Now that I'm safely at home...

" Aiel- He died as he lived: Screaming obscenities at reality while whipping everyone in arms reach"-Mad Fnorder

Fuck karma. Try harder to kill me next year, you only got about 85% of the way there this time. I say this as I find out the president of my company will be visting my store next week.. as I'm out of town. Okay, will stop tempting karma. Con went well. Blah blah blah delays suck and I enjoyed meeting everyone. Andrew/Ashley was really awesome in particular, Andy looks like he was doing so much better than he did when he really hung out here. Will type up a full day by day rundown when I want to be pissed off.

Edit:

Left wednesday morning to go to the airport, got delayed an hour and a half, left, went to Newark, waited, waited six hours on the plane, flight got cancelled, waited in a mile long line/talked on phone for two hours to get another flight, the last 45 minutes being WASTED because I got the flight booked and the lady didn't tell me and just hung up/dropped my call in the back of the queue, took a taxi to Fnorder's, got there at 3am hung out and talked till 5am, got up at 11am, showered, packed, left, tried to catch bus, got flipped off,  called Fnorder, realized I couldn't read signs/follow directions since I was supposed to take the train, said I was fine (Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahhaa), lost my phone, swore up a storm, spent an hour looking for it, gave up, went to the train station, went to Newark, found out that my completely booked flight was cancelled thus making every single other flight to sanfran 100% overbooked, got a nearly useless standby ticket for one flight, waited in a 2000~ person security checkpoint to get my bags checked, sat in airport that had shitty AC, paniced, unpacked my stuff i the fulite hope my phone was there, lost my standby ticket (Goddamnit!), repacked, called Ciato who called Fnorder/my family, went to help agent, got another set of standby tickets/a promise about looking into it/shitty meal voucher,  got shitty smoothie, walked to the opposite end of the C terminal, sat down for literally 30 seconds, got paged, walked all the way back, find out that the lady HAD managed to find a seat for me, cheered, went over to tremendously shitty taco place, forced self to eat (Only ate a bowl of cereal all day) but was happy, tried to board plane, rejected, turns out plane was booked solid and my ticket was no good thanks to shitty overbooking, only one spot available, I pretend to have a breakdown to get that spot, get on plane, get to con, wait an hour at the airport, have to call poor Ciato twice to call Jenna to get me, go to Gate's place, stay up way too late talking to Gate and Tai, get almost no sleep, go over to the beachhouse, hang out, go to see the beach, try to look stylish and enjoy the ocean by dabbling my feet in, misjudge waves  and try to run backwards to avoid getting my top half of my legs soaked, fall, land on my ass, get my wallet/jacket (Elfboy saved my jacket with a helluva sprint into the water to get it back)/clothes, jeans gain 100 pounds in sand/water it feels like,  walk a mile or so on the beach (Forgot a belt, fail), climb a steep incline, get up it with Gref's help, get hosed off, borrow Gref's clothes, wash clothes, play games all day, meet with everyone, chat, gossip, eat, go pick up Ciato with Elfboy and Jenna in wet shoes, try to pass out, fail, end up gossiping with Gate/Tai,  go to bed, get up, enjoy saturday, am fine till sunday.

*BREAK*

Sunday I got sick from all the junk food I was eating, hung out, waved everyone out the door, talked with OK a ton on sat/sunday, talked with everyone but Cmdr in fact (Fail on my part, was sick sunday evening), didn't eat much, spent sunday night throwing up and unable to hold down anything, say goodbye to most of the group, sleep almost none, get up at 4am, die horribly, get up for good at 7am, see Elfboy/Ciato out the door, spend monday relaxing and not eating/drinking much, go to airport, things go okay, flight is short (4.6 hours), Meeple plays FFDS, I pass out for over half the flight, including an hour in the bathroom (Gooo me), the power of Meeple laughs at puny Aiel luck, flight gets there 20 minutes early,  don't get to say goodbye to Meeple at the airport thanks to having to go puke in the bathroom, wait over an hour to go, read Newark newspaper (Goddamn do New Jersey politics suck rancid acid) fly a propeller plane back home, limp home.

Stuff I missed: Generally talked to every person besides Cmdr in a small group or one on one, which was fun. I tried to give Arkham a spin but I was way, way too dead at that point (Saturday night) To finish the game so I let Shale take over. I hurt just about everything (My shoulders were a mass of bruises from the carry on bag, my arms hurt from carrying it, my legs hurt from climbing that hill on beach, my arms hurtingmore from bowling, stomach hurting constantly in the last two days, etc.

Also managed to get DL Vampire LARPing with Shale Tepes and and OK Belmont, set to the stunning backround of a Pacifica sunset. Also got to see the sun rise from a plane. That was pretty mind blowingly awesome.

She claims this is because kilts are too pricey.  Personally I think she's just too nice to admit she's just so awesome only a skirt is sufficent.

Kilts are pricey as fuck.  Good ones, anyway.

Hey, did Grefter get anyone to cut me a check, by chance?  Just checking.

Also, Meeple in a Goatee and god damn Super lost some weight.

The * denotes the same thing. Just added the incomplete games to the finals scores, since as you can see with Ciato, it makes a difference. Feel free to check the math, especially on the combined scores. I did them on the carride from the bowling alley.

Congrats to OK for winning the best single game, and congrats to Yakko for again winning the combined scores. OK's second game was amusing, as he switched from Shale/Xer/Tai/CK's lane to Yakko/Monkey/Soppy's lane in the middle of our second game, so he bowled 5 frames in a row and just wrecked shit up. It was really close between Yakko, OK and me that game. I started strong but choked on the last three frames without at least a spare. Yakko started weak but finished strong, and OK was just good throughout. I think we figured out the DL Bowling Team at this point. I pre-emptively call Dude. OK is automatically Donny. Yakko is Walter by default.

Well, I've been back for a while but TOO LAZY TO POST THOUGHT!
...UNTIL NOW!!!

Anyway, flight got a bit delayed, like half hour or so, no big deal.  What was a big deal was the actual flight itself.  No, nothing wrong with actually flying, just...
Well, there was a baby across the aisle from where I was sitting.  Ever flown on airplane when you're near one? Yeah, you'd know why this was hell.  I did see a movie though! ...it was Drilbit Taylor...kind of regretting that, for all that it did kill about 2 hours.

When I got off the plane, I put on my DLC2 Nametag to make myself easier to find. Ended up not needing it since I recognized CK instantly from a distance and was able to find QR who was right next to him as a result.

First parts of the Con essentially ended up being spent at Gate's house...with Shale primarily at that.  This is cause of the Beach House thing and how someone needed to stay in their house (Tai was there, but we decided to at least keep him company), until finally things were resolved and we got there, etc.

Though, at Gate's house, I did get to see some Barkley, and watched OK kill Master D...who we know is clearly NOT Hitler...in Bionic Commando.

Started with some DMC3 Succession play between me, Shale and Xer.  Ended one chapter after getting Nevan.  Wanted to play the whole thing but got side tracked, etc.  The important thing, of course, is that we got to show people Nevan in action.

And yes, I got my ass kicked against Slash Beast repeatedly.  This...doesn't usually happen; I was just having a bad day...or I would say that except I DESTROYED Cyber Peacock with Zero without using his weakness, so I'm not sure, it was just a really weird day.

Music Quiz was fun, managed to avoid people wanting me dead by blaming some of the really evil picks on others, the fact that it ended in a tie made me wish I gave someone credit for something, but whatever.  Also, OK needs to post the actual scores of the quiz! Yes, he was the score keeper, and kudos to him for keeping track of it.  Also kudos to Soppy for getting the prizes for the quiz!

Niu claims to have Tally-fied me...this is cause I basically said "wow, AT2 actually looks kind of interesting!" cause, well, it does! Battle system did look unique and interesting, though, from what I've heard based on CK and Niu's comments, its nothing like AT1's, so this hasn't really inspired me to get AT1 at all.  KH2:FM was just fun to watch...twice.  Niu showed it once, then later Ciato requested and Niu showed it again!  Good to know my friend was full of shit regarding Roxas.

Bowling was good, for all that I felt I screwed up on the second game and the last two frames killed me from breaking 100 (all I really wanted to do.)

Watching Laggy play IWBTG was hilarious and pitiful.  Not pitiful cause Laggy was doing so bad (I don't think I could do much better!), but rather, pitiful cause he was ACTUALLY PLAYING THE DAMN GAME.  Watching the SotN LARP was similarly hilarious, but even better was OK's voice acting for FF4DS.  You don't know how much better FF4's plot was made when you have Cid being Irish.

In general, just did a lot of gaming and talking.  I didn't know it was really that hard to play a game and socialize at the same time, since people were impressed that I could play on a DS/PSP and still be completely socially active despite this.  Also people overrated just how much time I spent on my DS I felt.

Last two days were at Gate's house.  Just lots of chatting, and playing 3D fighters (primarily SC3 and KoF:MI2.)  Andrew thought he found an awesome infinite until I figured out a hole in the strategy.  Satisfying results and such!  Talked to Ciato, Super, Gate and Elfboy a lot in the last parts of the Cons cause, well, they were the only ones left!

Plane Ride back...FF4DS, Sleep, and watching a sunrise.  That's about it!

Anyway, will do a person by person thought thing later, but yeah, had a blast and such.  Gate and QR are awesome for this, etc.

Fantastic.  I am going to do a crapload of posts, doing a post for each day I was there, and then a post about each individual person.  Just letting everyone know I am back and alive, and will start this tomorrow!

Not with this post >_>  Expect about six-seven posts total!  I might cut them down a bit, though <_<

There's always been bowling. Always.

DLCon 1 also had mini-golf.

I haven't been here long enough to know what normally goes on at this thing.

And I demand to know why mini-golf wasn't made a staple event.

Don't ask me. I had to push for mini-golf at DLCon 1 and I hosted it. I guess they just wanted to keep costs and traveling low. It worked in NJ since everything was close.

So that makes Halbarad the one with the glasses and hat?

Hal = hat is generally a safe assumption. (Well, except when it's the Ran hat).

Random comments from reading through all this: Meeple with a mustache? Madness. Envy for all you lucky bastards who got Shale's french toast. Also, hope everyone appreciated my contribution to the music quiz~

Hooray for Cons and such! I've been traveling the last couple of days and it's been pretty fun if tiring. The elf and I have both contracted some sort of sickness, the same type of stuff Xer was complaining of. Grr!

Although I technically didn't arrive at the con until Friday night, I was actively involved in making sure you guys acquired a Super safely. Got several calls on both Wednesday to try to get Super in contact with Fnorder, and Thursday trying to make sure he was still alive and all parties involved knew it. I got a couple of late-night calls which made a Ciato very grumpy but that's about it.

Friday I spent about 5-6 hours in the OKC airport because I was dropped off as soon as my poster session ended. Spent most of that playing Pokemon. I got a Starly evolved to the second evo (I started at the beginning of the game) and am trying to level Shinx, who just plain sucks. Fairly uneventful, really.

Con was fun, though nothing in particular sticks out to me. I liked cornering others as always.

Jenna, you are fabulous. Along with being a wonderful person to talk to and generally hang out with, you also organized the Con beautifully. Much kudos to both you and Gate.

Didn't get to talk to Monkey and Sopko much, sadly.

Laggy rules. Just a lot of fun to be around and IWTBG is pretty great/evil/whatever.

Grefter is good times, of course. Got to chat with him a lot and it was happiness, getting to meet the guy finally was awesome since we've been friends for a long time. He's so huggable!

Xer- Needs to apologize less for stuff! Seriously, man, we're your friends. Panicking over minor things isn't good for you and you know we aren't going to get mad over anything. :( ^_^ Had fun talking with you dude.

Andy and Ashley- Pretty much stuck together but both seem fun enough. Mostly did activities I didn't though.

The rest- I hate you all and want you to die. (No I already talked about you guys last year. Not much has changed really.)

Two things.

First: Metroid, you put 2007 instead of 2008 on the check you wrote us. We kinda can't deposit it because of that. Any chance we could meet up sometime in the near future to remedy that?

Second: Heard from the landlady today. And we'll be getting 90% of the deposit back, which is yay. She's not a bitch afterall, just has some dislike for young people and a really odd way of phrasing rules.

Honestly, considering the fact that most 21-25 year olds who would rent a beach house would probably spend all weekend getting black-out wasted and trash the place, I can see why she had the rule.  If I owned a beach house, I sure as hell wouldn't rent one out to me.

Yeah, it wasn't so much that it was an unreasonable policy as A) There was no warning of it until people showed up and B) they seemingly expected everyone to be 25+.  Oh well, it all worked out, nothing to fret about now.

Doing a quick rundown of a few people here. Ran out of time tonight.

OK- The person I spent the most time talking to at the con offhand. On friday we sat down and tried to get EPSXE to work, bullshited some with Dhyer, posted rankings, etc. We then got talking about the site a bit (Group vs expanding voters) in the hallway. Go us! Elfboy got roped into that conversation. We then read the Cranbud PMs and talked about them some and the way the site's gone. We ended up getting interupted by Xer, who dragged Elfboy off for Robot funtime. We then moved to the master bedroom and talked for a few hours or so about random shit. Fuck off college loans on that note. Also talked a lot on sunday, which may or may not have been a good idea considering how bad a few dozen of our comments were. As a rule, the more tired I get the more foul mouthed I get and the shorter my life expectancy gets. Definitely was fun, and I so want to come to a Pittsburgh con. We also talked about.. women, Buffy, and a bunch of other stuff.

Monkey- Lower key than I expected. Less blunt than he is online but not much so. Communicated very well in spite of dragging ass- can understand why he missed sunday, he looked ready to die on saturday night. Hang around chat even if you're not playing DL games, can always strongarm chat into another direction. (Goes for a few other people as well.)

Xer- I felt bad for Xer. He was the youngest there by several years and clearly felt a bit nervous. It went well enough as far as I saw, though yeah, don't take it personally when people tell you to quiet down. It was very cool of him to show off ToD's remake. (I missed most of game theather, not a SRW fan.)

Lady Door-  Got to talk to her a few times. On the way to the store saturday for sodas, and sunday afternoon. She was incredibly patient when explaining arkham to me (And me wandering around saturday), and was a good AtA player.Andrew is lucky to have her, she's a perfect fit for him- both english majors? Good lord. I could put you to work editing for the DL! *Nodnod* It's time I int... shit, Andrew warned her about Meeple writeups I bet. Ahem. Well then. Yeah, spent about 20 minutes talking to her about Berekley on sunday. I always enjoy hearing about other towns. In this case, about how poorly Berkeley was designed- putting the railroad on the water? Really? Fail. Very happy I got to talk to you on Sunday though, and I hope you're both there next year. EDIT: Oh yeah, LadyDoor has a grip of STEEL and could kick my ass around the block. Which is awesome.

Andrew- Exactly what I expected. Glad to see him so chill and (Apparently) happy. I don't have a ton to say here since a lot of it applies from Lady Door's comments. He was also awesome at all things board game related- listening to him playing Gloom was fucking hilarious.

Ciato- Thanks again for Wednesday. (And not killing me for an annoyed, rude call at 3am). Couldn't pin her down at all on saturday, but I did get to talk to her on sunday and monday, which was nice. She also was extra nice and made a drug store run for me during the night of a thousand deaths. We don't exactly have a ton new to talk about since we've been like gossiping for six and a half years, but catching up with her face to face again was great, and I got to see her lab presentation.

QR- Tough as nails for one, and did a good job running the con. Beyond that, exceptional hostess and made sure everything went out on time. Had fun talking to her on all the car rides, and during all the time I spent there. Has a most understandable desire to see all things Mosou removed from her house, burned, and never again mentioned. Tai and Gate were fiending hard on it.
