The link name is misleading...

I read it as

PETA "wishes Obama hadn't"s.    As if there was a list of things that PETA wished he hadn't done. (And I'm sure there is somewhere.) I'm somewhat disappointed that this was only -one- example of PETA's over-reactions.

You should be proud of your governor, at least, for making them do this in public. Whatever shames these douchbags is good for humanity.

That this whole mess makes governor Paterson look good is the really ironic part.  His approval rating previous to this mess was LOWER than Spitzer's EVER was, up to and including the point at which Spitzer resigned in shame.

Ah, Berlusconi.

Someone ought to tell him that while

"I've never paid a woman. I never understood where the satisfaction is when you're missing the pleasure of conquest."

is a good defense when you're accused of soliciting a prostitute, it's not that great when you're also in divorce proceedings with your wife, whom you swear you've never cheated on.

I'd be inclined to believe men who view women as conquests are the type who are more likely to frequent prostitutes, anyway. What a delightful comment.

Eh, except that paying someone isn't a conquest at all.  I suppose if your pride is in the fact that you can make people dance to your tune with obscene amounts of money, sure.  But if it's more that you're just so damned sexy or there's some other quality about yourself that let's you gain these conquests, then you should be able to gain a 'conquest' whenever desired without any need to pay.

It's not a flattering view of women, sure.  But to say that if that statement is truth that he's more likely to frequent prostitutes ignores the type of pride and sense of self that's being professed.

Berlusconi, in addition to being the prime minister, is also a media-owning billionaire.  Think Bloomberg, minus the morals.  He once tried to pass a law that prohibited the prime minister from being sued...because he was the prime minister and someone was suing him.  Is he paying women for sex?  I don't know, but I don't think it really matters, either.  He's exceedingly rich, he likes to invite sexy young women to his lavish parties, and he's been known to back starlets as political candidates.  Whether or not he's directly paying for sex, there's heavy inference of a quid pro quo.

...Wait, who's the idiot in that Oklahoma story?

From all I've heard prostitutes have had to work cheaper as there's fewer clients and more competition in the midst of the economic crisis.  $30 worth of chips, if you eat and enjoy chips regularly, is worth about $30 (there's a lot of preservatives in those; they won't go bad).  The frito guy can most likely get those chips from warehouse for less than $30; good deal for him.  (Or, more likely, he was just stealing the chips from the company).  The undercover cop caught on to the situation pretty fast.

Although...I guess it's kinda messed up that the Frito guy didn't get arrested, seeing as there's decent odds he was stealing those chips from the company (in addition to the fact that he admitted he had been cruising for a prostitute).

He probably had more than one crate with him, or actually had some cash, and managed to bribe the cop.

This says way more about your culture than you want it to.  The not so obvious one that what the fuck someone that young can walk convincingly in 6 inch stilettos.

Edit - Upon reflection, the fact that someone can trawl for hookers with a box of potato chips and pull it off also says more about your culture than you want it to.  But I won't hold that against places that aren't Oklahoma.

On the one hand, girls in their early teens typically want to feel sexy and want to feel like grownups; getting their hands on heels and trying to walk in heels is usually par for the course; same with experimenting with makeup; lots of girls wear training bras long before they have any need for them too.  When you're 13 this stuff is exciting.  (By contrast, when you're 35 it's "fuck heels, fuck makeup, fuck bras, I'm tired of this shit.")  You can question why office women are expected to wear heels and makeup, but the fact that 13-year-olds want to feel like grownups is pretty universal and natural.

On the other hand...6 inches?  6?  Good god, how does that even work--ballerina toe walking or something?

Pretty much and very fucked up feet afterwards.  A large platform sole on the front portion also is probably necessary for ones that high..

I can understand someone of that age being interested in heels (because people fucking fail), but lots of people can't walk in them well at all even as an adult no matter how long or how often they wear them (Pro tip, this is probably a good sign that your body is rebelling against the very horrible things you are doing to it).

IIRC heel height is measured as the difference between the heel and the toe.  Platform shoes where the heel is 6 inches but the toe is 4 inches would still count as a 2 inch heel.

Ehh...depends on the heel.  Smaller heels I was able to learn to walk in in about a day (like...2-inch or 3-inch).  I mean, my feet hurt, but I could walk in them just fine.
