It's not even worth mentioning that the earlier you add salt in the cooking process, the less salt you need to produce the same effect.

It'd be nice to see some sort of law that puts a cap on the amount of salt that can be put into restaurant food (it's quite easy to get 200-300% of recommended sodium intake from a single food item, which is frankly unacceptable) but a full ban deserves the respect it is getting.

I'd love to see the same thing on frozen food. I mean there's other stuff wrong with it healthwise, but the dealbreaker for me is usually the 90-120% of DV of sodium.

I don't know that I'd want to force companies to go find something else to keep their food unspoiled, because god only knows what they might come up with.

The number of actually effective preservatives are much lower than I expected when a friend and I researched it a while back.

Various forms of packaging tricks, and....Salt, Sugar, Acid, Base, Alcohol. That's...pretty much it for stuff that you can add to food and stop all major bacteria.
