Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal: Too bad. I like both quite a lot.
Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle): I've gotta admit, RSMS boss tracks beat damn near everything in my book.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle: As above, so below.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v  Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle: Blah, why couldn't Betrayal be here? Then I could vote for it. Epic Battle is fairly bland.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival: Roadkill versus I-No.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War: Not remotely close. An effective mood piece will always beat a wacky character theme for me.
Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA: Never been a fan of Guara Bobelo.
Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory: Better at what it's trying to do.

Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal - Easy match, I dig Persephone.
Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle) - Eh.  Pretty close, very similar.  Grandia's less repetitive.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle - Fairly different styles.  Just plain like the RS better.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v  Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle - This is about where standard Sakuraba style doesn't cut it.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival - Midnight Carnival's not one of my favorites from GG, but it still takes this easily.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War - Me, vote SMT/Persona music over BoF4?  Madness!  Really like Park though, and Men at War not so much.  What Cid said, except I think he's got Men at War confused with A Man (Kahn's theme), this is the West normal battle music.
Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA - Exceptional vs nothing special... at least to me.  Bobelo's groove is not something you hear done in game music often, much less done well.
Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory - I guess.  Don't like either as a piece, prefer the general style of this one more.

Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal: It's no Volsung, but the delicious violin takes this anyway.
Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle): Fairly similar, but the RSMS Big Four battle tracks tend to have an edge over anything similar to them.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle: Now this one isn't even a fight.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle: I am not listening to Shadowy Gods again. Ugh.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival: I'd still rather see one of the great GG tracks in this contest, but even one I associate negatively takes this over filler.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War: Park does nothing for me, it's just ambience. Men at War is a rare good standard battle theme.
Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA: Really close. STIGMATA starts slow but holds my attention more today.
Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory: Throwaway match.

I haven't actually played BoF4 and am unfamiliar with the OST, so yeah, I just assumed it was Kahn's music based on the title. Doesn't change the vote in any way, of course.

Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal - Both are good. Feel more like Percy's speed today.
Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle) - Another good matchup. Saruin's a bit more consistent qualitywise though.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle - We'll eventually have a round consisting of all great tracks, but this isn't. Sherah pretty handily trashes Battle but it's by no means especially good itself.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v  Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle - The downgrading continues with a couple of merely fairish tunes. I do believe that Shadowy is the winner here.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival - Seeeeeethe. Carnival at least has _A_ good part.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War - Aoba is nice and soothing-ish. Men is nice and FAIL ORIENTAL THEMED.
Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA - Not Guara Bobelo.
Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory - I'd like to say the round ended on a high note but it doesn't really. Karma smites puny lalah.

Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal - Having played the game a second time, I can say that I didn't find Persephone's battle theme too impressive in-game.  Just...didn't feel like it fit the fight well.  Decent enough techno on its own, at least.   Betrayal is very fitting and an excellent mixing of an old, fitting song.  Yay.

Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle): Tough to vote against Fight4 this early, but Saruin is damn good.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle: This RSMS victory, however, is not close at all.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle: An easy decision. Shadowy Gods isn't bad, but against a strong DDS entry... better luck next time.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival: HIPPOPRESOR... oh, wait, GGX music is actually good, unlike S5's mere averageness? Oh well.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War: Breath of War has that delightful eastern (western) feel spliced with a nice battle track. Park has boring.
Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA: I remember Stigmata! Decent track, that. This is still a one-second decision.
Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory: Karma's no Meaning of Birth, but it beats this odd choice from FF9.

Wild Arms 5 - Persephone IPCC_3927 (: Battle) v Digital Devil Saga 2 -  Hunting - Betrayal
Persephone is a fun bouncy little tune, while Hunting feels too much like it's trying to be grungy, with most of it being pretty blah, and the one bit where it has flow not being good enough to compete with Persephone's high points.

Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle)
They're both good, and this is a close match.  But, Saruin just has a more nuanced tune which means that I'm getting more out of each relisten, whereas Fight.v4 is fairly skin deep.

No real commentary, just don't like Epic Battle much.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival
It's not an RPG, but it does bring the rock.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War
The style of music in BoF4 is good for its light breezy stuff, but doesn't work at all for drama.

Wild Arms 4 - Nightless City Guara Bobelo v Mana Khemia - STIGMATA
Not feeling the love for Stigmata today, and Nightless City does have that jazzy beat.

Tales of the Abyss: Karma v Final Fantasy IX - Song of Memory
A fun bouncy guitar tune vs. a weaker version of the main FF IX theme?  Easy pick.

Romancing SaGa: Decisive Battle! -Final Battle with Saruin- v Grandia II- Fight!! Ver 4 (Last Battle) - Also both good.  Going with the one I listened to a million times because the boss kept kicking my ass over and over and still not got bored with it.
Romancing SaGa: Calling an Awakening Memory -The Battle with Schirach- v Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Battle - Probably the weakest RSMS battle theme and not even all that good, but it's fucking Nocturne battle music.
Valkyrie Profile - Fighting the Shadowy Gods v  Digital Devil Saga 2 - Epic Battle - Is awesome.

Megaman X Command Mission - Standby, Zero v Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival - Doesn't fucking fail.  And is pretty damn groovy on its own.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment - Aoba Park v Breath of Fire 4 - Men at War - Good match.
