Elena (FF7) vs Knight (FF5) - Well, Elena 4HKOs Knight even with the initiative wrist slap -before- Knight's modest evasion and she gets 2HKOed back. So, her best bet is... Confuse, which is likely turn two and can backfire horribly on her. She's faster, but I don't think this works out on average for her.
Elena vs Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - Well, opening plink+physical force Zhuzhen to heal right off the bat, but Confuse, IIRC, is out. And she doesn't 2HKO Zhuzhen after the opener either. Yeah, that's not good.
Elena vs Yangus (DQ8) - Oh good lord, Yangus misses the 3HKO by a hair and gets 3HKOed in return. That's just pathetic.
Elena vs Miranda (G3) - Huh, looks like Miranda 2HKOs Elena with Tremor according to the notes we have... but she's also slower if she goes that route. Depends on how solid I see that 2HKO, but OK's numbers on Miranda are just so old (and, going by them, I'm not sure Miranda is a Light to begin with) that I'd like to see some Dhyer tech on this. Abstain, and likely abstaining on Miranda in general.
Elena vs Adray Lasbard (SO3) - Good lord, Adray's damage is atrocious. He barely 4HKOs Elena and most of his tricks don't work too well. She also effectively 2HKOs him at the start, though she can't maintain that past the first turn. Still, it's enough pressure to keep him sorta busy... but Protection/Angel Feather/SOME BUFF might do the trick here, since it doesn't need to be a terribly potent boost to stave off the initial 2HKO. Confusion is a problem, but Elena doesn't capitalize on it too well and it's likely not accurate enough, Adray has so much in the way of resources.
Elena vs Viktor (Suikos) - Viktor actually 2HKOs Elena on average. Yeah, I guess.
Elena vs Randi (SoM) - Same thing as before: Elena 3HKOs and isn't 2HKOed back. In Light, that initiative plink actually saves her ass rather often.
Elena vs Janus (VP1) - As seen above. Evade could buy Janus a turn or two, but his damage is pretty underwhelming.
Elena vs Nidoqueen (RBY) - And once again, that 3HKO. Nidoqueen can slow it down to a degree with Growl, but it doesn't really -solve- anything, since she's slower and 3HKOs back.
Elena vs Monk (FFT) - Well, Hamedo is a nice way to spoil Elena's main offensive tool. Monk can give up damage to block Confuse too, but not sure how much he wants to, given how it cuts into his damage pretty considerably.
4-5. Well, Elena's durability's bad (roughly 2/3 PC HP) and her trick isn't good for much, but 3HKOing off above average speed looks pretty good in Light, especially when her initiative move lets her scrape a 2HKO on the fragile and guarantee 3HKOs on people with decent pdur. Doesn't do much of anything in Middle, but is a terror in the lowest division.
Chidori Yoshino (Pers3) vs Knight (FF5) - OHKOs.
Chidori Yoshino vs Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - As if Zhuzhen being a mage with non-fire options wasn't enough, all of Chidori's other tricks get walled by Zhuzhen in one way or another. That's just insulting.
Chidori Yoshino vs Yangus (DQ8) - Remember how Gambit could possibly hand Garr a win against Chidori, but it was too inaccurate to matter? Yeah, Yangus' version of this is twice as accurate and OHKOs Chidori more solidly than Beast Spear.
Chidori Yoshino vs Miranda (G3) - Magic. I know I said I'd abstain on Miranda in general, but Chidori's pretty clearcut when she's facing magical damage that registers on the damage curve.
Chidori Yoshino vs Adray Lasbard (SO3) - In spite of failing to 2HKO Chidori, Adray doesn't have much to fear.
Chidori Yoshino vs Viktor (Suikos) - Viktor's -average- damage does OHKO Chidori, but he doesn't crit turn one on average. So yeah.
Chidori Yoshino vs Randi (SoM) - A L4 charge OHKOs Chidori and that comes up before she gets a second turn. Tough luck.
Chidori Yoshino vs Janus (VP1) - Janus chip-3HKOs away from Tetrakarn range. I forgot about that!
Chidori Yoshino vs Nidoqueen (RBY) - I -think-? Chidori gets two turns minimum (average speed after the first turn, Nidoqueen's below average), but two Leers => Body Slam = guaranteed KO. Hell, even one may be enough. And one single Marin Karin string shouldn't be enough to keep Nidoqueen from finishing the job.
Chidori Yoshino vs Monk (FFT) - Scrapes the OHKO. Good thing too, since the fight would be otherwise embarrassing.
1-9. Chidori is fascinatingly bad. A bunch of limit range-reliant tricks running off OHKOed by average durability and last strike, fire spoiling and minor regen. Slugfesting power is shit, but ultimately irrelevant in the range within which she wins matches. So yeah, she may not be Puny by virtue of how bizarre her skillset is, but good lord she makes a hell of a case.
Malak Galtanna (FFT) vs Knight (FF5) - Knight isn't exactly the build Malak thrives against.
Malak Galtanna vs Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - I think? Zhuzhen's damage isn't great to begin with and it suffers even more against Malak mdef. His status against that Faith also gets no credit from me.
Malak Galtanna vs Yangus (DQ8) - Oy. Yangus' offense is just dreadful, but I SUPPOSE he could try to gamble for crit spamming with Malak vying for the parasitic healing game. Two crits in a row are actually dangerous due to how unreliable the healing can be and I tend not to give Malak the benefit of doubt when playing the numbers game for a long time. Still, could go either way. Helps that Malak has to sacrifice some offense for ID blocking here.
Malak Galtanna vs Adray Lasbard (SO3) - I suspect Adray lands Freeze earlier than Malak lands Innocence.
Malak Galtanna vs Viktor (Suikos) - Iunno, Viktor's average damage is actually pretty solid and his durability against Untruth looks pretty good. I think that's enough to deal with Malak.
Malak Galtanna vs Randi (SoM) - Charge until the world ends and unleash hell, I suppose.
Malak Galtanna vs Janus (VP1) - EDIT: Janus damage be spiky, but also be bad. Holy hell, his PWS turn deals -average damage- under the most generous average. That doesn't even 2HKO Malak.
Malak Galtanna vs Nidoqueen (RBY)- Uh, Malak hits weakness with Sky Demon Back, which also happens to be his parasitic healing. This risks being kinda ugly.
Malak Galtanna vs Monk (FFT) - I'll bite.
3-6. Also bad in very strange ways. This field exploits his shitty pdur and slow-going, RNG-laden game pretty badly, to boot.
Knoll (FE8) vs Knight (FF5) - So, Knight can't OHKO Knoll. This pretty much dooms him to eat it to Nosferatu.
Knoll vs Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - The mdur and Nosferatu are bad news for Zhuzhen. He can avoid counters, but it barely even matters.
Knoll vs Yangus (DQ8) - I don't think Yangus quite gets 3-2'd here? Iunno, the ID does avoid counters at least, and should hit turn two on average. Since Knoll 3HKOs...
Knoll vs Adray Lasbard (SO3) - Doubling with Ice Needles is kinda ugly, for all that Adray has to play carefully here.
Knoll vs Viktor (Suikos) - A crit should land before Viktor bites it, particularly with Knoll's egregious Luck.
Knoll vs Randi (SoM) - Randi can't OHKO even with a L6 charge. There's a chance the crit rate saves him, but just not good enough.
Knoll vs Janus (VP1) - Janus damage be real bad, guys. Average damage at its absolute best isn't really the way to deal with Knoll with counters in tow.
Knoll vs Nidoqueen (RBY) - Knoll should kill Nidoqueen before Leer veers into fatal range.
Knoll vs Monk (FFT) - Monk can avoid counters, but that makes his damage kinda suck. However, Chakra could be annoying... but Monk's slower anyway. Iunno, really. If FFT crits weren't kinda sucky in their spikiness, maybe?
6-3. Weirdly good for the division because Nos counter tanking is kinda busted in Light even off Knoll's egregious stat spread. Oh well.
Saber (DQ5) vs Knight (FF5) - That's a gross disparity in damage, which is nowhere near mitigated by the speed split. To make matters worse, Saber also isn't as durable as the HP makes him look (which is honestly not much, just 1.09 PC HP...) due to crap defenses.
Saber vs Zhuzhen Liu (SH1) - Nourishing Potion looks positively godlike against Saber's 6HKO damage.
Saber vs Yangus (DQ8) - The speed split means constant 3-2s, but they're hardly enough against the ID.
Saber vs Miranda - Once again, when it's so clearcut... Saber really needed his damage to be less bad.
Saber vs Adray Lasbard (SO3) - Adray doesn't need the status, probably opts for it out of mercy anyway.
Saber vs Viktor (Suikos) - Vastly outdamages.
Saber vs Randi (SoM) - Similar stats, considerably better damage, speed isn't enough to tip this.
Saber vs Janus (VP1) - At worst, POIZN tips this in Janus' favor.
Saber vs Nidoqueen (RBY) - Saber damage is just awful. Growl actually makes this even worse.
Saber vs Monk (FFT) - Ew.
0-10. Saber's like a more extreme version of Kain: the stats are there, but the offense just doesn't go anywhere -at all-. He doesn't even get Kain's elemental spoiling options or his weirdass Puny-proofing stuff like Blood Lance. That's probably the best stat spread I know to ever disgrace itself with a Puny ranking.
This field is actually less astonishingly terrible than the last, super. Some pretty good Lights in the mix.
