Nyarlathotep's Dungeon: Week 27
« on: September 05, 2008, 04:27:35 PM »

I see things are simply not challenging enough these days. I will have to remedy this fact.

Team Snow versus Floor 5, 9-1
Team Nitori versus Floor 3, 9-0
Team Unoriginal versus Floor 5, 10-0

Team Snow and Unoriginal's Matches

Floor 6a: Those that fight underlings (Before Endgame)

Battle #26: Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin

Reno: The Turks will show you no mercy.
Fujin: DESTROY.

Battle #27: Lich, Kary, Kraken and Tiamat

Lich: Earth!
Kary: Fire!
Tiamat: Wind!
Kraken: Water!

Battle #28: Xenobia

Xenobia: Master Ghaleon may not be here... but I will destroy you anyway.

Battle #29: Rofel and Adramelk

*The team has been fully healed!

Rofel: The power of the Zodiacs shall stop you.
Adramelk: Hahaha... Fools.

Boss Battle #6: Zog and Melfice

Zog: I, the ruler of the Dark Dragons, shall end your lives here.
Melfice: Heh heh heh. You think this horn is just for show?

Team Nitori's Matches

Floor 4b: Attrition (Midgame)

So, you think you have what it takes to make it through this unscathed...? Let's see!

*All healing and revival effects are reduced to 20% for this floor. Revival is not useable

Battle #16: Krin, Karn and Jane

Krin: Heh heh heh, you can't get past us.
Karn: I wish I could transform...
Jane: Wshhhhhhhh!

Battle #17: Marcus, Seth and Lyn

Marcus: Hah! You will not pass here... not while I still breathe!
Seth: We shall protect this place from harm.
Lyn: You're right. We cannot let you pass here.

Battle #18: Nash, Mia and Arnaud

Mia: I'm sorry, but this is where you cannot pass.
Arnaud: Such a beautiful lady... I can't believe my luck!
Nash: Hey, back off, jackass!

Battle #19: Augustine, Hallec and Nei

Augustine: Ah, my friends... let us do battle.
Hallec: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHH!!
Nei: ... o/`?

Boss Battle #4: Augst, Evil Gaia and Tony

Augst: I'm afraid we can't let you all live. It's been determined you're too much of a threat.
Evil Gaia: You will... all die... here...
Tony: I HATE KIDS!!!

Team Snow | Virginia, Geno, Nina4 and Raja
[Floor 6a]
[Virginia: Hope Shard, Love Charm, Lust Jaw]
Team Snow vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin - Hope Charm+Lust Jaw+Love Charm = endgame-level FP Phantasmic Heart off Virginia's Magic stat multiplied by 1.75. This is pretty brutal NE MT magical damage (not as brutal as it'd be with Gallows, but it'll do just fine), and Geno+Nina MT damage should be able to mop up things pretty well with this. Considering just about everybody here is around PC HP (except Rude and maybe Fujin against magic, she had MDef), one turn = Rude and Fujin vs. the world. The blitzing isn't even needed, in all honesty, since they're outpacing everybody else so vastly and Nina4 mocks -everything- Fujin can do. Reno can uh ST Pyramid, but that fails so badly against a full team.
Team Snow vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat - Once again, the MT magical blitz works its magic. Once again, odds are it doesn't really need to? Hold spam gets held off (hrhrhr) by Status Lock, Kary can uh OHKO Raja before Geno Boost and then what? But then, against magic they don't resist, the Fiends just kinda suck.
Team Snow vs. Xenobia - I honestly consider this the hardest fight in the lot, because Xenobia takes a long time to kill and she's constantly wrecking Raja/pressuring the team with stone status. This is why I brought Love Charm besides the magic boost: Status Lock on Ginny, then Geno (Ginny/Geno/Nina should be constantly double-turning, Xenobia is SLOOOOOOOOOW), then Geno Boost on Raja so he can take a hit, then slug it along and Xenobia becomes manageable, and Weakness on Xenobia once Status Lock has been established should make Virginia's damage against her kick ass. A full heal afterwards doesn't hurt either.
*Full Heal
Team Snow vs. Rofel and Adramelk - Rofel dies before getting a turn, don't think there are ifs or buts about that, the team is fully geared for magical nuking. Adramelk solo is ahahahahaha.
Team Snow vs. Zog and Melfice - Okay, so this is... pretty much academic. Melfice's physical spoiling is useless here. He can't try for status, Geno/Ginny/Nina immune Silence (Love Charm has a PS that immunes WA3 Misery and a few other status as well) and Raja with Psy Shields reduces the hit rate on Shhhh! to zero. Moveblock is useless against such a magically slanted team. And Zog is waaaaaaaaaaay too slow. Melfice should even go first, but the best he can do is maybe OHKO Raja (not guaranteed, he has shields and Melfice's 2HKO vaguely sucks) and then die after his second turn. Nina4 Vitalizes the team out of trouble and then it's smooth sailing because Zog is so horribly slow.

Team Unoriginal | Orlandu, Nel, Garnet, Nei, FF1 Monk
[Floor 6a]
Team Unoriginal vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin - Orlandu gets Excalibur. Sweetness follows. He starts by blasting Reno, Nel smacks Fujin around, Garnet MT magics and FF1 Monk finishes mopping up Fujin. Now, it's RAIJIN and RUDE against the world and that's not ending well.
Team Unoriginal vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat - More complicated. Orlandu has to focus on Kary, hoping Garnet and Nel will finish her up. It should be manageable, though, since the Fiends just lack offense past Kary's initial handling.
Team Unoriginal vs. Xenobia - Garnet walls Lightning and then things go awry. She's casting Stona on herself every couple turns, but Xenobia is slow enough to make it doable, I think? Nel and Orlandu both immune Stone as well, I think, which eases the pressure.
*Full Heal
Team Unoriginal vs. Rofel and Adramelk - Rofel EATS IT against Orlandu. No real ifs or buts.
Team Unoriginal vs. Zog and Melfice - And so does Melfice. Pretty by-the-book.

Team Nitori | Rikku, Benjamin, Cecil, Mint
[Floor 4b]
*All healing effects are reduced to 20% for this floor. Revival is not usable.
Team Nitori vs. Krin, Karn and Jane - I'll think about Team Nitori later. Does this clause mean Life can't be used as ID?
Team Nitori vs. Marcus, Seth and Lyn
Team Nitori vs. Nash, Mia and Arnaud
Team Nitori vs. Augustine, Hallec and Nei
Team Nitori vs. Augst, Evil Gaia and Tony

Abstain on Teams Snow and Unoriginal.  No clue how the last fight there will go.

Edit: Team Snow passes.  The breakdown works for me.  Team Unoriginal I'm less sure on, but based on everything, pass.

Team Nitori... I think FFMQ Life can still be used as ID, so tenative pass.  May change if Word of God dictates otherwise.

Okay. Let's assume Melfice goes first. He uses... his MT magical damage, it's his best bet. A single Wailing Soul Slash is just going to fail, since I doubt it would OHKO Shield Raja. Virginia is fairly twinked for HP as well, so she's not in real danger. It's just a 3HKO, so Nina4 will just Vitalize it and that's that, and she's coming right after Melfice if he's faster (he may not be, Nina4 speed is pretty nuts and Melfice doesn't even 3-2 average speed). Geno's coming just right after. He Geno Boosts Raja, and now he's not in danger of dying. Ginny casts Arc Impulse on Melfice. Zog... is faster than Raja by a bit, and Chars. With Geno Boost in place, Raja lives, and since Melfice doesn't 3-2 average, he doesn't insta-lap Raja either. So, Raja MT heals and there you go. Now, things are back to square one, only Melfice has been damaged while the entire party is still at full. Geno and Ginny just plug at Melfice on the next turn, possibly with Ginny using Phantasmic Heart to ensure death to Melfice, he's not greatly durable. Now, it's Zog against the world with two healers he can't OHKO. I don't think there's anything they can do to stop the team, it has the the right speed and resources to handle the fight.

Life being used as ID would be reversal aka the other floor, Life still being ID would make this floor significantly easier >.>

That said. Team Nitori, same limited offense problems as last week now with reduced support ...

Have to think about this some more.

Team Uno ... have to think about this some more too. Nel can't immune confuse, chaos on S03 characters is evil ... Hmm.

Snow makes a good argument. WA3 twinking *is* evil. Too bad I can't vote on his team ;p

Snow and Unoriginal smash puny floors (Ahaha, a FF 1 fiend boss fight. On floor 6! Go DoS). Fast healers are mopping up this floor so badly.

Team Unoriginal | Orlandu, Nel, Garnet, Nei, FF1 Monk
[Floor 6a]
Team Unoriginal vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin- Orlandu does unspeakable things to Reno, Rajin/Rude suck, Fujin isn't surviving Nel's turn.
Team Unoriginal vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat- Orlandu with Song of Madness means even Kary's going to die pretty horribly here.
Team Unoriginal vs. Xenobia- Xenobia doesn't even get a turn.
*Full Heal
Team Unoriginal vs. Rofel and Adramelk- Orlandu snap puny sword, Monk smash puny Ghost of Fury face.
Team Unoriginal vs. Zog and Melfice- I let Maken Valborg be targed by Hellcry. Yeah.

Team Nitori | Rikku, Benjamin, Cecil, Mint
[Floor 4b]
*All healing effects are reduced to 20% for this floor. Revival is not usable.
Team Nitori vs. Krin, Karn and Jane
Team Nitori vs. Marcus, Seth and Lyn
Team Nitori vs. Nash, Mia and Arnaud- Nash's status is too much here offhand.
Team Nitori vs. Augustine, Hallec and Nei
Team Nitori vs. Augst, Evil Gaia and Tony

What they mean by Life as ID isn't talking about revival in general, but about the specific Life spell from FFMQ. If you cast this on any enemy, it's Instant Death.

In the US version only, from what I heard, but yeah, it acts as ID on opponents.

Team Snow | Virginia, Geno, Nina4 and Raja
[Floor 6a]
[Viginia: Hope Shard, Love Charm, Lust Jaw]
Team Snow vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin
Team Snow vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat
Team Snow vs. Xenobia
*Full Heal
Team Snow vs. Rofel and Adramelk
Team Snow vs. Zog and Melfice - Gut says the team can manage this, even with my lackluster Geno respect. If Virginia's magic is ST, however, inclination is that the first two fights tear them up too much. However it sounds MT and so I think they nuke the floor.

Team Unoriginal | Orlandu, Nel, Garnet, Nei, FF1 Monk
[Floor 6a]
Team Unoriginal vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin - Fujin gets blitzed by Orlandu+Nel, Garnet drops a summon on the group and Nei... I'm more inclined to say the speed buster's useful here, due to the number of foes. In the end, I can't see Garnet falling here without a focused assault, and I'm not sure they've got the power to pull it off by the time Orlandu/Nel/Garnet/Monk act. Garnet heals the team.
Team Unoriginal vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat - Nuke Kary, the rest of the team I don't think can down Garnet? This one's an iffier call, though, since I don't remember Tiamat well at all. (Need to replay FF1 so badly.)
Team Unoriginal vs. Xenobia - ahahahahahaaaahahaha nuked
*Full Heal
Team Unoriginal vs. Rofel and Adramelk - Um. Okay. Orlandu blitzes Rofel, Nel does as well since I don't think I'd give Thunder Spark's stun-type effect credit against bosses, on gut. Might rethink this. Nei... well, wait, Nei's buff means a blitz kills, if barely. Right, that makes this easy.
Team Unoriginal vs. Zog and Melfice - Uhm. Blitz Melfice, Zog can't handle Orlandu is my gut.

Team Nitori | Rikku, Benjamin, Cecil, Mint
[Floor 4b]
*All healing effects are reduced to 20% for this floor. Revival is not usable.
Team Nitori vs. Krin, Karn and Jane - Thinking.
Team Nitori vs. Marcus, Seth and Lyn
Team Nitori vs. Nash, Mia and Arnaud
Team Nitori vs. Augustine, Hallec and Nei - Allowing Benjamin ID cheese. Mint gets nuked, Augustine gets nuked, Hallec does damage, Hallec gets nuked, team heals up slowly.
Team Nitori vs. Augst, Evil Gaia and Tony - Tony eats damage blitz, Rikku covers POIZN. Battle is very, very, very slowly won from there.

Virginia's magic IS ST, so...yeah.  WA3 spells are ST outside of Gallows' unique Force ability to make them MT for one casting.

Summons are MT, but directly proportional to FP.  So it's basically a single shot.  Hope it would be suitably powerful at this point...

Analysis to come a bit later.

Once per battle, yes, but a Phantasmic Heart summon off endgame-level FP and Ginny's twinked magic stat should be suitably powerful. Coupled with the rest of the MT the team has, it should be enough to handle just about anyone who matters. FP reserves go back up between battles, so that issue isn't a big deal here.

Snow rapes, Uno passes pretty solidly, Nitori scrapes by on ID cheese. The floor said 'Revival' cannot be used, I see no reason to disallow the Life spell's alternate uses.

Team Snow | Virginia, Geno, Nina4 and Raja
[Floor 6a]
[Viginia: Hope Shard, Love Charm, Lust Jaw]
Team Snow vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin - Yeah.  Round 1 magic blitz works well here.
Team Snow vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat - Non-Kary fiends get wiped, easy.  Hold gets dealt with by initial Status Lock, and that's that.
Team Snow vs. Xenobia - STATUS LOCK.  Xenobia's a slug, and Virginia is just plain fast.  After that, it's a one-sided slugfest.
*Full Heal
Team Snow vs. Rofel and Adramelk - MT Magic blitz should take care of Rofel.  Adramelk's got nothing that'll get through the party's healing.
Team Snow vs. Zog and Melfice - Melfice seems like the trouble spot here.  If the team can off him fast enough, Zog's lack of speed and magical resistances make him a sitting duck for anyone not Raja.  Who has more than enough healing (and Ataraxia) to compensate for any losses in HP Zog may cause.  And it sounds like Melfice isn't THAT bad.

Team Unoriginal | Orlandu, Nel, Garnet, Nei, FF1 Monk
[Floor 6a]
Team Unoriginal vs. Reno, Rude, Elena, Fujin and Raijin - Orlandu has Excalibur?  This will not end well.  This will not end well at ALL.  All of the troublesome members get taken out fast by this team.
Team Unoriginal vs. Lich, Kraken, Kary and Tiamat - Excalibur.  Blitz Kary.  Everyone else dies fast by comparison.
Team Unoriginal vs. Xenobia - If there's enough Stone protection, awesome.  Orlandu has no reason to fear Xenobia's damage after the speed comparison and Night Sword.
*Full Heal
Team Unoriginal vs. Rofel and Adramelk - Rofel's sword explodes.  Then the rest of him does.  Adramelk gets blitzed.
Team Unoriginal vs. Zog and Melfice - Orlandu has awesome blitzing powers.  And at this point, obscene lasting power.  As long as Melfice dies quickly, Zog is not winning off of that speed difference.  Night Sword is that good.
