The Church follows the laws of God, not those of man.  And God is eternal and unchanging.  Hence, if it was A-OK back in 426AD when the Synod of whatever said God was down with it, then why wouldn't it be fine and dandy now?

I initially assumed it was Sarah Palin, because it would be more than dumb enough coming from her, but the truth is even more hilarious/depressing/disturbing.
It would be pretty ironic coming from Sarah Palin because she advocates abstinence-only education--the form of sex education where all you tell kids is "don't have sex" without going into any of the details or precautions you can take.

It makes all kinds of sense coming from Bristol.  Kind of "what the hell mom!  You could have told me!"

I'm assuming she was just referring to the pain of childbirth being far greater than she had ever imagined?

I'm sure she was aware sex = babies. To imply otherwise is probably disingenuous and honestly we shouldn't be harping on the teenage mother who is only famous because her mom ran for vice-president.

Let's all celebrate this instead: http://rawstory.com/blog/2009/05/conservative-radio-hosts-waterboarded

That is pretty wholly crazy. I like how all the good endings neccessarily involve converting someone to Christianit- I mean 'classical ideas' OR Shooting the opposing idea. And how ignoring someone who holds a different viewpoint than the Hero inevitably ends in the 'bad ideal' person shooting you...

I did notice that if he took all the loaded vocabulary out of his flow charts and replaced them with more general terms like 'good/bad' or 'light/dark', he has accurate flowcharts of most archetypal game stories, though. Of course, going through his flowcharts, it's pretty obvious that this person thinks 'anything typically conservative' = 'good/light' and 'anything typically liberal = 'bad/dark'. This is the nicest way I can describe this person's thinking.

EDIT: How did you stumble across this madness?

Zero: What am I fighting for?
Prompt:
A) The communists / Matrix / regime / Sauron / Scottish nobles
B) The Rebels / freedom fighters/ truth

A is quite possibly the most awesome teamup ever.

Well he's quite obviously a confused Christian libertarian, since the "right" answer is not really consistent (Shoot the woman who suddenly starts collectivizing property in front of your eyes is good, but turn the other cheek is also good?  And ODYSSEUS turns the other cheek, who tricks and kills hordes of enemies in his path?).  Djinn, by classical ideals, since he invokes the Greeks a bunch he's clearly referring to, well, a classics education with that.  Not real common today, but this used to be tied into Christianity a bunch more.  (Isn't there an RPGDLer who goes / went to St. John's College, anyway?  Wouldn't be surprised if the writer was an unusually crazed Johnnie...)  So...  yeah.  On second thought AAA was correct that there's so much stuff to address here it's hard to know where to begin.

Comes up a bit more in Quaker colleges education.  Check out Otter's curriculum sometime.

World falls to serfdom.

I like how absolutely little concept of Communism he has.  How someone TALKING ABOUT COMMUNISM causes the global collapse of social structure everywhere.  How the only way to respond to communism is the American founding Father's and violence.

I mean seriously every other country in the world is fucked because we didn't study our American History properly.  No wonder Cuba fell.  NEVAR FORGET.

Isn't there an RPGDLer who goes / went to St. John's College, anyway?

I'm going to St. John's University School of Law this fall, if that's what you mean.

Nah, Otter was who I was thinking of, see Grefter.

The guy has a website for his fanficcy book which gets referenced in the patent a bunch ( http://autumnrangers.com/ ) which mentions "Great Books" and "Discuss Great Books" and the St. Johns program is the "Great Books program," so I thought there might be something to it.  On second thought this seems unlikely, as apparently Dr. E has a Ph.D in Physics, and is just one of those eccentric guys who is completely crazy elsewhere.  A Johnnie education isn't really the best grounds for going into physics later, though it's possible, I guess.  (My cousin graduated from St. Johns College two weekends ago, so fairly familiar with the school, actually.)

Also while everyone should read the patent application everyone should read his book description too.

Quote
Ranger invented APRIL--an AI biocomputer which was stolen by Silicon Virtue Inc. and turned against him while he was flying missions over Afghanistan. Silicon Virtue is using APRIL to serve the bottom line instead of the higher ideals, building WMDs and sending ever-more-sinister RoboClones to hunt Ranger and Autumn down. Ranger wears the Ring that can save APRIL by unlocking an encrypted moral operating system named Beatrice, named after Ranger's first summer love who passed away when they were fourteen.

Together Autumn and Ranger have to make it from Charleston to LA on backroads before the bombs APRIL built for terrorists detonate in NY and LA, and before APRIL's RoboClones kill them.

And so it is that two Romantics find themselves on the run from RoboClone agents and Sheriffs of Irony who enforce a context of decline and persecute the honest and true. Autumn and Ranger become partners in crime and partners in rhyme. They become Classic American Outlaws running west in a '69 Stingray Corvette, building the Renaissance against all odds. They become Autumn Rangers. And by the time Ranger discovers Autumn's deep secret, it's too late--he's in love.

State trooper tickets a driver for failure to yield to a police car with lights flashing. Driver tells him he's full of crap, a fight ensues where the officer is caught on tape choking the driver.

Oh, did I mention the vehicle they pulled over was an ambulance that was carrying a patient to the hospital, and the officer was attacking a uniformed EMT? Thank you, Oklahoma.

I was reading an article about the GM bailout online, and I ventured to the comments section. Most were about OBAMA BEING MARXIST and such, but I found one that made me want to barf.

Quote
This is another symptom of America's decline and decay as the racial make up of the country slides from White to nonwhite, like so many past civilizations. When Whites were 95% of the US and we controlled our government and industries, we had more jobs than we knew what to do with. Our prosperity was unrivaled. Then we foolishly let the Jews in, then the blacks got "equal rights," then the rest of the third world, and now the White race has declined to 65% (probably more like 55%) and it's no coincidence that every facet of our society - the economy, the educational system, and the social structure - all of which were unrivaled just a generation ago, are now all in steep decline paralleling the rise of the nonwhite population.

That reminds me of the time one of my friends was talking about his time on Xbox Live. One of his friends suddenly stopped playing Call of Duty 3, complaining that it was "such a shit game, total waste of time, no idea why I even fucking played it in the first place". When they asked him what was wrong with it, one of his actual arguments was: "The storyline's too predictable". In a World War game.
I mean, seriously, what did you fucking expect? The Germans to win? >.>

Yesterday: Telltale Games announced that they would be making a new Monkey Island game. Just the existence of this game is pretty much the holy friggin' grail for adventure game fans, never mind that it had the original lead actors, one of the main writers for Secret of Monkey Island is overseeing the project (something not even the LucasArts sequels had after the second one), the guy who made Day of the Tentacle is directing, etc. etc.

Time for people to start bitching about the graphics and saying the series has been ruined by those bastard console gamers and their evil control pads: four hours.

I can't say I didn't see this coming, but just once I'd like to be wrong. Please?

When you're whining about consoles ruining the PC experience of a freaking point-and-click text game that exists to be read, I generally turn "elitist" into a synonym for "your mom slammed your head into a wall repeatedly when you were a kid".

But it's not point and click anymore, because the developers (who made Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max, you fucktards) think an interface designed for pure 2D might not be the best one for navigating a 3D world! THE SKY IS FALLING.

So, it's a bunch of legally retarded people complaining about a design decision guided by common sense? Welp, there goes the internets.

EDIT: Furthermore, if someone's complaining about getting something more player-friendly and nuanced than oldschool point-click, the kindergarteners who take the short bus have the holy right to toss rotten tomatos at the person for being hopelessly braindamaged.

The best part is that you still use the mouse to do all your interactions with characters and objects, so they completely dodge what made LucasArts' attempt at the scheme suck so much (you had to walk up to something to even see if it was selectable, and being in range of multiple objects at once was clunky as hell). The only thing the button control does is move the character from point A to point B.
