns Tifa slowly, but in truth, its an FF13 PC vs. a Limit character, which usually doesn't end well.
Lilina (Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals) vs Cornet Espoir (Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure): Kneejerk.

Yuna (Final Fantasy X) vs Loki (Valkyrie Profile)
Protect -> Heal a bunch until double -> Shell (why not, despite absorbing most elements already) -> Grand Summon works.

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII) vs Snow Villiers (Final Fantasy XIII)
More Sentinel stalling -> Summon.  It is kind of obscure that you actually increase the TP gauge in battle but oh well, if it happens, it works.

I will have to recheck on the TP thing but Tifa can be provoked right? So some combination of Provoke/Challenge and Entrench/Vendetta with Mediguard for the healz should still work :)

According to the stat topic, Snow can deal (crappy) damage without needing to be attacked using Entrench?

Alternately, like CT said, Tifa doesn't immune Provoke

Wren (Phantasy Star IV) vs Queen Zeal (Chrono Trigger) - Bah
Domon Kasshu (Super Robot Taisen Series) vs Viese Blanchimont (Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny) - SRT

Middle

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII) vs Snow Villiers (Final Fantasy XIII) - Tifa's only chance is to OHKO through Sentinel with a fully-charged Premium Heart L4 Limit. Even with starting Limit Meter, that just means that Snow has to chip around a 7% mHP Limit... >.>;; I think he can handle it.
Lilina (Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals) vs Cornet Espoir (Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure)

Light

Fee (Atelier Iris 2: Eternal Mana) vs Filo (Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings) - Even with the typing advantage, I think Filo's extremely crappy stats sink her.
Bibarel (Pokémon) vs Lassi (Magical Starsign)

Snow doesn't even get TP by being attacked.  He gets TP by acting himself.

No, it shouldn't, unless you're being uncannily generous to Queen Zeal's MP busting. PS4 MP and skill charges are -clearly- distinct resources - and with distinct advantages and drawbacks - and that distinction shouldn't be just thrown away when PS4 clearly has a MP resource that Zeal already hits.

Zeal also hits all MP-like resources in game (of which, granted there is one). Attacker's definition goes with Zeal getting all non-free actions. The spirit of the move would definitely seem to get both types of PS 4 resources. This isn't generous to Zeal so much as reflecting what MP Buster gets in game.

It's not PS4's fault that CT doesn't differentiate PC resources, and you can't tell in CT whether MP Buster would kill both resources if it had two separate resource pools. I wouldn't feel inclined to give the interp tiebreak to the game with the less extensive mechanics systems. I also had a tangent of skills in PS4 not being affected by Silence in the sense that Silence in both games shut down MP-using resources, but it makes no sense now that I try to put it into words.

I wouldn't take "More complicated mechanics" as a tie-breaker over "Attacker's Definition." Zeal's MP Busting gets all-resource based items in game, so it logically makes sense to extend that to any other resource typing if theoretically introduced into CT or else it would be saying that in a theoretical situation, the move should just lose about half it's potency. Of course, some skill types can get around this by being free (FF 6 comes to mind).

Yeah, I even get that. But then, your reasoning reminds me why I don't like blanket doing attacker's definition in the first place, and end up privileging defender's definition more often than not.

Does that mean that you also take defender's definition of status?

I take "arbitrary definition" of status in that I apply defender stats or pure base mdef for status - remember how I loathe statuses not checking against anything ever just because the enemy's game system doesn't have the specific resistance system used by the other guy and lolololol free pass.

Do what I do and apply attacker's definition and if there's ambiguity/no stat check go to defender's definition.

I do have to weigh in that in the specific case of MP busting, I would tiebreak for the view that makes it less effective if it comes from a game in which MP is easily restored by storebought items anyway! MP restoration is rare as hell to be DL-legal, but it's NOT so in-game, and thus MP Buster is not a terribly dangerous move because you just toss an Elixir and go about your merry way. I feel the same way about Shadow Hearts MP attacks. They're already inflated in the DL, no need to tiebreak and have them hit resources they don't even explicitly get in-game!

Godlike

Yuna (Final Fantasy X) vs Loki (Valkyrie Profile): Yup.
Zophar (Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete) vs Adramelk (Laggy Fantasy Tactics): Barely manages the OHKO to me.

Heavy

Wren (Phantasy Star IV) vs Queen Zeal (Chrono Trigger): Replaying CT has increased my respect for her speed (don't hold Panel charms against her, enemies in CT are faster than stats indicate) but decreased my respect for her HP. Not sure where that leaves her here. If she doubles below half HP she wins (screw this MP Buster nonsense, Hallation + poke ftw). Still, Wren can just wait for a chance where he can blitz Zeal through a lack of doubles (i.e. lower her below half HP just after a double) and Zeal's below half HP phase just doesn't last that long, so yeah. I do let Zeal counter MT these days but it's not enough.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

Zophar (Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete) vs Adramelk (Laggy Fantasy Tactics)- No vote.

Heavy

Wren (Phantasy Star IV) vs Queen Zeal (Chrono Trigger)
Domon Kasshu (Super Robot Taisen Series) vs Viese Blanchimont (Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny)- Hey, someone wall+absurd evade can't stall.  Uh, so anyway even supposing that Viese's items checked his evade and gave Domon a fighting chance at his maximum damage output (That's Spiritx3, stall for 10 Will, Valor+Sekiha Tenkyo-God Finger) he's onlyu doing in the neighborhood of 75-80% damage, while Viese's durability is closer to 85-90%.
I'm really weirded out at how badass Viese is turning out in this thing.

Middle

Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII) vs Snow Villiers (Final Fantasy XIII)- No vote.
Lilina (Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals) vs Cornet Espoir (Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure)

Light

Fee (Atelier Iris 2: Eternal Mana) vs Filo (Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings)- Hm.  Melee resists suggests Fee needs 3 bars to kill here, sending the match to turn 5.  In that time, Filo can actually put together lethal damage.  So there ya go.
Bibarel (Pokémon) vs Lassi (Magical Starsign)- No vote.
