It can in theory, but I don't have the proper boot disc for them.

To add to the list of gaming, STRICTLY for when we're at my house, I have a Wii so there can be some Brawl, though only 2 Controllers + a Wii mote, so more Gamecube controllers would be nice or something, if applicable.

I should be able to talk my brother into letting me bring the Cube, but he won't let me bring the Wii, I can say THAT safely.

It just occured to me...

Anyone coming allergic to Dogs?  I have two of them so probably should make sure of this in case we do plan on holding some of the meet at my house.

Soppy, PM me your phone number so I can keep you apprised of my arrival. I can bring my modded PS2 as well (GUILTY GEAR.) , Munchkin, and controllers for things. Still not sure when I'll arrive- the next week is absurdly busy.

Hell yes, GG. I've got my modded system, a spindle of games, a Gamecube controller (nothing multiplayer for it, though), the Wild West Munchkin deck....anything else I should bring? I've got Gloom, but Soppy was the one who brought that to the con in the first place, I think?

Continuing my reputation for failing up the joint, I'm now about 90% sure I won't make the meet until Saturday morning. Try not to overindulge in fighting games until I get there. Also I propose we get delicious ramen if we go into the city.

The mini-meet is...  probably over by now.  My visit ended up visiting on Saturday, on which various fighting games were perused along with a cultured game involving adjectival comparisons of fruit of the Malus domestica.  This was followed by sundry purchases at a local Gamestop, a pizza parlour, and a dramatic showdown upon the rolling lanes of yore.  Monsieur Meeplelard probably did the best there, consistently beating 100 in both of his games, though it's possible somebody topped him in the other game?  Your correspondent does not believe so, but is not sure.  Also Meeplelard indirectly ensured the price for the bouts of pin-toppling was a mere 8 bits per person.  After this, the meeting adjourned to the study to examine optimal methods of Brawling and Smashing, after a brief bit of navigational difficulties in the watery landscape.  Several ruffians also partook in the low sport of billiards, well-known corrupter of youth everywhere, as well as air hockey.  A music quiz was then held, arranged by secondary host Msr. Meeplelard, and there was much shouting of answers, as well as a shamefully long silence on a reasonably well known piece of one Y. Mitsuda.  The exploits of the so-called God Hand were briefly demonstrated along with the ravages of a poisonous demonic chihuahua, as was a brief amount of the so-called "Vincent May Cry."

The other fellows of the Society of the League seemed to only have cell-phone daguerreotypes, so your humble correspondent ended up taking the requested pictures.

Alas, shortly before this picture was taken, our gracious host H. Sopko clutched his head, muttering something about a "Re-union" and the black materia.  Befuddled by this sudden turn, we simply took another picture.  Surely it might come in handy, oh, 5 years or so from now if there is ever any debate about the nature of these activities.  (For those interested in the high-resolution versions: they're here.)

The member of the band from the Aiel Wastes requested a picture of the one who took the shot for completeness purposes, so I suppose he should oblige.

Gracious thanks to hosts Sopko and Meeplelard again, for making the event possible and ferrying about those who lacked the necessary transportation vehicles.

Friday- Meeple was the first to arrive. Was playing TotA while waiting, so we played through some two player for a while. Trashed the Behemoth in the swamp, then decided to kill time watching The Critic, which is awesome. Shale and Super arrive after a bit. Amazingly, no crazy travel stories! Ice is broken by showing off some PS3 demos of Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles, the latter which impresses. Also showed Super some Armored Core 4. Super suggested XS3 after this, even without a copy. Meeple counterthreats Vincent May Cry. Jim (Notmiki) then arrived, and we settled on Apples to Apples until dinner. Post dinner was the Naruto fighting game, where I proved that my Fangirl powers are still strong. After that was Soul Cal 3, where it was mostly highly amusing Random creation play. That lasted a long while, and afterwards Jim, Shale and I ended up shooting the shit until about 4-4:30AM.

Saturday- Meeple proved to be a fuddy-duddy and not show up in the morning, but after Shale-fast (Which was excellent) we decided on Apples to Apples again until Fnorder and Snowfire arrived. During this time we created a whole new way of playing the game that rocks face. Unfortunately, it only works with about 4-5 people. Snow was on time, but we got a text from Fnorder that was amusing:

"Everything is late. I am also soaked. Kill Super- Fnorder"

Yep. It was inevitable. S'what you get for quartering the Super. He eventually arrived as well though. Apples to Apples continued on for a while. The dog then proceeded to barf on the couch, missing Super's head by inches. We ended up playing Guilty Gear until it was time to leave for bowling. About two minutes on the road, just as they're turning onto the same road I had my accident on, Super's Jeep gets transmission trouble. Was kinda funny, because I was watching them in the rear-view and it literally was a there, look away a sec and then disappeared. It manages to limp to GameStop. Dinner was pizza, then BOWLING! Meeple won, Shale got the high score, I blow a really good start. Details and scores in another post. Meeple's friend was working there, so we ended up bowling for a dollar each. Sweet.

We then move to Meeple's house. Some craziness trying to get there, as I pulled out of my spot the wrong way and had to circle around the lot so I can follow Meeple, we get back and he's not there. Wouldn't have been so bad if the weather didn't suck. We had to make three attempts trying to find the street since it was so dark and foggy, but we made it! Super's travel victim support group increases membership. Meeple's was great though. Music quiz was good as always, and Super won the prize of a squishy Phoenix Wright gavel. Smash was had, and I proceed to crush all comers in pool and air hockey to make up for my bowling debacle. Snowfire and Fnorder headed home after this, and we retired back to my house for a showing of Fargo. We also started The Jerk, but we stopped short since we were tired.

Sunday- My Mom beat Shale to the punch and made breakfast. Super managed to almost flood the top floor of my house by putting the shower liner on the wrong side. After that we played a game of Betrayal at the House on the Hill in which Jim summoned a Banshee on us. We ended up kicking his ass, killing him and banishing the banshee. Close call though for most of us. Super ended up playing an axe-wielding little girl who was friends with another girl and a raving, frothing madman. Gratuitous item passing was had in the end as well. We wound down the day with watching the Giants game and generally following football, during which Meeple and Shale played their DS. While packing up, Super manages to almost kill himself by falling down the stairs. He tried to climb over the dog gate while carrying all his stuff. Very smooth~ He ended up being fine though, as far as he said.

All in all a good weekend. DL continues to be a very chill group to hang with. Thanks to everyone who came.

On another note, we came home from Meeple's to find a Wiimote on the floor. We're not quite sure whose it is. Everyone who was at my house on Saturday, check your stuff and make sure it's all there. Fnorder, Jim has your controller. Snowfire, Jim also has the Noein DVD for you.

Now though, bowling scores!

Game 1-

Meeple - 102
Soppy- 91
Shale- 75
Snowfire- 75
Fnorder- 75
Super- 74
Jim- 52

Average- 78 (77.7)

Game 2-
Shale- 113
Jim- 109
Meeple- 105
Snowfire- 70
Soppy- 60
Super- 58
Fnorder- 40

Average- 79 (79.2)

Total Scores-

Meeple - 207
Shale- 188
Jim- 161
Soppy- 151
Snowfire- 145
Super- 132
Fnorder- 115

Average- 157 (Or 78.5 per game)

Dunno what happened to me that second game (sad, cause 91 is better than my first scores at DLC1 and 3). I even started out with a Spare, 9, 9, Strike second game. I then wiffed the next frame and failed it up the rest of the time. Jim managed to slip and fall into the lane during the first game, but still picked up the spare! OVER THE LINE! Maybe 4 frames into the first game they turned off the lights and started up DISCO BOWLING! Epic~

Soppy covered the events pretty well. I spent a lot of time talking with Shale in the car both ways (Fun), talked to Miki about how astoundingly worthless Harry Reid is and other political stuff, economy and it's impact with everyone, among other things. Will post pictures when I have a little more time and am not dead tired.

I swear to god I feel like a complete idiot every single time I use a shower at one of the cons, it always takes me a bit of time to figure out how to work the damn things. Hot and cold knobs apparently only exist in southeast Virginiia now.

My arm hurts for reasons listed above. Air hockey was way, way too much fun, as was pool in spite of me being completely inept at it.  More later.  I want Valkyria chronicles.

Oh wait those basic things that every fucking shower should have exist somewhere on that heathen continent?  News to me  (Yeah everywhere I have stayed pretty much has lacked simple things like a seperate hot and cold tap.  You people are weird.)

Actually that's a good point.  Now that I think about it every single dang shower in Australia & New Zealand had the strange "let's split the hot and cold levers because we can't trust our citizens with the sheer power of the uniknob"  thing going for it.  Who knew that some in the US had fallen to dependence in that same sad state.

A single knob lacks precision and intuitive controls.  It is a failure of User Interface design.

I support a triple knob design for hot, cold, and pressure.

This being said, the showers that trip me up are the combo shower+bathtub ones since I swear each one has a different way to make the shower run, the shower is never default and the shower mozzle height's always like between my shoulder blades at best.

I'll agree to this on sinks, but showers I'll disagree on. Maybe cause I grew up using a single knob, but both my apartments had dual knobs and it was always kinda scattershot using them. Maybe because the plumbing systems were old, but I dunno.

I will agree that some uniknobs are dumb (like ones that rotate over 360 degrees for some reason. Nope, people can't be trusted to make adjustments less than an inch!). But I honestly feel the one in the upstairs shower at my house is straightforward.

To be fair, it is Super we're talking about here. If he doesn't wind up making a fool of himself during a Con it's just not the same.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.
