Godlike:

Cidolfas Orlandu (FFT) vs Genevieve (VP1)- Aegis/White Rose handles business well enough here. OR: Round 4 of Cid beating Godlike down.

Heavy:

Rolf Landale (PS2) vs Arngrim (VP1)

Middle:

Cristo (DQ4) vs Balk Fenzol (FFT)- Cristo can't resist thunder, his defensive tricks do nothing and he has serious issues dealing with Balk's 'regen'.

Light:

Nina (BoF2) vs Grey (VP1)- ID.

Necron, Asgard, Rose, Altima, Rolf, Arngrim

Rolf: 5-0
Asgard: 3-1
Altima: 3-1
Necron: 2-3
Rose: 1-4
Arngrim: 0-5

Ugh to this. Rose is pretty bad as a heavy, let alone a Godlike. She IDs Arngrim at least! Necron beats Rose/Arngrim thanks to them being inept at first turn damage. Rose may well not 2HKO Necron, which is a factory of sadness. Altima beats the scrub PC's and outslugs Necron. Altima/Asgard is a slapfight that makes Asgard's gravity matter, so pass. Rolf cleans house with Megid and loses without it.

Emeralda, Ramsus, Vahn, Ramladu, Cristo, Balk

Cristo: 4-1
Emmy: 4-1
Balk: 3-2
Vahn: 3-2
Ramladu: 0-4
Ramsus: 0-4

Cristo beats everyone but Balk offhand. He can't resist thunder elemental damage and has serious issues getting around Balk's regen. (.............). His status and buffnig is useless there to boot.  Emmy outslugs everyone but Cristo. Balk gets torched by Vahn's summon and beats the loser boss duo. Ramladu/Ramsus doesn't matter so I'm not really thinking about it.

Dekar, Squall, Nina4, Lucca, Nina2, Grey

Dekar: 4-1
Nina2: 4-1
Nina4: 3-2
Grey: 3-2
Squall: 1-4
Lucca: 0-5

Dekar outslugs Squall and Grey easily enough, he's in his element against physical sluggers. Nina4 eats a OHKO eventually and Lucca's status can annoy him but can't really cripple him in time. Nina2 ID whores Dekar ( And everyone else) down but loses to Nina4. Nina4 loses to Dekar and Grey's anti limit stuff and beats the rest. Grey's limit is better than Squall's and he crushes Lucca. Squall goes first, which should be enough against Lucca.

Godlike:

Cidolfas Orlandu (FFT) vs Genevieve (VP1): Should survive a turn, which is all he has to do.

Middle:

Cristo (DQ4) vs Balk Fenzol (FFT): Don't Act, on top of everything Super said. Gives Balk three turns in a row (it lasts 23 clockticks which is how long it takes for Balk to get 3 turns almost exactly) and this certainly kill Cristo... y'know I've been underrating Balk some, that's kind of a turn 2 win against most who don't resist lightning, and he's very fast. Lots of Middles need to OHKO him or die, and these days while my opinion of many FFT boss durabilities are down, my respect for Balk durability is up.

Light:

Nina (BoF2) vs Grey (VP1): Death.

H/G pool: Necron > Altima > Rose > Asgard > Arngrim

Necron sweeps, obviously, four turns a round smash. Altima beats everyone else (note to super: Asgard doesn't have gravity, he has a move that gets weaker the worse his -own- HP gets, and is only 2x Eliminate Scanner at base, so with your WA3 boss respect it should be pretty bad!). Rose beats Asgard because going first cuts into Barrier Storm and Astral Drain should keep her afloat as his damage gets worse and worse. Arngrim gets IDed twice.

Both Heavies stay down. If Rolf gets overlevelled skills then Asgard drops as well. Rose somehow stays in Godlike and Altima isn't even challenged, haha at this pool.

M/H Pool: Emeralda, Ramsus, Ramladu, Cristo, Balk

Cristo handles Emeralda with ID and Ramladu with Upper, but can't hit Ramsus and loses to Balk. 2-2
Emeralda... faces decent challenges from both SRPG bosses but kneejerk says her durability is enough to handle both. Has magic for Ramsus. 3-1
Ramsus uses Mirror Stance to beat Ramladu and Cristo. 2-2
Balk has magic for Mirror Stance (though... eh, it does get owned by Blade Grasp? Nah, kneejerk says Mirror Stance is more evady than that). 2-2
Ramladu outslugs Balk. 1-3

Vahn existing gives Cristo an extra win to break the tie there, so it's Ramladu and Ramsus down as the Middles go up. Ramladu is a pretty scary Middle in SF1o! I might be underrating him in which case he'd beat Emeralda and it'd be Balk who stays down instead.

L/M Pool: Dekar ~= Nina4 ~= Nina2 play rock/paper/scissors as the strong Middles, while Squall > Grey > Lucca for the rest. (Grey isn't especially durable, so Squall 2HKOs him soundly.)

Nina2 up, Lucca down. No shock.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

Cidolfas Orlandu (FFT) vs Genevieve (VP1) - Gen wants Loki pdur.

Rolf Landale (PS2) vs Arngrim (VP1) - You know, even though Megidless Rolf -does- lose to Wren, he's probably still a pretty capable Heavy (not champion-level or anything, but not bad). Lower averages all in all and him holistically deserving a level advantage over most of the cast to boot would mean he at worst has 2HKOs to both defenses off very solid slugfesting stats. That'd be likely to work well against Demi, who he'd hit weakness against with his best damage (lol ohko) or heal-locking with a physical if he's slightly slower... and, of course, a decent faster magical 2HKO (137%, roughly?) works against Arngrim.

Cristo (DQ4) vs Balk Fenzol (FFT) - Heh.

Nina Wyndia (BoF2) vs Grey (VP1) - Gooooooooooodbye.

Pools laters.

In a separate post because fun.

Necron, Rose, Asgard, Altima, Rolf, Arngrim

Tempted to hand Necron its full quadraturning in a duel anyway, just limiting the skillset. Which eh. 55k FF9 HP's still pretty bad, he's like 0.75x PC HP to me off below average speed... which pretty much doesn't matter in this pool, since even Rolf misses that much damage turn one and Necron just smashes everything. Go him. So, let's move on to Altima, who sweeps non-Necron people, not much to see here. Then, Rose. She beats Asgard (...) because of reasons explained by the elves, while Arngrim eats ID. Rolf... beats her, faster and 2HKOs, he already manages Arngrim. On the other hand, he loses to Asgard (misses the 2HKO, ID should be turn two). For similar reasons, Arngrim also fails against Asgard and goes swept. So, we have:

Necron: 5-0
Altima: 4-1
Rolf: 2-3
Rose: 2-3
Asgard: 2-3
Arngrim: 0-5

Arngrim stays down. Past that, this is crazy.

Emeralda, Ramsus, Vahn, Ramladu, Cristo, Balk

oh goody having to figure out lol1 damage averages. I'll kneejerk averages as somewhere in 2.6k (a charge, miracle art and lolmajeeks should amount to roughly that much in three-turns and averages are hellishly tight in the game. To make matters worse, the loss in damage from arts that need charge and that don't is -crazy-, usually at least as much as 2x). So. Vahn's big magic damage burst doesn't even deal 70% to average mdur. More than enough to handle Ramsus of the sub-half PC HP, though. Not enough, however, to handle Balk and his MDef UP+Feather Mantle on average, nor Ramladu and his 2/3 elemental reduction. Balk manages Vahn mostly by Don't Act spam, though, while Ramladu just OHKOs. Cristo owns him and then, Emeralda... to even entertain the idea of two-rounding Emmy, Vahn needs a fully charged bar - which takes a Spirit turn. And Emmy is faster and 3HKOs. Gooooooooodbye.

Okay, now for the actually competent people: Ramladu largely plays the OHKO games all day, except against Cristo, who still gets owned. Ram's regen kinda sucks in practice (25% mHP, but you typically like 4HKO him in-game and you have huge numbers), but Cristo damage is so bad he can't actually punch through it very effectively and he likely still takes damage even after Kabuffing twice (that offense is nuts, 1.1x PC HP against -endgame- HP figures, which are higher than what he actually faces). So, it's pretty much waiting for timely crits/doubles and laughing. Balk's evade can give some trouble and it's his hope against Ramladu, but he hates the elemental resistance and one hit of the mace is game over. Everybody else just dies without being able to kill first... except RAMSUS, because Mirror Stance goes first. Fail. Then, Emmy: Balk vs. Emmy is kinda mirror-matchy, but the caveat lies in that he evades her attacks and she doesn't evade his... on the other hand, she probably 2HKOs him and is accurate, and he could get low-variance Bolt shots, lowering him to a 4HKO in extreme cases, and he can never 2HKO her back even with high variance rolls throughout. So, eh, vote for her. Ramsus dies to her magic (...). Cristo, on the other hand, just Buffs and IDs. Now, for Balk: he already beat Cristo, Emmy and Vahn. And got OHKOed by Ramladu. Welp, that leaves Ramsus, whose argument based on Blade Grasp doesn't sway me, especially considering Mirror Stance doesn't handle even AP-stored Deathblows. So, this leaves Ramsus vs. Cristo... and Cristo goes first, thwacks and wins by default to me, on virtue of doing more damage if Ramsus spams MS and just outlasts otherwise. Failure.

Ramladu: 4-1
Balk: 3-2
Emeralda: 3-2
Cristo: 3-2
Vahn: 1-4
Ramsus: 1-4

Vahn and Ramsus down. Have fun figuring which of Balk and Cristo go up, maybe both.

Dekar, Squall, Nina4, Lucca, Nina2, Grey

Dekar > Nina4 > Nina2 > Dekar for weapon triangle games in this pool, and they otherwise mangle all. Squall 2HKOs Grey and does it first, does the same to Lucca and Grey also 2HKOs Lucca before she does much of anything.

Dekar: 4-1
Nina4: 4-1
Nina2: 4-1
Squall: 2-3
Grey: 1-4
Lucca: 0-5

Nina2 goes up while Lucca downgrades to instill unmitigated terror in Light.
