I don't have a snooze alarm, but I've done that just... normally because I wake up when I sleep fairly often. I have never had it with a lucid or semi-lucid dream, though.

It's a lot more pronounced when it's at shorter intervals and on a regular basis.

I've also noticed that if you get used to the snooze alarm, you can cycle through REM sleep fast enough to have multiple dreams, or skip along one dream with a degree of lucidity, or even skip along one dream while have it constantly change like chapters in a book. This takes a pretty fair bit of conditioning though, since you need to be able to go immediately back to sleep right after hitting snooze. I tend to do this for more than an hour sometimes.

Your body hates you and what you have done to your circadian Rhythm to be conditioned into that.  REM sleep should take something like 45 minutes to slip into if I am remembering correctly.

EDIT: Taking out my stupidity. Mixed up REM and NREM sleep. You're right in that, roughly. Slipping into REM sleep in under 30 minutes is a symptom of narcolepsy, though, as I recall. Damn sure I don't have that. And my Circadian Rhythm was fucked up loooong before I would have this happen.

So! I was walking up some stairs and who should be at the top but Will Smith (circa Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) wearing the WBF World Heavyweight Title. You know, like Holyfield got his ear bitten off over or whatever? Yeah. I informed him that I was challenging him for his title and pulled a switchblade out of my sleeve and threw it at him. An unfortunate choice, as he caught it and whipped it back at me. Stuck in my shoulder, straight out like knives don't. So I pulled it out, rushed him, and proceeded to make with the stabbing. Not like real brutal stabbing, more like that thing from the music video to Beat It.

Long story short, I was the World Heavyweight Champion, not Will Smith.

Nice one Rob.

*eyes VSM* Yeah ... I think we can safely say VSM is a lot more scarier than me ;)

Last dream I had I discovered I had a rich uncle with twins. Only it turns out he wasn't a real uncle rather just a friend of the family and he wanted me to marry one of his sons. One son was evil, one son good. They lived in this old fashioned haunted manor type place. Anyway I wanted to escape and I managed to convince the good son that I wanted to go somewhere else. So together with a black man and a gypsy like woman who had also been prisoners in the place we escaped the manor. After that we were being hunted across the country side. The gypsy woman thought we should steal some horses but the good son worried about us getting a criminal record >_> After thinking a bit about morals I decided sod it I want to ride a horsie and so when the gypsy woman and the other man came back riding two black Highland types and leading two others I happily mounted up. Good son wasn't about to be left behind so he came too. So we rode for a while until we got to a moterway (which was totally out of place yeah <_<) and then I said we could leave the horses in the field round the corner since it was close to where they had been taken from. However somehow bad son and his lackeys had gotten in front of us. I'm not sure what happened next but I must have gotten pissed or something because the next thing was *I* was doing the chasing. Only I was flying. It was awesme. Bad son was a distance away on a bike and the others with me didn't have a hope of catching him. I just keep going faster and faster though. It was a real rush. Before I knew it I'd caught up to bad son and knocked him flying off his bike.

Know what the weirdest/funniest part was? They looked like Euram Barrows. I mean what.

Phrase to remember: "Insane Bus Dream"

I've been falling asleep and dreaming on the bus. (There shouldn't be enough TIME to dream. So this worries me.) If I do it on the bus, my dream ALSO always takes place on the bus, I assume because my body is moving. Insane Bus Dreams tend to include nothing more than a few fleeting moments of dreaming that the people on the bus are in different locations, or that there's a weird guy standing in the middle of the bus. They are not terribly exciting dreams.

Hell yeah, Horizontal Rule. No more VSM ~~~~~~s for me!

I had one of the few vivid "This could probably happen in reality" dreams, dreams during a nap a few minutes ago, conclusively proving that a good dream can depress you.

I dreamed, and was fooled by, a dream where I was leaving school, walking to the bus station, and an awesome girl I like ran me down to exchange contact info. Waking up sucked. (Awwwwww)

Reviving this temporarily.

I just had a weird surreal moment. I had a dream about sleepwalking - no, not the exaggerated zombie walk in the movies. More like actions without consciousness.

In the dream, I remember that I was at school, teaching my classes as usual. Apparently this particular day I hadn't gotten much sleep, because I was feeling tired... in my dream. I had started playing a jeopardy-game with my students that
pretty much only required me to read questions and the students did most of the gaming, so to speak. In my dream, I remember that I have started playing the game... when suddenly I find myself waking up and realizing I have lost consciousness -while- reading these questions. The students are looking at me expectantly, but not oddly - apparently they haven't noticed that I lost consciousness for a bit... except I realize that I'm now almost completely done with all the questions. I bravely begin to read a question, but no worries, class is suddenly over - no one has realized that I 'fell asleep'. Apparently I continued to read the questions even in my half-awake state. I begin collecting my materials to go, when suddenly I find myself waking up on my couch at home and almost falling off of it. Disoriented, I realized that I have lost consciousness sometime during a movie I had been watching...

Like some messed up Escher painting of dreams.

Weird timing, I was just considering reviving this.

My last dream...wasn't really that much weird about it, except that it was this close to being a lucid dream. I wasn't sleeping well, kept waking up, lying there for a while and going back to sleep. After one of those bouts, I dream that I'm in a friend's apartment eating breakfast with her. Nothing weird about it, either that I can notice then or looking back on it without dream-logic mucking things up, but after about five minutes I suddenly realize that the last thing I remember was lying in bed at home at 5 in the morning and I have no clue how I got to Newark. I spent the rest of the dream panicking about how I had amnesia or something. I even remembered that I had a photo to take at 11 AM that morning (which was true), and missed it because by this point it was 11:17. Despite the nigh-lucidity, for some reason the idea that I was dreaming never entered my head.

Had a similar dream recently.  All the clues that I was dreaming were there--I couldn't remember how I had gotten back to New Mexico and started panicking about how I would have to spend lots of money to fly back to Europe for classes the next Tuesday, I couldn't recall why the class I was going to was taking place in a quarry, when I looked at the clock the numbers were unintelligible, which sent me into another panic that led to me looking at several clocks until one of them made sense, and I had a constant underlying feeling that something sinister was going on (but that might have just been natural paranoia, everybody has that).  Unfortunately even though upon waking I immediately recognized how close I was to realising it was a dream, the connection never happened while I was asleep.

Oh well, I probably would have just fucked it up like the one lucid dream I did have, which ended up in me just having a conversation with a fucking apple.

I feel that some of the general atmosphere around here has to be lightened round this weekend so in the spirit of spreading good humour! -

Proof that CT has been spending too much time in chat recently -

The other night I had a dream that I was a robot. I'm blaming you Trance! >.> The mech girl discussion that was going on in chat last weekend must have stuck in my mind <.<

I've also had a couple of dreams with people saying I'd go man for Snow or Snow being reincarnated with a differently sexuality o_o I have no idea WTF that is really about. Seriously I had a dream once where a group of DL members were together, there were wild animals running around everywhere (I don't know if they had escaped from a zoo or if they were taking over the world or what) but a tv remote controller was being used as a device like the Screaper Device to control the animals/freeze times. Since the animals were dangerous everyone wanted to have the control and were fighting over it >.> Fighting to be in control. Snow was being especially mean to me and people were trying to get him to stop being mean and someone said "she'd go man for you if she could Snow" WHAAAATTTT! Translation a combination of Growlanser and too much chat leads to fucked up dreams ...

Two things:

Firstly, I've been having repeated dreams about M&M ice cream. Like, opening up a flurry in a carton and being able to eat a flurry. I know it wouldn't be as GOOD as a Flurry, but they're good dreams nonetheless.

AND NOW
EVEN VSM'S DREAMS ARE JUVENILE
With Veryslightlymad

So. I had this dream where a bunch of people I knew from highschool were driving around checking in on a bunch of other people I went to highschool with. This might be because my sister just had her reunion.

Anyhow, there was this one, really, REALLY flamingly gay kid in my graduating class. And when it got to be his turn to check up on him, we discovered that he lived on the corner of "Weiner" and "Sachs".

I woke up giggling.

I dreamt that I sent my daughter to buy an HD tv, and she bought one the size of a washer/dryer combo.  It was huge and box shaped.  I woke up freaking out trying to figure out how I was going to pay for it.

So this one's fading now fast so I'd better get what I remember down now. In this dream somehow CK (Commander variety) somehow lived close enough to me to arrange a meet up and text/call. However he was being his usual self decrepiting self worried that we wouldn't get on when we met, etc. He also said that he smelled and didn't talk much just as he says in chat. Ok. Then the dream got really garbled and messed up so this is the part I don't remember much/everything about but it involved finding out that somehow CK was screwing with my mind and he wanted to do it as much as possible before the meet up. So I was trying to escape him even though I didn't really want to and thought everything could still be fixed >.> Then monsters and wraiths and fleeing animals like deers and horses started showing up (though they all ran from their stables/big enclosures into a smaller shed which made no sense <.<) I was mad and thought data should behave as such which prompted Luther to become part of the dream, he thought nobody should mess with his creations but him so he started deleted scary things for me whilst I tried to escape from CK. Now during this time I was aware that I was dreaming and had to wake up because I had business to attend to in real life - I can't really sleep in on Sundays. In the dream that I got the idea that if I thought of something that wouldn't want to keep asleep for I might wake up. I wasn't really controlling this part but ... I thought of Zenny of all things. Somehow the idea that Zenny might catch me in this dream state was really scary o_o Anyway it appeared to be working. That weird thing happened where you think you've woke up, you can see your room and sense your covers and everything only to end up finding you're still asleep. Then it happens again several times. I was aware of this happening and it was peeving me off because I really had to wake up for real. Then I kind of dozed off again and didn't remember anything more until I startled awake for real. Also during the CK part I could have sworn my mom came home from work and was calling for me to wake up >.>

That would be scary in any context.

A few days ago I had a dream where I had an umbrella that I could fly on. You'd stand on it, kind of like a surfboard. It was pretty cool until the army tried to shoot me down.

I'm not sure if I should be offended or flattered that I'm terrifying enough to scare someone awake.

I'll pick flattered.

So, you know how in a lot of RPGs and recent fantasy humans are depicted as the horrible bad guys and all that trite stuff?  Well, I had a dream where an alien race had invaded and convinced the world that was true--that we were so harmful that our numbers had to be culled for the survival (and better-ment) of the race, and that if we listened to these grotesque (they looked like giant poison headcrabs from HL2, except with a large, gaping mouth protruding from their underside and curling upward, above their bodies) aliens and followed their lead it would be good for the survival of the race.  And instead of resisting or anything like that, humanity sort of went along with it because, who are we to judge? These guys are thousands of years ahead of us technologically they better damn well know better than us.  Then somehow I found out it all just turned out to be propaganda and they were trying to stop humanity from advancing any further and then I woke up.

Seems a bit too... Half Life influenced, but I think with some tweaking this might end up working well as a novel. Hrm.  If only I thought of this, like, 15 days ago.  Might have been worth trying to NaNo it.

I had a dream where I was capable of jumping anywhere from fifty to a hundred feet in the air and landing safely.

Oddly enough my fear of heights wasn't a factor.

Another fading dream. Ok this one was one of my freaky FF style dreams that I randomly have from time to time.

Part of the dream was set in a school and Tai, Tal and other random people were involved. There was this girl (nobody I know) and she was the generic tough chick type. Short spiky hair, piercings, that sort of thing. She was involved in something that could have gotten us all into trouble. So we were trying to keep in with her whilst at the same time trying to get away. This involved going through the school building, up stairs and down stairs, through corridors, through connecting rooms and so on. There was also something going on with mobile phones and in the end a teacher appeared but we didn't get into any trouble because only the tough girl was caught.

Now the FF stuff which was set outside mostly. My group had Shiva and another group had Ifrit, wind and earth summons and Leviathan. In the dream I was thinking about Bahamut but I'm not sure if any group actually had it.
The odds weren't in my group's favour and we decided to try and obtain more summons. We "talked" to Shiva about this. I ask if it were possible for there to be another Leviathan, couldn't we just make any old sea creature our Leviathan. Turns out there were other Leviathans (well duh) but trying to catch one nearly got me drowned. It was an angry male one. It wasn't the biggest but it was mean >.> Shiva said if we were really going to do this we should probably go for a smaller one and female because they were usually more docile <.< Only thing to watch out for was Distemper o_o Anyway I was swimming under water and I managed to tame a female Leviathan but not before she bit me. However somehow by this point we also had Siren who used status curing on me.

I wanted an Ifrit but it turns out that in this dream world there was only one of each of Ifrit and Shiva. She spun a story about how long ago Shivas used to be really ugly valkyrie like things but one day an Ifrit and a Shiva fell in love. The beautiful Shivas were descendants but most of them were killed off by their older kin and their kin were killed by hunters.

Then the dream turned all Growlanzey and the summons had destroyed Felmentia. Also Cyriltia, Grangale and Neylern were at war again >.>

Also in my dreams the "Tal" figure always appears as the voice of reason whilst Tai is the really helpful dude who is always nice <.<

Okay, I'm curious here.  You mention seeing people from chat in your dreams... a lot.  Exactly... how?  How do people you've never seen before show up in your dreams?  That's just weird.

They are vague generic male (usually though Ciato has shown up a couple of times but I'd already seen a picture of her before them) shapes that somehow in the dream I just know who they are and are thus labelled "Tal" "Tai" "Snow" and so on. Sometimes people appear as their avatars though which is really weird! If I've already seen a picture of someone and they then turn up later in a dream then they look like their picture or at least vaguely resemble it. Like the dream I had the other week or so when you appeared - when in the dream I was thinking Zenny the image was the DL Gallery picture >.>

Most of the times in dreams I tend not to see people at least in focus. It's ... uhhh. Hard to explain and weird. It sometimes seems like I'm more thinking dreams than seeing, like I'm thinking or being told a story as it unfolds. There are images but they are usually weird and nonsensical. Also I'm quite good at lucid or at least active dreaming, I'll usually realise that hey this is a dream, become aware of what's happening, usually think what the hell this is crazy and can sometimes influence it to change in a certain manner. If there's a dream than I found particularly interesting and want to see where it might run to I can sometimes "think" my way back into a specific dream or dream type too.

Hand of god, I just had a dream where I was singing the theme song from Farewell Mr. Despair, season 1. I sang it correctly, despite it being Japanese and me not seeing season one for several months.

Holy hell. It turns out I love that show a disturbing amount.

I ended up -actually- singing that song at a karaoke bar last night. Hurt my throat quite a bit.

Last night I dreamed that Crystal had kittens overnight even though she's sixteen years old, spayed, and hasn't seen in another cat in years. When I woke up (in the dream, it was like I was just getting out of bed) there was a whole swarm of furballs screaming at instead of just one. I like cats and all, but I think this qualifies as a nightmare.

There was also some Suikoden stuff where the 108 stars included luchadores and James Earl Jones and people I work with. It was weird.

I had a dreamy night where, even though my dream kept changing, there was a prevailing theme throughout the dream:

I kept thinking about this movie I saw featuring Bruce Campbell. I think it was supposed to be a Christmas movie, and I think there were demons or something. It's hazy now, but in my dream, I had known I had seen this movie like, six or seven times, and I knew the entire plot, start to finish. I kept trying to tell people I knew about the movie, but since I couldn't think of a title, no one would believe me.

Later on, the dream changes into some weird, "I-shift-my-perspective-to-fictional-characters" sequence, where I am some weird squad-based game-but-it's-reality, and I am possessing ridiculously random people, such as some old guy I saw on the bus, Dr. Lawrence Kutner from House (Specifically Kutner. Not just Kal Penn) and a dude named Kazin that was definitely not the guy from Shining Force 2. It was just some random badass dude named Kazin.

Anyhow, Old guy, Kutner, Kazin, and I are breaking into this mob-held facility of some sort, gunning down gangsters with large weapons, and learning that Dr. Kutner is surprisingly terrible with a Sniper Rifle. I shift around from control of guys until I'm on myself, and I'm guarding this area that the Kazin dude cleared. I'm supposed to make sure no one breaks into it for some reason; I think I was standing watch. There was a computer in the room.

I put my gun into my left hand, point it down the hallway, and, in a "Ah, what the hell" sort of moment, I turn on the computer, wait several tedious seconds as it boots up, and quickly jump to IMDB to look up Bruce Campbell, because I HAD TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCKING MOVIE WAS CALLED.

Then I couldn't read text in my dream so I woke up.

Yikes ^^

I've had dreams like those before Cid though usually it's about pet cats I used to have that have came back and I dream I feel them jumping on the bed, moving up it, it's like I can really hear them purring and everything. Then they multiply. Then I'm like ... arghh it's teh demons!

Action packed dreams this week featuring dragons, post acolyptic Scotland, dead waste lands, CT having magic fingers and making things grow by touching them and all sorts of other various and really weird things. Like living in remote countryside with a guy I used to know when we were kids trying to run the best farm ever with the best horses, sheep and dogs, taking our kids out on trips and remembering when we were that age. Too many dreams to remember and write down really v_v

There's one but it was creepy and I really don't want to think about it >.> It was finding someone was in my bed and ... >.> I was trying to find out who it was, followed them out the room but found out none of the lights in the house were working.
