I avoid writing in this topic, mostly because I usually thought if I got started I would be writing in it almost every night. But last night was too good not to share because it gives a clue to just how crazy my dreamscape really is.

It starts with a dream I've had before, just once to my recollection. This particular one was probably dredged up from my subconcious due to starting Silent Hill last night.

Starts on your average city block. Probably New York City, but I couldn't tell you what, except the entirety of my left is blocked off by a brick wall as high as the eye can see. I'm looking for something or someone. I don't know what yet. I get to the end of the block and turn the corner to see a guy that looks like Morgan Freeman there, sweeping the streets. He starts explaining to me what I needed to know. I couldn't tell you what that was, because I don't remember. I turn around and head back down the street and enter a building, walking up a few flights of stairs to a place that resembles my old office at CPM. No one there is familiar, but since MF sent me there I explain what I need. They give me no help, so I walk to an AC vent on the wall and crawl inside to the Place in the Walls, which bears some explanation in itself.

This is one of the most common reoccuring places in my dreams, the Place in the Walls. I've been there in a lot of different dreams, generally when I can't figure something out or need to go somewhere. It's generally narrow but wide enough to at least stand normally. There are a few rooms, with stacks of paper generally scattered about in an unorganized and precarious fashion and people working. And of course, you can see the framework on the sides as if you were inside a wall.

Anyway, I talk to some people here and find out something, then head back out and talk to the people in the office again and they finally tell me where the person is I'm looking for (because I suddenly do know). I head back down and enter an alley next to the building, whereupon Michael Myers steps out of the shadows.

This is where the dream ended the first time I had it. Not tonight though. It doesn't continue the way you think though. Instead, it starts from the beginning and I have the same exact dream two more times in full. On the third time though, I just turn and open up one of the basement doors that are in the alley, Michael Myers just stands there dumbly. I walk down into the basement, which just ends up being an endless staircase encased in darkness, except for the stairs. After walking a while, I reach a small platform where a black woman with crazy hair is standing. I stop and talk to her for a bit. About what I have no recollection, but after a while I just keep going down the stairs. After a while of walking, I basically blink and find myself back on the platform as if I'd never left, still in mid conversation. This is where it ended tonight.

Of course. The fun doesn't end there. Nope. Whats a night without a double feature? Or quadruple feature, if you consider the previous dream to be three seperate instances.

This one is much less interesting, because it's pretty standard dream stuff. Amusingly, it's a Sliders dream. The first girl, Rembrandt and Jerry O'Connel's lameass brother's character are there. We're driving on a road heading into my town. We're excited since we think it's home. We arrive at my house, where we split up to check things and see if we really are. Much like in the similar episode, things aren't quite exactly right. But we quickly run out of time to check as the timer goes from 2 hours to 30 minutes to 60 seconds in a heartbeat. I'm making a once over of the things I'm taking/leaving from my room and it's pretty much like I've got three bags of holding I'm carrying so much stuff. I pull out an NES with 4 controllers and laugh and say "I keep bringing this thing along in case we get stuck in a somewhere where it's still the 1980's." Everyone laughs. I put it back into the bag and we jump through the portal, where I wake up.

Like I said, the second one isn't as interesting, but the sheer novelty of the first (three) convinced me to post. The last couple days have been pretty interesting dreamwise, so I figured I'd at least get one up here.

My most recent dream involved me writing in this topic about something that happened earlier in the dream.

My writing teacher yesterday described the Bluebook form of citations, which account for every law citation quandary you would ever possibly have thought of but in ambiguous terms (you need not full cite a subsequent mention of a case name so long as it is "within the same general discussion" as your first cite?  what does that mean, exactly?) and unreadable format, and which is published by the Harvard Law Review and is intended for use by law students, as an elaborate form of hazing.  So maybe?

I swear to god, that Bluebook is worse than D&D for having information that should go together in completely different places.  They have a table of acceptable abbreviations for judicial decisions which, I swear to god, does not actually define the terms abbreviated.  The title of the table?  "Explanatory Phrases."  Thanks a lot, Harvard Law Review.

There was a running test as part of the JET interview.  Then a 3 legged race with David Bowie.  He ended up calling me a wanker and finishing the race himself, dragging me behind.  We got second place, which wasn't enough to get to Japan (or whatever?) but was enough for me to lay in a kiddie pool and get covered by snakes at which point I freak out and wake up.

Dreaming about David Bowie's third leg and snakes?  I think that is just a healthy dream.

I watched too much burn notice before bed last night. I dreamed about being under fire from a Libyian sniper. Far worse, I had a dream VSM was the father of a blue baby with sideburns and who could float. I woke up screaming from that dream and went to tell my parents how horrible it was, only to wake up later and realize that was a dream too.

I approve of any and all dreams that indicate that I had passionate sex with Namora.

So I dreamt I was trying to sleep and for some reason my TV was on and playing a gory movie. Even though I knew I had my eyes closed, I could see the TV clearly. So I walked over to it and shut it off and then went back to sleep, whereupon I actually woke up.

Third person dream this time.

The hero of some kind of epic action fantasy was laid out with god knows what, and thus unable to stop the rampaging of these three, nearly invincible monsters. Suddenly, there was an emergence of a giant of a man (but just a man with no powers), whom I knew to be the hero's rival, and usual antagonist. There was a dramatic reveal as he proclaimed himself to be "Combo Breaker" in a voice that was 3 parts gravel and 8 parts straight gin.

Combo Breaker started kicking the everloving shit out of these monstrous things without batting an eye, in one of the most brutal displays I have ever seen. At one point, he had a propane tank in either hand and was just alternating smashes against one of the beasties' heads.

Then the other two beasties transmogrified into my doggies, and I didn't want Combo Breaker to kill my doggies like he did poor propane-face, and apparently my subconscious felt that growing anxiety and he chose to lure the much-less-threatening-than-monster-beasts doggies into secure rooms which he then locked, because Combo Breaker is just a stand-up guy.

Last night I dreamed I was fighting a girl and I shut her out of space time so she would never have existed.  But then I felt bad and let her back into reality.

I think this was brought on mostly by this, Super Mario Galaxy, and the last episodes of Kaze no Yojimbo and Natsume Yujinchou.  Maybe.

I had a dream about being screamed at by everyone. I accidentally forgot to put the department name on the package I had sent to the school (this actually did happen) but then this woman starts screaming at me and calls me incompetent (well, this partially happened IRL, no screaming though). Then the shipping guy called me and started yelling at because he didn't know my name (this also happened IRL but on a seperate ocassion). And then I started getting guilted out by someone else. I.. yeah.

So I've been trying to get that lucid dream thing going, so I've been keeping a dream log.  Here's all I wrote this morning.

"Rachael Maddow presents a piece of the sexual politics of TF2....one of those distance throwing games....student loan debt"

Riiight.

Baby turtles jumping down people's throats and then exploding out of their lungs once they hit sufficient mass.

My dad turning into a Cthuluian monstrosity while yelling at me about stuff.

And just last night, dreaming I was drowning in sentient vaseline.

...I think I remember why I don't sleep well, now.

Pen and paper, you need to start writing now Tai.  I would read all three of those stories (or that one with all three parts).

They... really weren't stories, is the thing.

My dreams work kinda weirdly - I can get about like ten miles of impression from just what feels like "ten seconds" of scenes. The longest of those was my dad yelling at me, I think, and that's because it had a part before and after that... were only loosely connected but still disjointed dream wacky limbo world. Turtle thing was literally just ten seconds then bam, I wake up freaked out. Vaseline I slept through just like I sleep through most of the dreams in which I myself actually die. Iunno why.
