Except I don't trust people to hand out bans in a reasonable fashion when it comes to a judgment call like "how bad of an offense did this troll commit." If moderators are anything like cops then bans would depend more on their mood than the actual offense.

Some people do, unfortunately. These people are either able to hide it or get fired. I can kind of see the argument that legalization is problematic since you can test if someone is intoxicated via breathalyser or some other test, which you cannot do with marijuana. However, I would argue that people showing up to work stoned enough to impair their ability to work are going to get caught through their incompetence. And it's kind of insulting to insinuate that a professional (surgeons, nurses, teachers, etc.) would show up to work impaired to begin with. There's a better argument for entry level employees but in 9 cases out of 10 they're going to be in a job where they'd only be a risk to themselves.

Basically I think it's going to come to someone inventing a device to easily measure the amount of pot you've smoked (ala a Breathalyzer). Once that happens, legalization would. So... aspiring inventors and entrepreneurs... get to work! There's a ground floor to make a fortune.

Ugh, read about that. seriously fucked up. I mean, sorry, he gave her a false name, she assumed he was Jewish, and she slept with him more or less on the spot? Not rape. Not even close. Show me a scintilla of coercion and we'll talk. It's difficult to believe this would have even been prosecuted had the situation been anything but a Palestinian man and an Israeli woman.

US rape laws vary by state, but I doubt this would qualify in any of them. In the US, lying to induce sex tends to be punishable as a sex crime ONLY if there was a fiduciary relationship, in other words if the rapist owed some special duty to the victim. Doctor-patient, attorney-client, etc. Some states wouldn't punish lying to get sex as rape in any circumstance (unless there was some coercion as well, though it might be punishable as civil fraud).

so North Korea has been holding an American who crossed the border from China. Jimmy Carter goes over to negotiate his release. We get the guy back, and what do the North Koreans get? They get to show Jimmy Carter who's the boss by snubbing him. That's right, Kim Jong Il was too busy to meet with Carter because he was in China looking at schools for his grandson.

I love this. Kim Jong Il, who we all know is in terrible health, goes to the trouble of leaving the country JUST to have a pretext not to meet with Jimmy Carter. Yes, North Koreans think NOT having to sit through photo ops with the great leader is humiliating! I don't know how Carter will ever mend his reputation. Except that he just got an American out of an 11-year sentence in North Korean prison.
