Why is Ultimecia, Freonile, Palamekia Emperor in Dissidia? Nobody likes them, nor are they interesting fighters. Fine, I actually like Emperor's design thsi time, but that is not the point.

Ehhhh I am with Niu on this.  If there is one thing I expect from Nomura it is well targetted fan service.  He wouldn't be popular at all if mysterious bondage slave look wasn't permanently in fashion and effective on almost all audiences (See Vivi fanboys).

Frionel and Palamecian Emperor is a bit odd.  But then again, its still Hero + Villain from a game.

Betting that's the angle they'll take for the most part.  I mean, consider how the confirmed characters are Warrior of Light (Closest thing we'll get to an FF1 Hero cause he's Default Slot 1!  Also the FF1 Origins FMV and the Logo shows him too, IIRC), Garland (Villain), Kuja (Villain), Zidane (Hero), Squall (Hero), Frionel (Hero, if only slightly more than Maria/Guy), Sephiroth (Villain), and Ultimecia (Villain.)

Wouldn't be surprised if they're going to represent each FF game (Barring 11, I guess?) that way.  But eh, again, hard to say; too little info at this point, etc.

Considering the quality of that image versus the quality of http://twilkitri.fewiki.net/stuff/granzon.png from the same set, I find it somewhat unlikely that (that particular image) is actually used.
