And I'm kind of left to question the logic of using another generic hero (Onion Knight) over one who at least talks (Luneth). I expected remake with plot to be canon over original with no plot.
Cause they wanted to pay homage to the original game and not all the new ones with all their retconning and changes (thank god too; last thing we need is referencing anything in the FF7 Compilation that isn't FF7 itself. Ditto FFX-2, FF4's Cellphone sequel and...uhh...that's it, isn't it?) The game exists to pay tribute to the series as a whole, hence the 20th Anniversary thing. The Onion Knight is more iconic of FF3, despite being a generic, and *WAS* the main character of FF3 until all of 2 years ago. Sure, Luneth talks and is an actual character...but then again, they already used Warrior of Light whose also a generic (and Onion Knight talks too, for that matter! All 4 of them converse and such, just they're more like one body with 4 separate heads each having their own personality) anyway, so clearly the "is a generic" is not a dis qualifier.
I was a bit shocked too at first, but on hindsight, it makes sense.
Edit: Not like Luneth had much of a personality to work with anyway, so I doubt we're really losing a whole lot on DISSIDIA PLOT and what not.
(especially since it seems they're giving Frionel and Warrior of Light distinct personalities, something neither had in their respective games...admittedly, Frionel being randomly bad ass and Warrior of Light being seemingly emo is amusing >_> )
