CHRONO CROSS
This stat topic went completely with Stone equips. This includes for characters who are the only one who use their particular weapon, because I don’t feel that Prism equips are really fair for them (Not to mention you have to procure Shiny Materials).

I plan on getting damage/tech tests later.

I want to give a big thanks to Hopeful Death, who had six playthroughs, and was nice enough to share his stats. This means that most RNG-wonkiness should be eliminated.

White= Holy
Black= Dark
Blue= Ice/Water
Red= Fire
Green= Wind/Poison
Yellow= Thunder/Earth
When there are two elements, attack spells seem to pretty clear determine what element the spell is. However, this isn’t the case with techs. I take techs as half of each element.

Serge, White Innate, Special Weapon Mastermune (Word has it that it always hits elemental weakness). Also regenerates 1 HP a cloctick in game. This pretty much equates to 8 HP a turn. This equates to 1.6% of his HP a turn.

ELEMENTS
First, note that an element's effective increases 12.5 in whatever direction is moves from its default position.
I've done some element testing for those who allow it.
   L1   L2   L3   L4
34   105   130   180   220
33   100   125   174   212
32   95   120   168   204
31   91   115   162   196
30   87   110   156   188
29   83   105   150   181
28   79   100   144   174
26   72   93   134   162
25   68   89   129   155
24   65   85   124   149
23   61   81   119   143
22   58   77   115   127
21   55   73   110   132
20   52   70   106   127
19   49   66   101   122
18   45   62   92   118

The left most column is magic power, the other numbers are the damage the spells of a certain level do. I'll go over spells by element

White
PhotonRay- ST Level 1 (1-8)

TurnWhite- Turn ally/enemy White element; L1 (1-8)
StrongMinded- Raises Mdef (About 25%); L4 (1-8)
WeakMinded- Lowers Enemy Mdef. Effectively: Characters have 3 higher MAG while attacking; L4 (1-8)
Magnify*- Elements damage up 50%; L6 (4-8)
MagNegate*- Nulls Elements Damage; L6 (4-8)

Black
GravityBlow- ST Level 1 (1-8)

Yellow
Uplift- ST Level 1 (1-8)
ElectroJolt- ST Level 2 (1-8)
Upheavel- ST Level 3; 35% Sprain (1-8)

TurnYellow- Turn ally/enemy Yellow element; L1 (1-8)
HiRes- Raises Def (Effectively cuts about 25%) damage; L4 (1-8)
LoRes- No Effect, I think the PC Version is flawed
PhysNegate*- Negates Physicals; L6 (4-6)

Green
Bushwhacker- ST Level 1 (1-8)
AeroSaucer- ST Level 2 (1-8)
Bushbasher- ST Level 3; 35% Poison (1-8)
AeroBlaster- ST Level 4; 75% Afraid (1-8)
Heal- ~140 ST Healing (Covered in Char section); L2 (1-8)
HealAll- ~240 MT Healing; L4 (1-8)
TurnGreen- Turn ally/enemy Green element; L1 (1-8)
EagleEye- Raises Accuracy to 99%, 1-2 Turns; L4 (1-8)
BatEye- Greatly Lowers Enemy Accuracy. Very, very small chance of being hit; 1-2 Turns; L4 (1-8)

Ok, in summary, each group could possibly get  (Besides Damage)
White: Some moderate healing, Slow, and a way to Increase Magic Damage and Defense. If allowed, even more Anti-Magic Tricks

Black: Magic Buffing, and ID. Black kind of has ass for damage (Their L3 sucks). I can understand wanting to limit the ID in some way. Also has some Anti-Magic Ticks if allowed

Red: Not too much. Accuracy Up, Strengthen, and Burn and Confuse for statuses.

Blue: Nice healing, as well as Flu. Frozen is a game ending status, but takes too many turns to hit.

Yellow: Defense Boosting, Sprain, and an Anti-Physical Move if allowed

Green: Healing, the Afraid Status. Eagle Eye and Bat Eye could have uses.

Anyways, for elements, I've been thinking that I might allow each character 2 of each  common storeboughts and 1 higher level storebought of their choice (or an extra common, if they have no higher level). These elements could be allocated wherever the PCs wishes. However, no more than half of one level (Levels 1-8) can be filled.

SPECIAL ELEMENT CLAIMS
There are some people with special element claims. Serge starts with Cure (I upgrade it to CurePlus) and Kid with some starting Red elements ( I upgrade that to 1 Inferno). Also, bosses->PCs could claim the elements they had as bosses (Except Grobyc and Vigora). I'll try to include the specifics on this information later.

STATUSES
I previously listed a bunch of statuses. I haven't fully tested them all out yet, but I kind detail some of them at least.
Confuse: Target will use a random move from arsenal. They will not target themselves with negative attacks or opponents with positive due to the CC targeting system (I believe ST Healing magic is the only exception). Infinite duration, cancelled by physical damage.
Good Against: Healers (I think), People with big, worthless skillsets

Asleep: Target falls asleep. Supposedly their Defense falls, but this attack is rare as hell anyways (I’ve seen it come from Lunareitic and nothing else).

Fatigue: Stamina is set to 8 (for PCs), and Action cost is multiplied by 1.2. I take this to mean actions cost 20% more MP/what have you.
Poison: PC Version is –1 HP a clocktick (not so hot). Enemy version is impossible to tell.

Afraid: Enemy becomes more suspectible to crits. I need to check how much more, but Greens (and Dario) hope its a lot.

Dizzy: Evasion Down 25% (This mostly kills extra evasion in game, I believe)

Sprain: Attack Down 25%. Needs more testing.

Curse: Stamina goes down with damage. I believe this is a type of delay. More testing needed.

Darkness: Hit Rate falls 25% (Fairly effective in game)

Frozen: Frozen for a short period (Very short come endgame). However, if counts as match over with only one opponent.

Flu: Subtracts 3 from the Stamina Score (11 Stamina goes to 8…etc). Subtracts about 30% average speed from a character. It’s also the third effect that inflicts a type of Slow…

TECH STATUSES
Gourry initially listed that many statuses could be applied with L3/5/7 Techs. While this is true, but of these have abysmal hit rates. The following are the notable.

Miki: L5 100% Confuse (Doesn't look as good with the L4 Magic Around)
Funguy: L5 100% Dizzy (Not so good)
Irenes: L7 100% Flu (Nice little bonus, I guess)
Mojo: L3 100% Curse (Useful)
Harle: L7 inflicts average of 2 random statuses.
Luccia: L5 inflicts 1 random status...about 40% of the time. Ha, loser.

I also did some test to get an idea of what PC Def and Mdef Stats Actually Meant.

PHYSICALS
The enemy is Sidesteppa. It has the highest attack of any random I could get to. More importantly, it has a nice powerful physical tech. The number after the dash is the damage taken.
1. Leah 67- 182 (122 under Lo Res)
2. Greco, Macha, Grobyc 65- 194
5. Zoah 64- 200 (140 under Lo Res)
6. Fargo 62- 212
7. Karsh 60- 224
8. Orlha, Draggy 59- 230
10. Glenn, Orcha, Norris, Radius, Harle 58- 236 (176; Lo Res Norris; Moonshine Harle)
15. Serge, Viper, Janice, Starky 57- 242 (182; Lo Res/Flagbearer Viper)
19. Mel 56- 248 (188; Lo Res Mel)
20. Korc, Zappa, Kid, Guile, Leena, Sprigg, Turnip, Riddel, Skelly, Sneff, Steena 55- 254 (194; Lo Res Sneff; Snakeskin Riddel)
31. Nikki, Marcy, Miki, Van, Mojo, Doc, Funguy, Irenes, Luccia, Poshul 54- 260 (200; Lo Res Funguy and Poshul)
41. Pip, Neo Fio 53- 266
43. Pierre 52- 272 (212; Lo Res Pierre)
44. Razzly 49- 290
Average Damage Taken: 244.34

Assuming that this reflect CC defense and the defense is the division, we get
Defense Percentage
1. Leah 74.49% (Lo Res Leah 49.93%!)
2. Greco, Macha, Grobyc 79.4%
5. Zoah 81.85% (Lo Res Zoah 57.3%)
6. Fargo 86.76%
7. Karsh 91.67%
8. Orlha, Draggy 94.13%
10. Glenn, Orcha, Norris, Radius, Harle 96.59% (Lo Res Norris, Moonshine Harle 72.03%)
15. Serge, Viper, Janice, Starky 99.04% (Lo Res Viper 74.49%)
19. Mel 101.49% (Lo Res Mel 76.94%)
20. Korc, Zappa, Kid, Guile, Leena, Sprig, Turnip, Riddel, Skelly, Snef, Steena 103.95% (Lo Res Sneff, Snakeskin Riddel 79.4%)
31. Nikki, Marcy, Miki, Van, Mojo, Doc, Funguy, Irenes, Luccia, Poshul 106.41% (Lo Res Funguy and Poshul 81.85%)
41. Pip, Neo Fio 108.87%
43. Pierre 111.32% (Lo Res Pierre 86.76%)
44. Razzly 118.69%

MAGIC
The tests were from Dario. Why Dario? Because no enemy is competent enough to break MDef much come endgame. The spell used is AeroBlaster.
Magic Defense
1. Riddel (Momento Pendant) 43- 130
2. Guile 42- 148
3. Leena 41- 154
4. Starky, Harle 39- 166
6. Serge, Macha, Razzly 38- 172
9. Irenes, Marcy, Radius, Janice, Greco 37- 178
14. Norris, Nikki, Steena, Doc, Orlha, Miki, Draggy, Skelly 36- 184
22. Kid, Karsh, Korcha, Luccia, Fargo, Glenn, Van 35- 190
29. Viper, Zoah, Sprigg, Mojo, Funguy, Mel, Grobyc 34- 196
36. Zappa, Pierre 33- 202
38. Sneff, Pip, Turnip, Neo Fio 32- 208
42. Orcha 31- 214
43. Poshul, Leah, 29- 226
Note: Riddel takes 130 instead of 142 because CC in some way amplifies the effects of equips (Which actually may mean Serge and Glenn's damage is slightly low...whatever).

Mdef Percentage
1. Riddel (Momento Pendant)- 72.3% (54.23%! w/ StrongMinded or SnakeSkin)
2. Guile 82.31%
3. Leena 85.66%
4. Starky, Harle 92.32% (69.25% w/ SgM Starky)
6. Serge, Macha, Razzly 95.67% (71.75% w/ SgM Serge)
9. Irenes, Marcy, Radius, Janice, Greco 98.99%
14. Norris, Nikki, Steena, Doc, Orlha, Miki, Draggy, Skelly 102.34% (76.76% w/ SgM Doc or Steena)
22. Kid, Karsh, Korcha, Luccia, Fargo, Glenn, Van 105,67%
29. Viper, Zoah, Sprigg, Mojo, Funguy, Mel, Grobyc 109.01% (81.76% w/ Flagbearer Viper)
36. Zappa, Pierre 112.35% (84.26% w/ Medalsome Pierre)
38. Sneff, Pip, Turnip, Neo Fio 115.68% (86.76% w/ SgM Pip…or something)
42. Orcha 119.02%
43. Poshul, Leah 125.7%
...into the nightfall.

Some equip nonsense to be mentioned here!

Ok, first off, Prism Stuff is +5 vs. Denadorite stuff; this is universal, so yeah.

Janice gets her Prism Equip found in a chest somewhere in Terra Tower or something, so unlike others, she has a case for actually using it when others do not.  Make of this as you will.  Without that, she loses 6 attack, not 5, cause of screwed upness.

The rest of this will speak in regards to Prism stuff, cause I feel like it.

Serge's Mastermune is -2 vs. the Spectra Swallow.  It also has 100% Crit Rate against all species in CC; I don't know all the species, but I can verify that Human is one of them.  This means Serge has 100% Crit Rate against most of the DL, etc, and it applies to Dash and Slash as well (but NOT Flying Arrow or Luminaire.  To branch, despite the animation change, Flying Arrow with Mastermune apparently is identical with any other weapon, and the animation is purely for lulz.)

Razzly's Floral Rod is -1 vs. Prism Stuff

Glenn's Einlanzerx2 is +1 vs. Prism Stuff; I remember hearing it also has a hidden 5% damage boost for some silly reason.  I think it also has 100% Crit Rate vs. Undead or something like that.

Zappa's Master Hammer is...usable by Funguy as well.  I forget, however, if he needs to EQUIP it to get Prism STuff activated, and if he does, that could be used to make a technicality case for him to allow it.  Its -2 vs. Rainbow Axe, in any event.

Viper's Viper Venom is -2 vs. Spectra Sword.  I think it has lower accuracy too or something like that (compared to generic swords), but I seem to recall this had minimal impact in game or something like that.

Plasma Gun is usable by both Starky and Norris, though I honestly can't remember if Starky forcefully equips it when you first get it, thus Mario Ghost Medal Clause may kick in there; if not, its obviously illegal unless you're into plot equips (or if there's a second one I'm forgetting about), its -1 vs. Spectra Gun either way.

Also, where do you get Pack of Lies, OOC?  I'm going to guess its not a simple store bought, cause its equal to a prism Equip, but uses Denadorite (which might mean "This is what happens when you 'sell' it"), which is a sweet deal.  Its usable by all Shot using characters not just Sneff, for the record.

That's about it from what I can tell for equips like this; there are a few others, but they're mostly worthless.

Stumbled upon this today: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/196917-chrono-cross/55191996

Mechanics stuff, basically. Unfortunately the damage formula is needlessly complicated and relies on enemy stats which aren't documented anywhere. Accuracy is pretty interesting though. For the first hit, it's

Weak: 2/3 of equipped ACC + 1/3 of unequipped ACC + 2 (since equipment adds ~3 ACC, it's roughly just equal to ACC+1)
Medium: 2/3 of equipped ACC + 18
Strong: 2/3 of equipped ACC + 9

So, for the 89-ACC Serge, for instance, this would yield results of 89, 77, and 68.

Second attack and beyond is interesting. As anyone who has played CC knows, you get more accurate later in your combo. Basically, as you make successful hits, you build up "accuracy points" as follows: 1 for a weak hit, 3 for a medium, and 7 for a strong. The points all go away if your combo ends (using an element, running out of stamina, an enemy attacking you).

Now, for each accuracy point, your hit recursively approaches a "cap" of 102 (103 for strong attacks), as follows:
Weak attacks get 30% closer to 102 with each accuracy point, rounded down after each
Medium attacks get 25% closer to 102
Strong attacks get 20% closer to 103
You can't go past 99 for reasons which will make sense if you think about them.

So, the question becomes, what's the optimum way to go about doing damage/gaining energy? Basically, it depends how important your tech at the end is, which in turn depends on various views (i.e. do you hold recharge time against the PC), because of course you need to land hits in order to gain energy (or whatever it's called) to use techs.

Anyway, using an accuracy of 88 and str of 62 (so resulting damage of 35, 90, 144), which are the averages in this thread, some conclusions. All accuracies are approximations based on % chances of previous hits landing. Italicised strategies are useless and only listed for completion.

7-stamina combos:
W-S-S: 89% 35, 73% 144, 88% 144 = 263, 5.72 average energy gain
W-W-M-S: 89% 35, 92% 35, 86% 90, 87% 144 = 266, 6.14 average energy gain
M-M-S: 76% 90, 87% 90, 87% 144 = 272, 5.87 average energy gain
W-M-M-M: 89% 35, 81% 90, 90% 90, 94% 90 = 270, 6.39 average energy gain
Wx7: 89%, 92%, 94%, 96%, 97%, 98%, 99% 35 = 233, 6.65 average energy gain

As you can see, there's a bit of a tradeoff for damage and energy gain. Other combos may also exist somewhere in the middle, but I'm pretty sure the optimum damage and energy gain are both listed.

6-stamina combos:
W-M-S: 89% 35, 81% 90, 82% 144 = 222, 4.97 average energy gain
S-S: 67% 144, 85% 144 = 219, 4.56 average energy gain
M-M-M: 76% 90, 87% 90, 92% 90 = 230, 5.10 average energy gain
W-W-M-M: 89% 35, 92% 35, 86% 90, 93% 90 = 224, 5.39 average energy gain
Wx6: 89%, 92%, 94%, 96%, 97%, 98% 35 = 198, 5.66 average energy gain

Somewhat surprisingly, the "recommended" W-M-S combo is useless! Medium attacks seem to be the best bet for damage in general, and pretty good for energy gain too, though weak attacks are of course the best for energy.

If a PC is counting on gaining enough energy for a certain tech, then do note the slightly subpar damage options which give more energy... they may yield more damage overall.

These probabilities of course shift against a target with evasion, but I'm far too lazy to find out a way to calculate exactly how much. It should be noted that CC characters suffer more than average against high evasion (since early misses further drive down the accuracy of later strikes), but that's already well-known I think.

By comparison, Dhyer's assumed W-W-M-S and W-M-S combos do 304 and 269 respectively. So after accounting for accuracy this is an 11% (for 7-stamina) and 14% (for 6-stamina) hit to the average damage output of normals compared to what's listed in the topic.

Apparently, Mastermune hits weakness on 7 of 9 monster classes, but nobody will say which classes those are. All I know is that humans are weak to it (so it generally applies in the DL, yes) and the final bosses aren't. As Meeple notes, this is 2x damage to Serge's physicals and Dash&Slash, but not magical attacks (including his other two techs).

Also from the link: stat growth is, as I always suspected, random but based entirely on the PC's distance from their max stats... i.e. the ONLY two factors in "average stats" should be a PC's base stats, and their max stats; PCs do not have different growths beyond that. Differences in base stats are puny and likely to have very little effect, though I could be wrong there. Anyway, by and large Dhyer's stats fit very well with expectations, but there are a few places I can point at obvious RNG wonkiness (six playthroughs helps, but can't eliminate everything). As an example, Marcy should have higher strength than Nikki, since they have the same base but Marcy has a better cap (and yes, this is silly).

Also, this is mostly for my own reference, but hey, others might be interested. Str+Mag for the entire cast, removing unfair weapon advantages (so everyone with stone, except Glenn who gets stone+1 because einlanzer is +1 on prism; alternately, everyone with best weapons-5). I mostly make this to help me with in-game use if we ever do that for Chrono Cross, since in my opinion there's a very strong correlation!

97 (!): Harle
93: Serge
92: Karsh, Nikki
91: Marcy
90: Glenn, Macha, Miki, Orlha
89: Leena, Zoah
88: Doc, Korcha, Leah, Norris, Orcha, Radius, Razzly, Steena
87: Guile, Riddel, Skelly, Viper
86: Fargo, Funguy, Grobyc, Starky
85: Kid, Zappa
84: Greco, Irenes, Janice, Neo Fio
83: Sneff, Turnip, Van
82: Draggy, Mel
81: Poshul
80: Luccia, Pierre
79: Mojo
Trainwreck: Pip, Sprigg

Fun fact, the first time I played the game I settled on Serge/Karsh/Marcy as my final party. :)

Hmm, lots of interesting stuff to digest. One major factor is that I didn't really factor in enemy evade, so the starting base accuracy numbers could be high. More nebulous CC fun!
