I like how Jo'ou needed to edit his "........." post.  Not enough dots?  Dots not large enough?

I couldn't remember how to add the size, and I tend to use Quick Reply. I added a dot for symmetry as well.

EDIT: I also just edit my posts a lot. >_>

What I like about that article is how there seems to be no forthcoming repercussions for the person who shot somebody while in court.  Indeed, the fact that the person most likely to get punished in all of this is the guy who got shot.  Though, given that City Hall in this case seems to be wholly corrupt and in the process of covering their own asses, they may not decide to stick around to deal with that poor Fire Chief.

I wouldn't read so negatively into the article.  AP focuses on getting reliable news out fast, and they don't tend to slow down to speculate what will happen.  I guarantee you something will happen to the cop in question.

You really think a cop can shoot another federal employee in front of a judge and get away with it when there's a freaking national news article about it?  Suit yourself.  I'll eat my hat if we don't see a follow-up article with consequences by a week from now.

He shot the guy in a courtroom, in front of witnesses, including six other police officers, a judge, a prosecutor and the mayor, and walked away a free man. If that doesn't get him arrested on the spot, he's not getting arrested.

Yeah, what Shale said.  It becomes especially doubtful when you realise that the judge and mayor in question seem to have gotten the hell out of dodge as well.  Though, like I said, good for the fire chief, since it sounds like if this become a major thing then he was about to get the mother of all scapegoating.

Note that despite being shot by people he had been dragged to court twice by for what seem to be spurious reasons he wasn't interested in pressing charges.  I doubt that's simply because he has little interest in going to court needlessly.

Obama is going to talk to schoolchildren.  Fox News goes berserk and accuses him of being like Hitler and Kim-Jong-il!  An interesting summary of events:

God damn it.  God damn it.  God damn it. I am fucking getting sick of the whole Obama=Hitler or Obama=Fascist or whatever retarded shit is being spouted by the right.  Yes, some whackjobs on the Left called Bush Hitler, and said his policies were Fascist.  But they at least verged on it; spying on Americans and torture sounds pretty damn Fascist, so there's at least some reason for it.  The level of political discourse is so rock-bottom today that it makes me want to go all Oldboy on someone's teeth.

Callling Obama a socialist isn't totally off base really.  While I don't doubt he's conservative in a global perspective, the policies he's suggested are definitely a sharp move in that direction from an American perspective.

The Hitler thing is just inane and the sort of thing that makes you wish killing people for being stupid was legal.  Good lord is this propaganda good at making them seem like empty-headed bigots.

The sad thing is, those are the key Right Wing values in the Obama panel.  It's bad when the major proponents of the movement argue against their core ideas because it comes in a package they disagree with.

It's not the claims of socialism that really bother me (fixed my post on that point).  It's... not at all true, or even close to true, and damn do I wish it were true, but the rationale is there.  Calling Fascist, though?  Seriously?  Do these jackasses even fucking know what that word means (No)?  God.

Is there any point to political discussion in this country anymore? I really don't think there is. I would be down for the country breaking up Crimson Skies-style. Not only do we no longer have the South weighing us down, we finally get to go to war with California like I've always wanted.

That's just American politics in the modern age.  Frankly I often agree with Rob on the matter, aside from the California thing.

I don't know if this is idiotic or brazenly awesome.  Guy goes the wrong way on a one-way street, gets in an accident with a motorcycle.  He's asked about the motorcyclist he hit, and what does he say?  "First of all, the motorcycle hit me."
