Worst Anime Evar?

A new topic for all of you who can't drive past a car crash without taking a glance.

What is the worst anime you ever saw?  Not just bad, but truly terrible.  Something that makes you want those minutes of your life back, along with a shower and possibly your eternal soul.  You needn't have seen all of it; just enough to offend your sensibilities.

I humbly nominate UFO Princess Valkyrie.



From Wikipedia: "The story of Kazuto Tokino and the alien Princess, Valkyrie, who gives half her soul to Kazuto after accidentally crashing her spaceship into his bathhouse and nearly killing him. The price of her "gift" to him turns her into a child. Whenever she kisses Kazuto, Valkyrie regains her adult form for a short time, along with magical powers."

If you were thinking this means she kisses him then has a nudie transformation that includes growing boobs, you have an overactive but sadly completely accurate imagination.

There's catgirls too, for what it's worth.  And the male lead is a sop, of course.

Fushigi Yūgi is the only really awful anime I remember seeing. The constant use of rape as a plot twist was pretty offensive.

That actually made me quit the show in disgust. Much as I hated Miaka that was just fucking disturbing on all levels. Not that this was the first instance of rape as a shitty plot device in the show!

Nakago was the only good part of that show and that got fucked up. The rape story was so offensive that it went from making him to a good hatable villain to just someone you wanted to see die. Or the writers.

Golgo 13: Queen Bee.

I bought this on VHS back in the day at Blockbuster for 6 bucks. Watched it, then promptly took it out back and smashed it with a sledgehammer it was so bad.

Golgo 13: THe Professional is the only one from the series that I watched and it was pretty bad as well.  A shame it did look promising.

Queen Bee was total and absolute shit, yeah. My copy still exists, though, so I don't hate it as much as Soppy.

I dunno. There's a bit of quality in the beginning of Inuyasha until it recycles into shit. Kenshin is just shit throughout.

Inuyasha gets a lot of venom from me since I'm well aware Rumiko can write better than that :/ but besides that... mmm, I'm not sure, if a show fails to impress me I tend to back off on it pretty fast, so it's hard for me to call much shitty when I don't watch it.

Brain Powered is the worst that I've voluntarily watched any bit of.  It's just a poorly explained, incomprehensible mess - the SRW version actually IMPROVES the plot by actually explaining things intelligibly, which has to be a first.

X the movie is a candidate for worst based on what I've read/heard, but I actually like the manga and have no interest in seeing its plot reduced to an overcompressed jumble of death scenes.

There's like... two episodes of Kenshin that are pretty okay. I don't think I can find anything nice to say about Inu Yasha.

That I've actually seen episodes of?  Bleach.  Or Naruto.  Or Code Geass.  Granted, I didn't see many episodes of any of the above, but it was surely enough.

EDIT: Actually, that was impulsive.  From the episodes I actually saw, Code Geass probably doesn't deserve to go next to the other two, because it had a hook or two in there that could have potentially become interesting, had I kept watching.  I have to give some credit for that, if not much.  So, just Bleach and Naruto.

Brain Powered has good music (go Yoko Kanno), so there's that, at least.  Its opening credits, which feature (from what I can tell) the entire female cast naked are weeeeird.  It's not a show you would get the impression from watching an episode of here or there that there was any nudity at all, so it's rather jarring.

X the movie is certainly down there.

Kenshin, Bleach, Naruto, Inu Yasha...I can't say I think any of these are all that bad.  Not necessarily worth watching much of, but they all have their moments.  Inu Yasha, in particular, I think is really good until it gets too repetitive, and even then there's good cast interaction to keep it afloat.  Naruto's anime is rather badly-paced, but it has flashes of greatness.  Kenshin...ok, I can't think of anything good to say about Kenshin.

Kenshin has the fight with Saito early in the second season - minimal narration, no "special moves," no retarded philosophy = victory crap, although in the larger scheme of the show it just emphasizes how awful every other fight scene was.

Mm, good point.  Yes, in Kenshinese, "Fight" just means "3-episode flashback and catharsis, with intermittent violence."

Though I've got to say, as a fight model, "I psychoanalyze you to death!" beats "Now let me show you my Frue Powar!!" any day of the week.

Also, Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (The Jungle was nice until Guu came).  Despite having some truly hilarious bits of humor, it's episode after episode of the main character being psychologically abused.  Gets old fast.
