Voting form: Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure vs Persona 4- Solid vs one of my favorites.
Wild ARMs 3 vs Atelier Iris 2- Tempted to vote for WA3 for the awesome matchup next round, but nah.
Ys 7 vs Tactics Ogre PSP- Not a giant Y's fan.
Wild ARMs XF vs Final Fantasy 8

NES bonus round 1:

Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2- Castlevania music is always good, and CV1's no exception.
Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3- Wily 2 is great but MM2's OST is better overall.

Wild ARMs 3 vs Atelier Iris 2: AI2's decent though, but WA3's a favourite.
Wild ARMs XF vs Final Fantasy 8: I'm honestly kinda pissed off FF8 is even here.

Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2: Vampire Killer's pretty cool. Actually CV1 has a better sound than I recall in general, NG2's okay.
Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3: Heatman's stage? Interesting choice. Anyway, I feel the opposite of Super here, Wily 1 from MM2 beats down every individual track in MM3 (and pretty much on the NES period) but MM3 has more overall quality, Wily 2/Magnet/Spark/Snake are probably all better than the second best MM2 track.

WAXF's cause would be helped if it had some big fantastic event music like Liberi Fatali or Premonition, but it doesn't really.  Consistent but lacks standouts - the more I think about it, the more I think that the town theme nommed might be the closest, though.

NES bonus round 1:

Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2
Honestly C1's music is not all THAT great.  Vampire Killer gets better in some later iterations.  But Wicked Child is good, and it's > NG2 soundtrack it seems.

Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3
Yeah, more consistently good, for all that MM2 Wily 1 is fantastic.

Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3: I'm generally more of a fan of that one stand-out track when I remember something.  3 is overall better, but Wily 1 is just so, so much better and more memorable and it gets my vote.

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure vs Persona 4 - Poor Hatsworth ;_;.  Very good, just...yeah.  Not up to P4's level here. 

Wild ARMs 3 vs Atelier Iris 2 - Both are great, but WA3's OST captures that Western feel so well it's hard to ignore the sheer power of the fit there.

Ys 7 vs Tactics Ogre PSP - Apathy overall.  Both fitting, as per the rules of the contest.  Both decent instrumentation.  Just not a huge amount of passion from my side.

Wild ARMs XF vs Final Fantasy 8 - I do think FF8 works for the most part.  Unfortunately, there are times it does not work, and when it doesn't, it's kind of blah.  XF does not have this problem.


Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2 - More Ninja-ey than Castlevania is Castle-y.  Both are awesome and fitting. 

Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3 - Always liked MM3 more than MM2 - overall more variety, more polished sound, etc.  MM2 has one or two songs I like...but not more than MM3.  Honestly think MM3's intro is better than MM2's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiQgYfyUdDs), although this is the one thing MM2 might do better than MM3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Ao63nmzuE&feature=related).  Other awesome MM3 music: Ending Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uikEuigprFE), Wily Stage Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jj5-vZa1OQ), Stage Select (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBLltNXQ37U&feature=related).

Either one is fine. I said in the last round that Wild Arms 3 has the best soundtrack in the WA series, but even so, I think it's still a bit overrated. Atelier Iris 2 doesn't have that problem, so I suppose that acts as a suitable tiebreaker.

Ys 7 vs Tactics Ogre PSP
It's tough to top Ys music, but I'll side with Tactics Ogre for now.

Wild ARMs XF vs Final Fantasy 8
Wild Arms XF does have some good music, but I prefer FF VIII a little more overall.


NES Bonus Round 1:

Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2
Ninja Gaiden 2 is a worthy adversary, but OG Castlevania is just too good.

Mega Man 2 vs Mega Man 3
MM3 is probably better overall, but I find that MM2's tracks are more memorable. They stay in my head a bit longer.

Persona 4 - Better stuff overall
Wild ARMs 3 vs Atelier Iris 2 - Abstain. Can't reach a conclusion within myself on this.
Ys 7 - Felt a little disappointed by TO actually. There is a lack of character compare to what Sakimoto had done recently.
Final Fantasy 8 - XF actually have more tracks that I like individually. But FF8's track actually carry out the game a lot more.

NES bonus round 1:

Castlevania vs Ninja Gaiden 2 - Castlevania is very good and has several steller tracks. The same can be said of Ninja Gaiden 2, to the point where I feel it's a judgment call. Ultimately, I listen to more Castlevania than NG2;  despite having more tracks, NG2's average track quality feels lower to me.
Megaman 2 vs Megaman 3 - Doctor Wily's 3/4 stage is incredible and hideously unappreciated. On the other hand, most of the other MM3 music can't match the sheer brilliance of MM2's OST. So yeah, MM2 wins.
